  1. Not to mention, is Luke still playing the deepest CF in the league? Might more confident positioning have removed the need for a dive at all? I feel as if defense is still costing this team games, all by itself.
  2. People lacking plus arms are still expected to hit the cutoff. 😠
  3. We don't lead the majors in HBP. Just seems like it. Comfortably above average, though, if that's the word.
  4. "HBP. Injury Delay." You have got to be ****ing me.
  5. As the old ad used to say, baseball is fan-tastic. And so is this article.
  6. We did okay yesterday in that situation. / as expected
  7. Couldn't they find a little kid to be the apostrophe for th'?
  8. / late to return to the thread and I'm not gonna check whether this already was mentioned
  9. Man, look at that season OPS. They should be batting Culpepper 3rd or cleanup.
  10. I was hoping the smiley face would give a clue how much or little I would enjoy that debate. 😁
  11. The dregs from a vat of beer or wine, one supposes.
  12. Good. No curveballs, or sliders in the dirt. Should be a productive game for the offense.
  13. Wins and losses being more like a step function, some simplifying assumptions may be called for. Continuous Almost Everywhere?
  14. I don't know what the going rate for a young prospect is. Nor for a MLB-ready arm that slots as probably 14th on a team's pecking order for major league time. Hopefully the cash to cover Hoffman's salary was the last choice among the options we have named.
  15. He's had low BABIP in each of his short tries in the majors. A total of 207 PA is still within "small sample size", but better outcomes are starting to be overdue. (I'd also like to see some power begin showing up.) All else being equal, I like my team's players to be lucky. Joe Mauer was extraordinarily lucky his entire career, and we in turn were lucky to have him. 😁 As for Hays, meh.
  16. If that was the case then it seems like the solution would have been to not include one or both of the other two players (Klein or Pena), and maybe even a much lesser prospect from the Jays being added to the trade if both sides valued Hill that highly. Unless you believe John Klein* was the sweetener that absolutely made or broke the deal. * Yes, 40-man considerations probably played a role for the Twins
  17. August means the bar has been lowered, but we'll take it.
  18. No pressure, Taj, but you're our Ace right now.
  19. Worrying about his trade value is pointless. If he had any of significance, they would have pivoted to the next best offer of a reliever. Instead they went with a totally different package for Hoffman.
