  1. It needs to be mentioned that Todd Helton is no spring chicken anymore.
  2. Just wait until you talk shop with a college Physics professor someday. Prepare. To. Have. Your. Mind. Blown.
  3. Let's not make this another Rick Anderson thread.
  4. Man, you really like to brag about your age, don't you.
  5. A trade or two may make this decision obvious, if not then cutting one depth options will free up the needed space for a guy they consider to have a high enough ceiling.
  6. Mauer leads his team in total PA, and not by a close margin. Mauer is not first in RISP opportunities, and not by a close margin. For a counting stat like RBI, this matters more than a minor disparity in his rate of production this year. As stated elsewhere, other guys are fattening up their RBI due to Mauer being on base.
  7. ... not that there's anything wrong with that.
  8. Rolling over and not waking up for 10.5 hours does not count as a nap.
  9. Sorry, you are caller #101. Thanks, and keep listening!
  10. I didn't realize anyone would be in mourning about it. My apologies.
  11. He used to bring a ham sandwich with him up to bat, so this wouldn't be unusual.
  12. I guess a Florimon home run isn't the worst way to score a couple of runs.
  13. You can look around other threads at TD for more serious discussion of this, but just for fun here, I'll add that Perkins and Plouffe are under discussion in a full "blow up" mode because they potentially could gain high-end but not-ready talent in return. Mauer, among your maybes, seems difficult to move for various reasons, unless he gets fed up and demands a trade.
  14. Tied 1-1 is losing? This team really *is* in a funk.
  15. He should keep playing. Resigning should be only in case of a scandal or something. / or, if a manager's team has stopped hitting
  16. I guess a Florimon caught-stealing isn't the best way to end an inning.
  17. I guess a Florimon walk isn't the worst way to start an inning.
  18. General Illness > Major Illness > Nishioka's MLB career
  19. Folks, I came across this thread about a week too late, and want to issue fair warning: TD moderators are all moving toward a zero-tolerance policy for the kind of comment that turned into a side-issue near the end of this thread. Immediate deletions of such posts without discussion can be expected, and further actions such as bans may result when warranted. I realize the offense has already been apologized for here, and accepted in good grace, but going forward we're simply not going to have traces of such stuff littering the forums. Please review the Comments Policy if you are unclear, but keep in mind also that no Policy can cover everything, so take to heart John Bonnes's advice to just avoid the limits if you think you are close. Probably 99% of posts at TD don't even require scrutiny, so don't be paranoid about the long arm of the law, either.
  20. Most nut jobs are good guys, in small doses, until you cross them somehow. IMHO.
  21. I've seen Phil Hughes' name mentioned as an acquisition target, in another thread. I hope the Twins front office realizes that if they trade for him, he won't be able to put up as good strikeout numbers, because he won't be periodically facing the Twins.
