  1. Was Benson hurt/unavailable? Thought they werent playin him cause he was strugglin/not hurt
  2. If there was an underlying injury when the trade was made with the Sox there might be grounds to quash the trade for Liriano, but then again, Hernandez was probably given the AOK/All Clear by the Twins medical staff in the first place, so, nevermind. Twins possibly didnt notice that Pedro was actually a right handed pitcher for the Sox when he blew that arm out. So can we predict the date next year when Hernandez has his TJ surgery.
  3. Hate it passionately Pitchers go on 4 days rest....if you let them go on 5 days rest now when you are 'judging them', you still dont know if they can do it in a normal situation. Why cant Gardy come to grips that Duensing is FAR more valuable as a reliever/spot starter, than as a full time guy?? Put him back in the pen. If Diamond comes up lame from a 5 man rotation.....he was gonna come up lame regardless of using a 5/6/7/8 man rotation. These guys need to pitch MORE than less....take a cue from Nolan I say & quit babyin em cause that hasnt worked.
  4. its ok cause they wont DL him for another 10 days
  5. oh oh, that smells of Gardy wanting to get Blackburn back!!!
  6. Lot of the problem with DLing Span is who do you call up. MN has made it clear they will not call up Parmelle, Arcia, Benson right now as they are in the playoff hunt :roll:and they need Escobar to play 3B....who else is there. They cannot help the MLB team since it would hurt their minot league teams too much!!!
  7. at least they can limit him to 160 innings in his first full year back & not have to explain it.
  8. Ryan hinted strongly last nite about the open slots bein used for Aaron Hicks.....that enough will keep me interested
  9. Majority of other teams have that overpaid player or 2 that there fans think there is NO way they can be dealt.....cept for another player of that ilk
  10. Not saying its something to do....but it will be this type Nick/Nishi's 8.5m deals to MIA for Heath Bell & his 9m deal w/MIA picking up 9m (basically the 2014 salary) 2 teams dumping salary of player they dont want
  11. I am by far not a Gardy supporter, but its not Gardy who runs the pitching staff....he gives Rick Anderson almost full power. Several people have had severe problems with the bullpen use this yr, so I agree with ya. However, you lose me completely by trying to justify Gray's problems
  12. Does that include today's nice 2-4 showing? believe so
  13. 53gms since June 1st 58/188 .309/.340/.436 23runs 7doubles triple 5HR 28rbi 19k 7bb 2hbp at very least, he could be ROC's utility guy & earn the starting spot
  14. Puerto Rico is in the Carrribean Winter Lg so he would be ineligible IF he maintains residence there, I believe. Agree whole-heartedly in the rest of you arguements 4 position players @ Ft Myers is all that matter (Pinto, Michaels, Santana, Ray & maybe a couple roster fillers), but there are quite a few pitchers that still have promise (prospects like Tonkin or minor league filler).
  15. 1st - this is a silly goal. 2nd - does your list include any pitchers beside Dylan Bundy? looked but .......no:cry: Needling some with Berrios, would be very happy if he starts the season in Low A & pitches the whole year there. If he dominates tho....want to see a promotion. Hard to compare last yrs to this yrs, as this yrs got in a full half-season of ball
  16. Havent been a huge fan of the 25yr old Minneapolis/U of M player, for his first 4 yrs, due to his lackluster hitting numbers for a 1B/3B propect that kept getting promoted. Beloit 107gms .253/.322/.353 in 360ABs 47runs 21doubles 3triples 3HR 30rbi 65k 31bb 6/9sb High A 162gms .259/.325/.385 in 611ABs 71runs 30doubles triple 15HR 78rbi 101K 53bb 3/4sb New Brit 146gms .263/.305/.364 495ABs 54runs 25doubles 2triples 7HR 66rbi 59k 31bb 3/5sb improved in 2nd yr with .280/.316/.379 in 86gms this yr However, this year the team has moved him to 2B & he has 1 error in 31 starts @ the position. His numbers play WAY more in the middle than on the corner, esp with the lack of middle INF depth the Twins have at the higher levels. Anyone hear anything else about how he's played defensively and whether MN plans on putting him in AFL to get more work in the infield before possibly moving up to ROC?
  17. think he's built up enough equaty to at least get the starting spot next year. Definately coulda used more gms in ROC...but its not the Twins way
  18. throwing a name out there for debate. 21yr old 10th round pick out of St Pete (FL) JC, after transfering from Bishop St where he was a 33rd round pick by Dodgers. According to reports I found, he's a 89/91 fastball guy (hooray) but I noticed he got his first 3 starts for ELIZ, goin 14.2IP 7h .137BAA 3er 1.84ERA 23K 4bb. Know its ELIZ, but those are nice numbers in a hitters lg. Overall with 12 other relief appearances 39.2IP 34h .218BAA 9er 2.04ERA 46k 10bb The K numbers caught my eye. Will keep an eye on him for last couple starts & hope he starts in Low A next yr (wherever that is)
  19. Arcia/Hicks/Parmellee should all be up & mostly they would take ABs away from Ryan Doumit as a possible DH as well as resting one guy per nite (Mauer/Justin/3 OF's). They DONT have to play, but should be up to get the AA guys feet wet at the very least.
  20. think Gardy's postgame comments may show how the organization views him. He wasnt complimentary today & said he/they cannot afford to walk that many, that it'll catch up with him & blamed some of the hitting problems on Duduno's pace/long innings.
  21. Ive also mentioned Josmil Pinto, who is actually a FA if not added. His case is unique as there arent many teams that protect 3, let alone 4 catchers like MN will. Is possibly losing him to a team that he has a better chance to move up the ranks worth protecting 5 catchers....or would MN get rid of Drew Butera?? Wonder how much 'cat & mouse' negotiating there will be between MN & Josmil reps. There just arent many solid catching options (at minor league levels) around to risk losing one IMO. I would probably take a chance on Pugh/Watts....but they are definately in the conversation as MN cannot afford to lose many hard throwers.
  22. what about Ft Myers reliever Michael Tonkin, who is up for RULE V. 89K .207BAA 2.08ERA in 65innings. Sure he would be protected in the minor league portion, but would a HOU/SD type take that type of longshot ??
  23. Arcia may be the only 'young' guy we get to see....team is making no hints about Hicks/Hermann etc due to 40 man spots available (what a crock) & some argue that Arcia shouldnt/wont get called up...which is assinine. Cant see them finishing with as bad a record as last yr but with the pitching staff hitching its hopes to Blackburn/Deduno(gonna catch up with him....Gardy says so also) & saying they will not allow Diamond to get much past 200 total innings...it could get scary.
  24. Needing to hear an objective Vikings radio broadcast to save your life > Jeff Gray
  25. He is bein sent to the Instructional Lg in Sept & AFL in OCT....per a Terry Ryan interview of whether they would call him up in Sept. Said they hope to get him around 70/75 innings thru it all.
