  1. Another tough night for our young prospect, lasted just 2 1/3 and didn't really do much of anything right. Bad location, bad pitch selection and made a couple of rookie mistakes allowing base runners to advance rather easily. It's really too bad that Hendriks is in this position, he's clearly not ready to assume such heavy responsibility. While he possesses a pretty good arsenal of pitches, he is still adjusting to the much more important mental side of the game at the major league level. His command is not always what it should be and he leaves far too many pitches in places you just can't with major league hitters. I believe that comes from him feeling the pressure to be perfect and not trusting is stuff, he lacks the confidence right now to get ahead of batters and stay there, to go after them and believe he can get them to swing at what he wants them to swing at. I'd really like to see Hendriks head back down to Rochester, although the season has only just begun, the way things are looking it would be more beneficial to move Swarzak into the rotation and let Hendriks work on his game in AAA. I still believe he can pitch effectively for this team someday.
  2. Kinda fitting though, don't you think? No pitching and now officially no hitting...............Elvis has left the building.
  3. He's 23 years old and can throw 5 different pitches, he can be a solid #4 guy, give him time. I'd also mention I don't believe he's our top prospect, I think that still goes to Gibson. As far as ridiculous goes, think what you like, you're entitled, people who live in glass houses though................
  4. Nice catch Clete..............there I said something nice.
  5. I'd give my left nut for a guy like Weaver.
  6. Pretty good actually, because he's still just that, a prospect. He shouldn't be here and this is what happens when you rush prospects. He still has a lot of upside.
  7. Look for scapegoats all you like, we don't need a better manager, we need better players.
  8. Lol, I don't take anything personally or seriously (Butera might though), life's too short. Beside's my answer was rhetorical.
  9. That's one word...I didn't read the rest but it's the right word. We can talk in circles all we want about replacements, who at the end of the day are insignificantly better or worse than the players we think they should replace. Fact is, this team would be 4-6 games better right now if we had decent, not great, decent pitching. 2 Quality starts so far and we're talking about Bobby Abreu ,Vlad and Derek Lee???
  10. I'd doubt he's going to play so well as to make a difference, so why?
  11. Ok, Javier Vasquez hit .179 in 67 PA's and Chris Volstad hit .196 in 54 PA's for the Marlins last year ( maybe we should hire the Marlins hitting coach)!!! , Joe Saunders .197/ 67 PA'a, Dodgers......that's 3, Butera hit .167.... let's call it a day shall we? Butera shouldn't have a bat in his hands.
  12. Somehow I don't think Joe Vavra is the one responsible for getting Thomas to swing at every pitch that moves in a forward direction towards the plate. The problem with Thomas is he seems to think every pitch is his pitch and he couldn't read a pitch sequence if the pitcher wrote it down for him. Secondly, you should always play your best players, shouldn't matter where.
  13. I'm in, I won't quit my day job but I'm in.
  14. I'd love to see the scouting report on Thomas, probably goes something like this; "Is almost legally blind, pretty much anything will do, don't worry about having to stay away from certain pitches, he can't hit any of them. Has never had a walk in his life.If we have to have a plan then for sh**s and giggles let's go fastball in, fastball away, change-up. That should do it.
  15. That's a big WHATEVER! You mean just after he developed rotator cuff issues and lit up double A ball with an ERA over 9? He's done nothing since, until last year when he notched a few wins. He pitched a good game tonight, we helped, he wasn't exactly a can't miss prospect back in '07, except on your list I assume. If he played for the Twins now, everyone would be cutting him up about being another Terry Ryan pitch to contact droid.
  16. Not sure how you come to that conclusion. I just think Williams had them frustrated, it happens.
  17. Jerome Williams does that pitch to contact crap pretty well.
  18. I swear to god Howie Kendrick has made every out.
  19. It's been the Twins way tonight, they're all hacking. I agree though, he's a waste of space.
  20. That Howie Kendrick has been one busy dude.
  21. Clete Thomas has struck out 12 times in his last 8 at bats.
  22. Nice escape!!!! It may not be pretty but that's not Psycho Frankie...averaging 1K/inning
  23. You forgot to take your Valium..............it'll help.
  24. Let's all jump on Smalley for questioning the Twins plate discipline.........or is that easy enough for everyone to see?
