  1. It's so weird. (I'm obviously looking at the same page of stats as you are.) Man on third only? OPS is a reasonable .793 in 72 PA - better than their overall average, almost exactly MLB-average (.785) this year for this situation. Man on second and third? OPS .950 in 62 PA. All-Star good. Fourth in the majors. Man on first and third? OPS 1.112 in 91 PA - Hall of Fame good. We lead the majors. Man on first, second and third? OPS .451 in 85 PA. What the what? I really think this is "one of those things" due to small samples, that hasn't evened out yet in the course of time. What in the world would distinguish these scenarios from one another in terms of clutchiness?
  2. Merely grazing the uniform is sufficient for it to be a tag, so the baserunner may not be aware if a legal tag is made. He has other things on his mind in that instant anyway.
  3. Okay, but this sounds like if there is simply an opt-out, then if it's not exercised on or by the date specified, the player is committed for the rest of the season. Which makes sense, I just want to know.
  4. When a player decides against the opt-out on the given date, is he committed to the team for the rest of the season, or can he later decide he's out?
  5. Julien has his warts when the bat isn't in his hands, but big time props to him for that 2-out slide at home. A beauty!
  6. It would never catch on with the drivers here, I'm certain.
  7. I thought the reverse was true. "How can I know what's enough, until I've had too much?"
  8. You left out your specialty during your lengthy career: the unknown knowns.
  9. Oh. Well, let us know when you schedule one of those. We'll plan a party. / i keed, i keed
  10. Oh, well, it's about a girl named Dorothy, and she has this cute doggy, but then a storm picks up and ....
  11. Nice ninth by Moran. I clicked refresh on the game thread, and by the time the screen updated, the game was done!
  12. The event horizon is greater than you may expect. Keep at it.
  13. Probably most here have seen this movie review before, but in case not:
  14. Aha! BABIP doesn't pay attention to home runs either. We're getting through to you!
  15. I am Optimistic that we will continue to get good posting events from you in these game threads!
  16. I cried when that nice lady got crushed by the house early in the film
  17. I'll even say it's more clear cut than that. The catcher's glove arm was still moving when hand contact with the plate began.
