    This team is gaining confidence, an effort like this after getting pasted by 14 runs the night before tells a lot about the leadership in the locker room. What an effort by Walters and that play by Casilla going deep in the hole for his pitcher was beautiful....nice grab by Morneau too.

    It is.....really? I've been saying it over and over but it still doesn't come out that way, weird. Personally I don't think I can do it, there goes the anyone theory. Catcher is way harder on your body than 3rd base, no question, that's what the jyst of this is, Mauer's long term health.

    The guy was a two (almost 3) sport phenom in high school, he could have played pro football or baseball but chose baseball, to suggest an athlete of his ability would have trouble adjusting to 3rd base is ridiculous. You guys are over-analyzing this, we're talking about playing 3rd base, not building rockets.

    I thought the Twins were very sympathetic and respectful to Marquis when his daughter got hurt. Seemed to me they went out of their way to make things as easy as possible for him. If you're referring to fans, there will always be people who act as if life revolves around their divine right to have other people be responsible for their happiness.

    Mauer could easily transition to 3rd base given the athlete that he is. I do believe Valencia will get another shot with the team, although not until he deserves it, which I think he's capable of achieving. It's going to take better than the .200 he's hitting now so I don't think him being down their beyond the AS break is a big stretch.

    He's only going to sign for a contender (assuming any of them want him).

    Liriano gets the start Thursday, that will dictate what happens beyond that. I get the feeling Blackburn is a ways from returning (or the Twins wanting him to return) in which case we may see Devries or Hendriks at any rate. I'd rather it be Devries, let Hendriks keep working his groove for another month or so. Keep the bullpen the way it is, if anyone manages to keep it close they are our main hope to actually win games. I do think Slama deserves to get a shot, at this point we might as well see what he has instead of wasting time with Jeff Gray. I think the bigger question is what happens when Blackburn returns and he becomes Jason Marquis act II......what then?

    Hendriks improved to 2-0 last night in his 3rd start since arriving back in Rochester. He went 7 innings, giving up 4 hits, 2 ER, 2 SO and 2 BB as the Red Wings defeated Louisville 5-3. In 3 games he now has an ERA of 1.94 in 18.2 innings and an impressive 14 SO. Nice work Liam!

    I agree, I think we'll see Hendriks again maybe sooner than later, he's not a whole lot different than Diamond in what he can offer, he just needs to work on not leaving the ball up and not missing his spots. That and maybe a little lack of movement on his fastball were the major issues when he was up and in his defense he pitched a decent game against the Rangers when Perkins blew up. People don't seem to have much faith in him but you're right, he's 23, has the ability to SO batters and doesn't give up many free passes.

    Do you mean the Montreal Canadiens or Canadians in general? I'll assume the latter, in a word, yes, but not those French guys (oops, sorry). Open topics are, in no particular order, 110x55 yard fields (bigger is better), 12 men (the more the merrier), the Rouge (points for a good try), 3 downs (run, pass, punt instead of run, run,pass, punt), Lumberjacks, chesterfields, toques, Beavers (not that kind), the military, unequal representation in govt. , Celine Dion, Zed, Saskatchewan, washrooms, Newfies (sorry, did it again), Mr. Dressup, Smarties, Skidoos, 5 pin bowling....................pretty much anything actually. Iowa does have the Hawkeyes though and...well...being from Iowa.
