  1. Well said, that's interesting to hear from Thome and probably the honest answer most players would give. The Kings analogy is a good one, similar to the Cards last year, there is no formula for it.
  2. Fair enough, I didn't mean that to sound like the smart guy, trick question thing. I don't seem to recall you being on the firing squad so actually answering the question on merit would be consistent.
  3. That pretty much nails it CDog,, the essence of the question was to illustrate that there is no more reason to "pop the champagne" now, than there was to line up the firing squad a month ago. It's a rhetorical question, reacting on either end of the extreme is illogical and never represents strong organizational direction. It's funny how many people assign failure with coaches and success with players and other factors though. Never a middle ground.
  4. I think he meant Kill.........I agree.
  5. I think it's Mauer, Morneau seems fine and Span has played a lot, I don't read much into him sitting last night. They need the left handed bat who can drive the ball so Parmelee gives the that. mauer will eventually be back though so I'm not sure where this is headed long-term. I agree Revere deserves to play and you can't play Parm like you play Mastro.
  6. Yes but do the "M" hats deserve the credit or do the "TC" hats deserve the blame? See it?
  7. More incredible than the fact he now actually has options to take advantage of?
  8. Amen to that, I'm glad they won last night but when I saw Casilla, Revere and Mastroianni all in the lineup I wasn't overly hopeful. Parm will at least give them some pop factor.
  9. I don't read anyone above arguing Casilla is a legit starter, a couple of guys said he has been fine defensively (which he has) but other than that I don't see anyone advocating for him to play everyday. Right now he's at least a left handed batting option while Mauer is out.
  10. When is Pavano coming off the 15 day? Wasn't Devries scheduled to start Sunday? With the off day do they go back to Liriano or give it to Manship for a spot start?
  11. It's been about a month since many members felt the need to blame somebody for the sorry state the Twins were in at the time, this despite the fact we were barely 1 month into the new season. During that time blame was mainly given to pretty much anyone and everyone who wasn't a player, including , Gardy, Terry Ryan, Joe Vavra, Rick Anderson, Bill Smith the entire Pohlad family the removal of the trees in centre field and the quality of beer served in a can. Since that time the Twins have gone 14-12 and while far from being touted as a contender have proved themselves to be a competitive and at times entertaining ball club. So, in the interest of fairness, many have assigned the blame, who now gets the credit for the teams improved play?
  12. What would make anyone think Hicks will never be a major league OF? He's 22 and it's not like he's been awful.
  13. I expect things to continue the way they have for the last month or so. If the rotation can keep it up to a similar degree the offense is proving they can get it done from a variety of players, especially once Mauer comes back. Anytime one of our starters puts in a QS I like our chances with how good our pen is.
  14. I think the best course of action is to leave Dozier where he is right now. He has shown some ability to make some adjustments at the plate but he is definitely still a work in progress. Defensively I think he'll pull it together again, sometimes players go through these things but I think he's already shown he can make the plays, it's only been 30 games. Eventually he's going to move to 2B anyway, he's keeping the SS seat warm for Florimon and will move there on a regular basis once they get rid of Casilla.
  15. I still think it's Hammer, 18 doubles, 11 jacks, slugging .576 with and OPS of .986. Perkins could work his way in though.
  16. Are pitchers ever responsible for their own performance? Do you think that is possible? Maybe, just maybe, Jose Mijares is responsible for Jose Mijares pitching better.
  17. Nice to get it done in a game we really should have got it done in, that's a good win, now let's club those Cubbies!!!
  18. Never been a fan of the M hat, I have one but it's getting long in the tooth, might have to pony up for a new one.
  19. Atta way Cappy, way to miss some bats. Twins win, Twins win!!!
  20. Ok Casilla, you're forgiven....for now.
  21. Cross everything, here come Matty!!!
  22. God damn I like Burt!!!
  23. Manship was good but Dick's right, there is something wrong with that gun.
  24. Mansihp? Are you kidding me!???
