  1. Yeah, the word for the past year was his glove was MLB-ready, it was the bat that was questionable. Turns out there's questions on both for now.
  2. If you trust him on 3-1, then you might trust him on 2-0. I doubt he was given the Swing At Anything signal - they trusted him and he went fishing. Could just as well have happened on 3-1 then.
  3. Well, if you want to take the bat out of a rookie's hands at 2-0, not a bad choice BTW, you aren't going to give him the green light on 3-0 are you? Maybe not even on 3-1, with the bases loaded? (Then again, it's Hicks to follow.)
  4. Yeah. Two runs is nothing to sniff at, but it coulda/woulda/shoulda been more.
  5. Table's set for Arcia-zie. Crossing fingers...
  6. Is Buchholz one of those pitchers who announcers say you'd better get to early, or else you won't at all?
  7. So far this game has addressed my concerns about this team being mediocre on table-setting and downright poor on power.
  8. Chief will never catch up because he thinks before he posts. I on the other hand can give you a good run for the money.
  9. Wasn't VD just making a humorous counterpoint to my message of good wishes toward the player? That's how I took it.
  10. I might have thought his charity work with cancer patients and war orphans and baby seals would have turned VodkaDave and BadSmerf's opinions around.
  11. Nine game hitting streak in that span; not sure if hitting streaks end with a pinchrunning appearance. Anyway as his father in the TD Adopt-a-Prospect, I gotta stand up for my son.
  12. And yet you say it so well, 3935 times and counting.
  13. I'm glad for him. He was a good player in Japan and should be again. If he continues to do well, maybe the Twins will call him up.
  14. I really don't think so. I would have liked an additional signing or two, particularly Saunders. But the risk/reward on a long-term signing like Greinke just wasn't there, IMO. There will come an off-season soon where such a signing will make sense, and past history says there will be a free-agent available to fill that need. We can both agree the Twins left money in their pockets they could have used to improve things for 2013, even if we disagree on how the money should have been spent.
  15. OK. But never underestimate the leverage a small bribe to an admin can provide.
  16. The Twins are near-last in the league in offense because (in part large enough to mention) Jamey Carroll isn't getting enough plate appearances? Hold on, gotta check the team outputs of this future HOFer in the past several seasons... uh, no, don't quite see it.
  17. The public subsidy on the stadium was said to allow the team to compete year in and year out. The team hasn't kept their end of the bargain; but that's not the same as what you said.
  18. You had the option of deleting in that situation, until I posted this reply. Now you need an admin for cover.
  19. True. The season is fickle and Lady Luck does not smile down on the talented every time. True. Pitchers get removed from the rotation long before that.
  20. You've got the quote wrong: "Ah, dead hookers. The cause of, and the solution to, all of life's problems."
  21. The weather's also been used to explain bad pitching performances like Pelfrey's. I'd be curious if anyone's done a study that tries to either separate myth from fact, or can identify what kinds of player are helped more by heat, cold, drizzle, meteor showers, and Godzilla sightings.
  22. > The dinger was Plouffe's fourth this season, placing him second on the team behind Josh Willingham. There are other ways to express the futility one month into what was supposed to be a pretty good offense this season, but this is about as good as any.
  23. Not a showstopper, but Thomas is not on the Twins' 40-man roster. If you bring him up, you have to remove someone else and expose him to waivers.
