  1. Why....why.....why......do you throw that pitch to that chump!!!????? I'm yell posting in LARGE FONT until we get a hit!!!!
  2. Somebody hit the f****ng!!!!!! ball...................SOMEBODY......ANYBODY!!!!!!
  3. ??????????????????WTF...too much misleading use of statistics to invent reasons to complain about Denard Span. Oranges are really apples if we just pretend that they are.
  4. Just watched that movie again on the plane last week, it retains it's charm but sadly looked all too familiar....except for the winning part.
  5. LOL......that seriously is not a bad idea at this point!
  6. Revere maybe, and that's a BIG maybe, sure Benson can play CF but how do you replace Span's bat with a guy hitting .179 and strikes out an average of 100 times a year? I agree Span will bring the best return but I shudder to think what that does to an offense that already can't get a hit, let alone score a run.
  7. Yeah, I have to agree, I like Dozier and I wish him well but this whole thing smacks of desperation, yes things are looking bad but it's still early May and I'm not sure that's in order (except if it involves our starting rotation). This is at least the 4th move I'd classify as knee-jerk so far and that is disappointing, Hughes released so early, signing Clete Thomas, reassigning Burroughs and now this. There are moves that are made because they are considered and deliberate and there are moves that are made just for the sake of making them in order to keep up appearances. If the original intent was to sign Carroll for depth and have him serve as a utility player further on into the season until Dozier was more prepared, then that should still be the plan in my mind. Now I'm not really sure what the plan was, granted the injury to Baker, poor hitting by Carroll and indifferent play from Valencia has altered the plan some but it had to have been a pretty thin plan if this is now being offered up as an alternative.
  8. A 31 year old "prospect"? Entering his prime? Half of Clete Thomas is still not good.
  9. A lot of people getting what they've been asking for with Dozier coming up. I'll be very interested to see how long it takes some of his cheerleaders on this board to feed him to the wolves if he doesn't make the desired impact. The size of his impact should be measured, he's playing well at AAA but at this point, not so well that his call-up should have had most of us saying "what the hell have you been waiting for"? Luke Hughes had a great spring as well, I don't need to go further I'm sure. I hope it's the right move that may spark the team, although I'm not a big believer in "sparks" winning ball games comes from execution and the Twins simply are not doing that. I'll be cheering for him, I'm a fan, it would be nice to see Revere get his chance after the Komatsu experiment fails, bring him in to platoon with Plouffe. What's the deal with Kyle Waldrop? He looked as if he was going to make the 25 man coming out of spring but then his arm flared up, is he still rehabbing? Has he thrown some innings. I thought he looked somewhat promising, a lot better than Maloney and Gray.
  10. I don't think at the time the deals were done for the above players anyone really had an issue with it. Because a lot of those players have fallen short of expectations for various reasons it's easy to say now that the Twins should have foreseen that and been smarter. They thought they had a lineup that justified the expense, based on previous performance, in the Rays case, they didn't necessarily. The biggest problem in baseball is that the biggest money typically gets spent after a big contract player has played his best baseball, it's like they've earned the right to be overpaid. So if you're saying the Twins should recognize this and not fall into that type of mentality then you're right. It would make them even less popular with most of their fans then they already are however.
  11. I was really impressed by the performance of the bullpen last night. Duensing, Perkins and Capps were lights out.. I got the feeling all three of them went into that game and just said "f**k this" we're not letting this get away. It may sound corny but they had the game faces on, especially Perkins, he was throwing some serious heat and his slider was back to old form. Say what you like about Capps but if he gets that split finger to work like that one he threw last night, he'll get a lot more batters out.
  12. Drives you crazy with this team? Garbage money gets spent with every team, it's the nature of the business.
  13. Yes. that makes sense, I didn't know we were talking about sense. I'm just saying it's kind of the code, for most guys, not all, in fact it's more and more generally regarded as "Old school". I guess I like old school baseball. I didn't say it makes sense. You should read the book I referenced earlier, some of the stuff in there is just cracked and you get the impression that most of the guys don't really buy it but they don't question it, it's just the way. Pretty funny.
  14. Most of this is jibberish but my point was, if you want to bunt to break up a no hitter there is a good chance the next guy up is taking one for the team. My guess is that, if that were you, you wouldn't support it so much. My tag name gives a clue as to where I am, not sure why that matters.
  15. Exactly, well said, thank you.
  16. Have any of you ever read the "The Baseball Codes"? great read, a collection of interviews from players on all of the insane unwritten rules of baseball. One from Jack Morris about a guy stealing signs from second and his response is priceless.
  17. Pretty funny stuff, a lot of tough talk from the peanut gallery who won't have to be the next guy up to take a fastball in the back. If it was a close game then it's 50/50, that game was never close, man up and get a legitimate hit
  18. Here, here. It's disappointing to see so many guys on this board want to just cut Hendriks adrift, makes no sense. He would have been in Rochester if Baker didn't go down and he should be there now.
  19. Plouffe should be given more time, to think we've seen everything we're going to get is impulsive. All the guys advocating that he be released, are the same guys who rail against the Twins because some other former prospects of ours are actually playing elsewhere. It's too soon. I 'll go along with Mastroianni replacing Thomas, even if it's just to improve the teams overall SO ratio.
  20. LOL.......maybe we can sign Roy Hobbs too!!
  21. Perfect response to this thread. These are grown men, give me break.
  22. Too much, the guys on the bench who gave up the gum for Capps would be pretty upset. The seeds maybe, but not the seeds AND the gum.
  23. What a load of self-serving, self aggrandizing B.S. Yeah you're a real Joan Garcia, someone gag me...please! First of all, I am one of the alleged Gardy "apologists" and did not at any point claim he had no value to the Twins. You said in your original post "Where are his priorities"? Which assumes the question "with his daughter or with his team"? It also infers that his priorities should be with the Twins and if they aren't it proves he is not the right guy for the job. From a person who is responsible for a considerable amount of employee hiring, he is exactly the kind of guy any self respecting organization desires to have working for them. It's reassuring that the people he works for have the same values.
  24. Black market, of course.
  25. Exactly where they should be, with his family, just like anyone else with half a brain and an ounce of personal integrity.
