  1. It was a curious move, I did a double-take when I saw Plouffe take second (not that I was shocked or anything, I was just expecting to see Hughes). I imagine we'll mostly see Hughes when Plouffe is starting in right and occasionally spelling Casilla. I suppose there are lots of possibilities but it would cause significant shuffling of the deck.
  2. I'd say it's possible Plouffe goes to right and Doumit plays 1st but more likely we'll see the same lineup and get Plouffe in right, Mauer at 1st and Doumit catching on Sunday. I don't think Gardy will pull Parmalee's bat from the lineup twice so early, despite the pitching match-up. Hopefully we'll see Hughes coming in at some point, would be nice to see him sooner than later after the spring he had.
  3. All true, but my point is he wasn't any more responsible for the team losing than the guys who swing the bats, and I don't see many comments about the endless parade of rollers back to the mound and lazy fly balls that most of the guys served up. Sure he could have used a few more K's but he didn't get raked all over the yard and found a way to get guys out. I will concede that the O's inability to take advantage had as much to do with it. I predict the guys let it rip tomorrow and Sunday and we take the next two.
  4. I don't think 5 hits over 7 is all that bad, the home run was a mistake and made worse by the previous walk, he kept them in the game, made some good outs and took the game to the 8th, about what you'd expect. . If Doumit makes the catch that most decent outfielders make then it's conceivable it goes to extras. Not sure why Carl is getting dumped on here, the offense didn't show up until it was too late, Pavano was neither very good nor very bad, his velocity will come up a bit in a short time, it was never all that good anyway. I liked Duensing's peformance, Gray on the other hand......
  5. So Weaver, Sabathia, Holland et all won't be able to step up their games and will all end up with ERA's over 5.00? Professional athletes change their focus based on the stakes, I expect his execution to be much better once the season begins, we'll see if that's good enough. Perhaps we should have kept Nathan, his ERA is over 10.00, granted it's only over 7 innings but if I were the Rangers I wouldn't be too ecstatic about the $14 million I just spent.....not that I don't love Joe.
