    The report that broke the news about the MRI states that he woke up with elbow soreness and the team chose to shut him back down on account of that. It also states that the injury which led him to be put on the IL was elbow-related.

    Ben Revere was mentioned above. In a similar 6533 innings, Revere had 31 lifetime assists across his 8 seasons in the majors. Ben. Revere. You might want to rethink the meaning and importance of that particular defensive stat, if Ben Revere threw out more baserunners than Byron Buxton.

    That might even be light. Realmuto got $115M for 5 years at age 30, and while he's better than Jeffers, there's a lot of headroom between those figures for Jeffers's agent to exploit if he's the best available catcher this off-season.

    Mock ownership, then if someone asks for specifics, complain that the response's tone is mocking. So who do you have in mind? You could probably pry 39-year old Kirby Yates from the Angels for cash considerations. His ERA is decent but his game log suggests they use him only in blowouts if they can help it, and he gets tagged with a blown save or a loss when they have to use him meaningfully. Is that what you had in mind when you specified "reliable"? I don't look to the Tigers or Royals for help as divisional rivals. I'm not confident big-market teams like the Red Sox and Mets are ready to throw in the towel at 5.5 games out. That leaves SF and Colorado. I'm not going to do your homework for you. Who do you have in mind? I'll suggest in advance that in return for cash you will get Justin Lawrence clones, Anyone markedly better will be traded to the highest bidder, not the first bidder, and not for the cash you specified.

    Well, up until last night. 😉

    Boras has always been an astute student of the sport. He would have made a great Commissioner (he's a little old to start that now), and in that role he would of course have looked out for the owners' interests but also that of the general public. But no way he would've taken the pay cut that that would involve.
