  1. I'm more invested this year than last, literally, because last year I decided not to pay for mlb.tv and this year I did. Still, my location in the Pacific time zone, which might seems great since I never have to stay up late for a game, actually means the game very often comes at an inconvenient time with outdoor activities or making dinner or whatnot. So I don't watch nearly as many games as I would like to. In terms of time-investment I opted for the 25% category. I keep watching and hoping.
  2. I wonder if any of the lower ranked players on this list will fall and be available at #34? Or, if one does fall, will the Twins have someone else they like better? I wanted this list to be a top 34 not top 25.
  3. Can you please stop putting jinxes on our good hitters? Thanks in advance.
  4. Trying to break the controversial news as gently as I know how, yeah.
  5. So have I. It affected my mountain hiking. It did not affect my slow-pitch beer-league career.
  6. Not to be a broken record or anything (hey, who am I kidding), but Gallo in right would not make that play.
  7. Every Twins batter except Gallo: "It's a team sport. Hey, we won, didn't we?"
  8. Game saving play by Max. I'm not even convinced that ball would have landed foul.
  9. That's really all my point was. It was painful watching him gather in that popup. But corner OF defense isn't usually what makes or breaks a team, unless it's really off the charts.
  10. That's our last bench bat, except Jeffers as backup catcher today. Rocco's fired all the bullets now. Who knows if the 9th would have been a better use for Castro.
  11. No reason to worry about the arm. Watching him lumber toward that lazy fly toward the foul line just helped confirm that the 5 innings he's played in CF so far this season looks like about right - despite talk in the offseason that he's an option in center, he's just not. Swapping him and Max in LF/RF would make sense to me, as I think Kepler has slightly better foot speed, but there are egos to contend with.
  12. "Long run for Gallo." Or, should it be, "long run. For Gallo."
  13. We're just 3 months into the regime of the new guy. And isn't this about the third guy, during the FalVine regime? If there's a problem, it has to be some kind of "organizational philosophy" that constrains the conditioning people they hire. Every team has injuries, though, so I'd want someone to dig deeper if the Twins really have a problem there. Do we really have more of some certain type of injury, for instance, and on players who don't already have such a history?
  14. And in Spring Training, every player arrives in the best shape of his life.
  15. A good starting pitcher on an expiring contract. Hm, I was about to suggest that going after Jordon Montgomery, a good starting pitcher on an expiring contract, might be worth discussing. Gray to the Cardinals would be trying to swim upstream to what that team probably has in mind. But really, unless last night's game turns into a trend as we approach the trading deadline, I'm with the group saying not to invest any significant prospect capital (which is what St Loo will want for either Goldschmidt or Montgomery) as buyers this year.
  16. The rooster crows, therefore the sun rises. But, keep up the good work, batters. We need games like that one more frequently.
  17. That was my question. Who?
  18. Not sure who this soliloquy is aimed for (or against). Who is saying batting average is unimportant? What you may be reading here and there is that batting average is not the only important thing for a batter. Batting average is indeed important enough that it figures prominently in both components of OPS, for example.
  19. After last night I am ready to give the front office a contract extension and proclaim Rocco as Manager For Life.
  20. Duran. Gray maybe. That's it, IMO. It would be great for Ober or Ryan to get recognition but I don't think so. We have a good starting rotation but I think strong cases can be made for pitchers on other teams and ours get left out.
