  1. Remarkably he does have 6 extra base hits in 82 AB's. He also has 6 SB's in that short time.
  2. That's why I see some hope for Diamond and to a lesser extent Walters and both of them have a better fastball than Pavano and guys like Chen.
  3. Seeing as Frankie is starting again, I just wanted to point out to those who wrote off his performance as hollow because it came against a poor hitting team in the A's, that the same A's team ripped Texas for 15 hits and 12 runs last night. The fact they didn't do that to Liriano says something about how well he pitched and how well an MLB team can hit if a pitcher is not performing.
  4. Kind of blows a hole in the argument that you need to throw 90mph to stick in this league for awhile. Changing speeds and lots of movement can keep you around.
  5. Buxton himself could become a valuable trade piece for an area of need when he gets closer to being big league ready, who knows but they did take the best player available, that's kind of a no-brainer.
  6. They could certainly do better at the plate than Carroll is currently producing but I hardly think 3.75 mil is a "killer". Granted that money would be far better spent towards some pitching but it doesn't exactly cripple them, especially considering his versatility and effectiveness in the field. Does anyone else find it strange that Carroll eats bats? Maybe they have lots of fibre, he is almost 40.
  7. See the little icon to the right of Reply With Quote? That's the multi-quote button, hit that to quote the first message you want to appear, for the next quote you want to appear just hit the "Reply with Quote" button on that message and it will appear under the first message and so on, voila.
  8. I don't think posts in non-fee paying baseball websites qualifies as plagiarism. I didn't read this elsewhere, I found it interesting. Still trying to figure out who Carrlo is though.
  9. Exactly, why is everyone in such a rush to judge? He's got a swing, let him work it out.
  10. Oh my, you are from Beverly Hills! Tell you what glunn, you seem like a good egg, when I open my Poutine stand at Target your first order is free! You'll be converted. Now if I can just find an angle on that work visa thing........damn you Yankee protectionists, don't you know what you're missing!?
  11. Thank god there is at least 2 people who can mix their Twins obsession with a sense of humour. On a serious note, Bark, I like the inclusion of Rosario at 2nd although in 2014 I'm torn between him and Florimon, Rosario 2015, other than that, aces.
  12. I don't get it either, I don't believe Garbe ever played an inning of AAA let alone majors. Plouffe is worth waiting on for at least this season, if he can learn some discipline and find his pitches he has a good swing and has flashed some power. Quote all the metrics you want, it's yesterday's news, he's a young guy who if he figures it out, has some raw tools to do well.
  13. The only issue with poutine is the people who insist on putting ketchup on it, those people should be arrested, I am not in that group. Really RB, you don't like Poutine? you seem like a well travelled guy, you must have had some good poutine, what's the issue? It has 4 of the same letters as Plouffe. I hear you though.
  14. Most accurate comments in this entire thread.
  15. Ok, they have egg on their face, now what?
  16. Oh, I'm ignorant? Nice post, as the saying goes, people in glass houses..... Clearly you are one of those guys who takes himself Waaaay too seriously, if you're that easily offended, you need some medication. Chill out bud, we're talking about baseball, not the cure for cancer.
  17. Hendriks got roughed up last night in Charlotte. 5.0 innings 7 hits, 6 earned runs, including 2 HR, 1 SO, 2 BB. He did throw 53 strikes on 86 pitches, sounds like too many over the wrong part of the plate, which was his problem with the big club. Oh well, might be awhile yet, see how he rebounds next time out, not the end of the world by any means.
  18. Well the "Sabre Dude" thing was a little tongue in cheek, you seem like a well balanced Sabre Dude CDog , I think the real hardcore SD's would have turned the game off because there wasn't a statistically high enough chance for the Twins to win with a walk-off HR.
  19. A full time DH who has started 44 games in left field? People who buy tickets do need something of interest to watch, it's pretty easy to just suggest we trade away every legitimate major leaguer for prospects but it just doesn't work that way. No discredit to Hammer but I have doubts anyone is going to give away the farm to grab him anyway, he did sign with the Twins for 7 per over 3.
  20. Maybe not but as far as falling behind 2-0, 3-0 it depends what you call frequently. He only fell behind in those counts 6 times and none back to back, that is very un-Frankie like. One of those was Crisp in the 5th when he followed up 3 balls with 3 clean strikes to a lifetime .273 hitter, not bad. I think him falling behind in those counts was different yesterday because he had such good command of his fastball and he mixed his pitches well. Better hitters might have jumped on him but I don't think it would have been his un-doing. 3 of those counts went to Reddick once and Gomes twice, as bad as the A's are hitting, those guys are no chumps, if someone on that team is going to make the pitcher pay you figure it would have been them.
  21. I just watched the replay (again) and this is bang on, his delivery today was, with exception of some spots in the 3rd inning, very repeatable and consistent. He rarely lost his fastball up and away, most of his misses were down, his fastball had velocity and pretty good location all game, his two seamer was moving like a bastard and when he went to the slider it was lights out. Because he was reliable with his fastballs he didn't have to overuse his slider, which he has had to do in the past with no effect, it was great to see. His change up was pretty bloody good as well and that was definitely helped by 94 mph fastballs across the plate, 94 must seem like 100 after you've been fed an 86 mph change up. He kept his head about him with runner's on, which might have been the best part of his performance. I know Oakland isn't exactly Murderer's row but as I think Chief pointed out, they are a major league team, as we've witnessed from the Twins a team hitting poorly can break out at any time, especially if the pitcher is showing some vulnerability. Liriano didn't show them that and he didn't give them much to work with, he has the best stuff on the team and yesterday he used it to great effect, good on him, I'm happy for him.
  22. Been awhile, apologies. Most of you likely know this by now but Hendriks had another great outing in his last start vs Gwinnett back on May, 24th. He went inning for inning with Braves starter Yohan Flande, going a very strong 7, allowing 1 earned run off 5 hits with 9K's and 2 BB's. The Red Wings won 3-1. In 4 games Hendriks is now 3-0 with a 1.40 ERA, 23 K/ 8 BB in 25.2 innings pitched. Impressively he has only given up 15 hits over that period and sports a very impressive 8.2K/9 line in that short span, obviously a small sample that won't project but positive to see nonetheless. Hendriks is on the mound again tonight in Charlotte against the Knights. Good luck Liam, keep it up and we'll see you at Target Field again soon. On an unrelated note, June 2nd is George "The Animal" Steel day at Frontier Field, bring the kids.....................I love minor league baseball!!!!
  23. I'm not sure people are necessarily writing Gray off as much as they are saying that considering some of the younger, promising bullpen arms in the organization, he's a bit redundant. Gray hasn't performed terribly but if the Twins are ultimately going to move forward they need to see what they actually have in those arms and eventually Gray holds up one of those spots. Who knows, if the perception remains that he has been pretty effective maybe we can package him up in a trade with Liriano or Pavano and get a half-ass throw in prospect.
