  1. I always remind myself that AAA is unique, in that not one person involved in the game wants to be there. Not one. Every last person believes they belong in the majors, players and coaches alike. Once I accepted that, AAA games made a lot more sense. There's just a lot less hustle there than in AA or in the majors, to my eye at least - I still remember Willians Astudillo, a guy reputed to be a hustle guy, plod out to left field and then plod back to the dugout at inning's end. And there's no game tactics to speak of - everyone is just getting their allotted repetitions in - so if you're a base stealer and the game is 8-1 you are still gonna steal, and if you're a left handed pitcher in a close game and there's a slew of righties coming up you will still face them.
  2. I do give him credit that each of those three was a valuable run. Twice he put his team to an early 1-0 lead, and the other homer raised a lead from 2-1 to 3-1. That's qualitatively different from last year. The problem is that the rest of his 2026 so far has been Death by a Thousand Cuts. Which is not qualitatively different from last year.
  3. Is Tom Pohlad making daily phone calls to the front office offering helpful suggestions?
  4. The problem with this narrative is that, yes, stolen bases were up and sacrifice bunts were up in August and September, but actual run scoring per game was not up compared to June when they went 9-18 and the die was becoming cast. The operation was a success but the patient didn't get better.
  5. This season remains small sample size, and even more so if you split those stats even one way. Nevertheless, you will not like the shape of his 2026 splits so far, bases-empty versus men-on, if you look (before or after today's game). The post you replied to was an attempt to provide balance, but the overall picture for situational hitting remains Not Good. I appreciate a home run that puts his team up by a run, but overall his WPA remains "death by a thousand cuts" that outweigh the good of those solo shots.
  6. "... or sit in the outfield and get one off an opposing player's bat."
  7. Can't give you .500 but here's a screenshot of when we were 0 games under .500
  8. If we cut a reliever every time they lose a game for us ... hm, what's the major league record for DFA's in a season anyway, over 100?
  9. He's had stretches where he swings through fastballs. Gotta hope he hasn't hit the 10-year warranty and now can't be fixed.
  10. That or forfeit would seem to be the options for our guys.
