  1. Hermsen has 156.2IP Darnell 145 IP not that big of a difference. I take it as a lack of faith in BJ, which will truly be shown when the 40 man rosters come out. I woulda thought they would want to see BJ's average 'stuff' play against the better players in AFL.
  2. Have the rules changed.....have always read that its only 1 player below AA? Pretty close to what I had predicted (got Gibson/Benson/Bigley) Had Lance Ray over Tonkin w/Levi Michaels a sleeper...solid add Really thought they would have Hermsen over Darnell. Think it speaks volumns of what MN think of BJ (needs to be added this offseason or Rule V eigible) Thielbar is fine but I thought Matt Hauser might get a look, or maybe even Nate Hanson Other than Darnell, pretty solid list of guys who may be in MN next yr
  3. Im not a Mauer basher....never have been. Im not for trading him because of the contract, but because the team has come to the conlusion that he cannot be an everyday catcher anymore. His catcher defense right now is one of MLBs worst (era/baserunning). If he can be fulltime, Gardy is completely against it. Guess it comes down to me that Im willing to deal Mauer because I dont believe Gardy knows how to use him properly. Gardy MUST have a 3rd C that doesnt play, in case the baseball appocolytpse happens I guess, for a situation that hasnt come up in 5 yrs. Gardy also refuses to believe that Mauers lack of power make him the best #2 hitter in baseball but keeps him hitting 3rd. Its not the lack of HRs but overall lack of doubles/triples also that makes his run producing far below average for a #3 hitter.
  4. Many of the board crucified me, a couple wks ago, when I predicted that MN WOULD attempt (at least) to re-sign Carl Pavano. This is how the organization runs....people have got to get used to it. They went bargain basement last yr & it worked out, for the most part. It was NOT free agent spending because of Target Field. MN/Terry Ryan will NEVER be free agent players, not because of money but because they dont believe in giving out the length of contract that you need to be a player. Get used to the same next year. Its nobody's fault in the organization, Ryan says it, cause they do everything correctly. Its the players fault.....grrrr
  5. Playing time should be irrelevant as these guys dont have to play to learn alot I also dont care if guys like Span, Mauer, Morny etc play. Mn knows exactly what they have. Mn kept WRamos in AAA because of service time......that worked out well. Quit worrying about small market thinking
  6. Ive said in a couple threads that i think Mn will go after SP Jeremy Guthrie. Fits the Twins MO on pitchers.... will be cheap, pitched more than 200IP for several yrs, had a solid era in hitters haven of Balt, but throws hard (still 94mph ave)
  7. No to Vasquez, 2 spots on 40 man open Rosario only out today, Sano sat SAT....just days off I believe
  8. part of the problem is also THEY think/thought that Jeff Gray could be a successful pitcher. Pretty much they should KNOW that answer by now. As a fan, I would like to KNOW if Slama can get MLB hitters out instead of being told he cant.
  9. Have no problem if they make Levi repeat High A, but since June 1st (68gms) he's hitting .276 (64/232) w/.368OBP--.332Slgg leaves something to be desired. He had a horrendous May (.168BA) after a so-so April (.250)
  10. if you break it down by Jeff Gray's 52 IP.......Gray is 69th out of 70 qualified w/4.53 K/9...last is Alex Burnett w/3.53:cry:...Anthony Swarzak is also 60th w/6.03....one thing our righthanded relievers can do is NOT strike guys out.....no wonder they dont want Slama Gray is last in ERA w/5.71 out of the 70 'qualified' relievers
  11. It wouldn't hurt him at all... and if he's as good as we all believe, he'll rake and be up in Rochester within 6 weeks. Same thing with Hicks really. there is nothing that stuns me with how MN runs its minor leagues......either of these would do it
  12. Dont think Arcia will, but definately believe they could do this with Benson....whom I predict is gonna be dealt this winter anyways.
  13. if they dont bring him up in Sept, wonder if he'd ask for his release
  14. since June 1st 80gms 100/309 .324/.389/.511 47runs 26doubles triple 10hr 60 rbi 58k 27bb
  15. it is one of the more mind boggling (non) decisions this organization has made. All they have to do is give him a full month of 10gms (10/12innings) to silence the Slama-ites or for him to prove the evaluators wrong
  16. For those anti-Gardy people or those that just want a change.....its not that he cant manage, he'll get hired again. He is gonna manage back to back 90 loss teams when it can be argued that the team can look like its goin thru the motions. If they have 'tuned' him out, this is why it may be time for a change.
  17. Yup.....Nate Hanson.....sorry Fixed it Bromberg is a guy (6 yr FA also) that I just dont get what MN thinks/want out of him....absolutely should be in AAA NOW imo.
  18. started his demotion 3/43 w/ 2runs scored, 0rbi in his first 12gms (all singles) with 8K 0bb better news in 2nd game of DH as he looked like Dozier of last yr..... 3-3, double w/bb 4runs rbi
  19. Since the initial bombing of Gray in MIL on May 20th when people kept saying 'it was only a 1gm outing...why are some people upset' 32gms 34IP 43h 29er 7.67era 14k 14bb 6hr.......pretty solid 3 months
  20. huh....10 pitches 3 runs.... Does Butera get credit for the DeVries outing, but not for the Gray inning????
  21. Wouldnt you think that a tired 98 pitch DeVries (5IP 3h 1er 0bb 5k) is better than a fresh Gray......wrote this before Josh's HR also
  22. What have you heard on Rosario...couple things Ive read is they are happy/OK with his debut defensive year.
  23. what I figured.....poors man David Ortiz (David Arias as this age??) type of prosect?? His numbers are equal to Sano's thru first 32gms .....we were all salivating on him, think Kennys gets forgotten. Vargas 118Abs .305/.415/.627 10HRs 29rbi Miguel 115Abs .304/.424/.652 10hr 32rbi ....it was exactly 32 gms before Sano hit the skids for 2months Sano went 12/75 (.160BAve 3HR 9rbi) the rest of May over the next 21gms (followed by a poor June) to kill any chance of a promotion ....Vargas doesnt have that time to compare...DAMN Both homered today for BEL
  24. Butera waived....do you even KNOW this organization!!! What an offseason xmas present, do need to add 1 or 2 Cs to 40 man tho Agree on the SS...for arguement sake, I just picked Escobar unless we sign a SS (love the Stephen Drew idea). Deduno, Walters, Manship, Vasquez (if added) & Guerra are all out of options...dont see anyone but Esmeril as having a chance to make the team....Perdomo WILL be taken off 40 man, Waldrop could (50/50 on it) as could Cole for sure (think he has a shot to stay, depending on how he finishes of course). For AA purposes also, guys like Roberts/Rosario/Sano/Vargas/Wickens could be fast (June 1) promotions so you may not want anyone there that isnt expendable. They didnt promote em this year, but MN has shown it will promote out of High A relatively fast if you play well (Hermsen/Arcia/Dozier/Hermann for ex). Its AA, they get stuck at.
  25. If we're doin baserunning mistakes.....I wanna see Denard's score
