  1. Enjoyable game - let's have about 20 more in a row like this after the break.
  2. Did you remember to enter the drawing to win a chance to pitch an inning this game? Looks like everyone's getting a turn before the break.
  3. It was actually a joke told by my Economics professor, making a point about... well, all I remember now is elephant-rabbit stew.
  4. Nonsense. The beer I'm having during this ballgame is quite meaningful.
  5. Ever had albatross-kangaroo stew? Delicious. / unrelated, but I tried elephant-rabbit stew once. Tasted mostly like elephant
  6. Really lasted a whole lot longer, too.
  7. Game threads are for fun. Fact.
  8. Meanwhile, Gibson is demonstrating the value of a strikeout pitch in certain situations, in reverse.
  9. If the score were reversed, I'd also kangaroo court him after the game. "You swung, at *that*?"
  10. If the lead holds up, the kangaroo court after the game will be a merry one.
  11. That blind squirrel still has his tail. Try again.
  12. What's six unearned run, among friends?
  13. Also from the pbp: Joe Mauer Strike (swinging), Strike (swinging), Ball, Ball, Foul, Ball, Ball, J Mauer walked The "Joe doesn't try in the clutch" crowd will just look at the walk and say that he wimps out when two guys are in scoring position. But the pitch-by-pitch tells another story. Sometimes you try and fail, and eventually the pitcher walks you because you won't swing at slop; that won't stop the narrative some people wish to carry.
  14. The reason to compare them is obvious. You could also invalidate a comparison by saying that one has little power, one has no power, and one has a lot of potential for power; but I don't see a reason to squelch conversation on that account either. / I didn't list them in the same order as in the thread title, but hopefully that didn't obscure my point
  15. ftfy / because, you know, he's old
  16. Can someone watching the game please decode this pbp: Z Almonte grounded into fielder's choice to center, I Suzuki safe at third on error by second baseman B Dozier FC to center? Grounded?
  17. All right, folks. If you choose to take a swing at this hanging curve, at the very least, be kind.
  18. Good reason to root for this outcome. Has anyone ever won ROY and Comeback Player of the Year in the same season? I'll have to check.
  19. That's a fact. / Expect to hear from the kangaroo court shortly.
  20. One of my least favorite players of the past decade, through no fault of his own really. A lumbering center fielder, back in the day, just made me go "ugh".
  21. Mild trolling in a game thread is condoned, when done deftly (Chief seems to always get a pass on those grounds). Falling for the troll... that earns you an eye-roll smiley face when Brock implements one.
  22. Kind of bush league for the Twins to even try it. Expect retribution when Gibson comes up to bat.
  23. Didn't Chief just caution someone else about bringing facts into a game thread?
