  1. For a AAA singles hitter that sure was a nice lead off triple Revere hit tonight.
  2. And speaking of ignorance.....
  3. Fister was terrified of Willingham all afternoon, I assume Leyland was as well.
  4. Wow, I'm in the cyber company of real baseball people, ones I've never heard of but they say so. You're way to full of yourself dude, just saying.
  5. If you kids don't be quiet I'm turning this thing around right now!
  6. For sure eh, a 50, it's all good.
  7. I live on that planet as well, it doesn't make my head hurt like those other planets some people live on. Revere is fun to watch, I like fun, my 6 year old son likes fun too and he thinks Ben Revere is the best "catcher" (not backcatcher, just catcher) on the team.....that's fun.
  8. Really? That's what we're complaining about now? This season is sad.
  9. Long term, high dollar deals rarely, if ever, pay for themselves with on field performance. I've said many times that these contracts are based on past performance and are usually never repeated, especially over the length of time any of them are for. The contacts for these type of players keep fans in the seats and sometimes provide the edge to win in the short-term, which if the team does the contract will be well worth it from all of the residual benefits winning provides. Like it or not, it's the buying public that provides the motivation for these types of contracts but are the first to blame ownership when they, quite expectedly don't live up to the hype.
  10. Hendriks is 1-0 since returning to Rochester with a 1.54 ERA and a 12/4 K/BB ratio in 11.2 innings. With the latest disaster from Jason Marquis and another likely one coming from Nick Blackburn, who knows what is in store for Hendriks if he continues to pitch well.
  11. Many ways but, Santana for a bag of balls and Garza for Delmon Young and Young for another bag of balls is a good place to start.
  12. I'm not saying he should have blamed Capps, s**t happens and I'm far from a Gardy hater, I've supported him many times on this forum. I do think however he could be a little more careful with what he says, considering how the average fan is feeling about about the team and his responsibility for it. Digging your heels in and defending the way you do things when you are 10-26 isn't sending a very encouraging message to those listening, even if what you're saying is just lip service.
  13. Hockey analogies, wow! I agree with you completely, Morneau has been my favorite Twin for years (complete homer) , it's hard to watch him be a shadow of his former self and still be relatively so young. I like Mauer but Morneau always had a more "scare the crap out of you" aura about him. That 2 homer game against the Yankees earlier had me hoping he was on his way back, I'm still hopeful but I'm also realistic.
  14. Yeah, that type of comment doesn't endear Gardy to many people. I don't think it's the firing squad type offense you seem to, but I agree sounding inflexible and defiant in the face of what's happening isn't a great strategy.
  15. Marquis is a joke, everybody on this team should be embarrassed.
  16. Un-fu****g believable!!!! another double play!
  17. Ok, time to pick up Marquis, escaped a lead off triple, time for a run or two
  18. Butera changed the password.
  19. Exactly, why would anyone give up something of remote value for Inge?
  20. So does Trevor Plouffe.
  21. Just a bunch of if's and maybe's, not good. Might as well leave Plouffe there, he can't hit but at least he can walk runs in. Give him until July and see if Floriman is still playing well, either try him there or move Carroll over to 3rd and Florimon can play 2nd. I'm sure Plouffe can play 3rd given time, it's just at the plate he's in the process if having the Mendoza line renamed in his honour.
  22. Hammer deserves to go now, Mauer will likely be there come game time.
  23. Neither does bitching and moaning about it with apparently no point.
  24. What is it the you guys want the Twins to do about it? All the endless hand wringing and moaning about Joe's contract fascinates me, it's done, get over it. You guys are right, is that what you want, recognition? A gold star? I've said it before, I'll say it again, all of this bitching is in hindsight and everybody is perfect in hindsight. He's not the 1st guy to get overpaid, he's not the last. Big baseball contacts are based on past success which is rarely repeated, they are doomed from the start, it's an accepted culture.
