  1. Proof please? You know Joe Mauer? Wow, where did you meet him? Do you guys like , hang out and stuff? Someone was going to pay Mauer that money, if the Twins didn't everyone would have cried how cheap the Twins are, kind of like this year when they dropped payroll. Get over it, crying about it now is sour grapes and just the way it rolls sometimes, spilled milk as they say (two food analogies in one sentence).
  2. I didn't say "no impact", I said "minimal impact" and that refers to the outcome of the game once it starts. Simply put, they don't play. I agree fully that Gardenhire and many managers don't deserve the heaps of praise they get when their teams win and most don't deserve the heaps of abuse when they lose. Obviously wherever the manager's influence mainly lies Gardy had an awful lot of it in the past decade, what's changed other than the player's. Yeah, Gardy threw Valencia under the bus enough to play him in 154 games last year. If he had a real choice I'm sure it would have been to throw him in front of it at 100 mph.
  3. I would also agree with that. Another manager could have very well had as much success or more than Gardy with the same teams. Obviously someone in the Twins organization values Gardy for other reasons, reasons that mean more than won/loss records. I've praised Gardy in the past but I've never said someone else couldn't have done just as good a job on the field, that success isn't all his to own.
  4. At the end of the day, yes it's all about the talent. The two guys you refer to are in the HOF, did certain people have an impact on their games?Sure, is it what put them in the HOF? No, that would be their talent. If Gardy had two players with that ability, we wouldn't be talking about this. A good manager influences how a player best uses their talents, how to refine their already obvious talents and to give them the belief that they are talented enough. It's still up to the player to perform and those guys performed. If Carew and Blyleven had insignificant careers would we be sitting here blaming Billy Martin or Tom Kelly? So every failed major leaguer has a manager somewhere to blame for not being a more positive influence? Prove to me Gardy is not a positive influence, seems to me he's trying the hell out of getting Danny Valencia to realize what a good player he could be if he used his talent differently. It's Gardy's fault that Valencia either refuses to listen or maybe, after all, just lacks the ability to do it? Fire Gardy because he can't be a positive enough influence to make players like Valencia or Plouffe into Hall of Famers like Carew and Blyleven? C'mon! Don't change the messenger, change the guys not getting the message.
  5. R What makes you say Gardy isn't being accountable? There is a difference between being accountable and being responsible. I get the sense Gardy holds himself accountable. who is he pointing fingers at? What does his performance have to do with the team's performance on the field? Do you really believe the manager of a MLB team should still be responsible for teaching his player's how to play? I think they should have that down by now. The player's are responsible for their performance and should be the 1st one's held accountable. It's far more likely this team plays better with different players than a different manager.
  6. Noooooo, I'm saying there is already enough with the Twins to complain about without having to add Rochester to the list.
  7. LOL, I think that would be true if there wasn't already so much to complain about.
  8. He also said "We'll see" twice, you're right, he's selling it but he's also hedging his bets. Yeah, "Battling his tail off" is code for, using every drop of talent he has just to be a decent AAA player.
  9. I think that part of his comments tells you how he really feels, he's not convinced but accepts they have to try things to change this s**t show of a baseball team. What do you expect him to say? This bites, this kid isn't the answer, I don't know what the f**k Terry is thinking?
  10. Apparently Pavano was mentoring Hendriks before he got sent down, who else would have taught him it's a good idea to throw gopher balls over the plate to major league hitters. That's not a fantasy, it's a nightmare.
  11. Someone had to call that one.
  12. Parms gotta hang in there better than that. He's looking more lost all the time, I know he's in a tough spot PH but you have to make the guy work a little.
  13. Duensing goes a full 3....interesting.
  14. Their not the one's who played the Globetrotters, that's clue 1.
  15. I believe this as well, I've been trying to say it for weeks.
  16. I couldn't agree more, it might be the lamest argument out there, it's an excuse in the strong presence of actual fact.
  17. It is, but Hunter is a dick, no surprise here. He'd also tip his cap to himself.
  18. Agreed, I'd love to see it and as ShaneWahl points out he so far has done a lot of the little things right, like charging the ball, that was probably my favorite part of his game over his first two starts. He appears to be a gamer in the field and at the plate, I for one just don't want to up his shoe size quite yet.
  19. I think a bunch of those guys finally noticed the acorn.
  20. Is that like a 'put that in your pipe and smoke it" type response because someone else shares your perception of reality? Whatever reality you live in is an angry one, that's for sure. Some good spin from your partner in crime there, but it's just that, spin.
  21. I thought Gardy managed a great game tonight, really did a good job of sitting there and letting his players play. I do question his tactics in telling Valencia to hack away like a high schooler but his obvious influence on Diamond was evident. Ron was clearly the difference in the game tonight.
