  1. Morneau's salary isn't going to prevent them from making a run at a top end starter, if that's what they want to do.
  2. Clearly I'm not going to defend the pitching but you did see how this team played in the field this week didn't you? Who's bottom 3rd of the order does the one we trotted out this week replace?
  3. What manager wins with this sad sack of pitchers? (with apologies to Scott Diamond). How do you discipline a player for continually making errors when there is no one there to threaten for his job. It happened with Valencia but there is no other position where that is even a possibility, Gardy is stuck with this mess and you can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig. I understand the sentiment on this and perhaps it's time considering how much upheaval this team is likely facing in the next 3-4 years at least. At the end of the day though it's just window dressing, Gardy ain't the problem.
  4. Coomer gushed emphatically today that from a position player standpoint the Twins are every bit as good as the White Sox, Tigers and Indians, great analysis. God help us if TR shares that ridiculous notion
  5. Ok, maybe a bit sidetracked, I don't believe you can bottom this team out for 4+ years, the cost is too high. The team needs to give hope to the buying public that they can be remotely competitive in order to afford the kind of team and players everybody wants. That being said, the stable on the farm needs refilling and obtaining prospects who can move through the system faster is the only way we're going to contend again.
  6. Apparently not or we wouldn't be looking to trade him.
  7. Anything can happen in one game, in a short tournament, especially in hockey. Anyway, the US beat the Finns to win the gold. In the mid to late nineties Canada decided they would go down the picking the players who best fit the system road in international hockey and they sucked. Once they decided to just take the best players and work the system to fit them, they have been much more successful. Talent first, everything else next.
  8. The mental approach and understanding of any game is a talent, it's not voodoo.
  9. And talent will win out, let's reconvene in September.
  10. No, I didn't miss it, whichever way you do it the only way to be successful is to have enough talent. I think what's being missed is what quantifies talent.
  11. They should have let Blackie rot in Rochester and brought back Hendriks, this is f***ing insane!
  12. You mean like right over the middle of the plate? That is good scouting.
  13. Talent is all that matters, in any sport, period.
  14. For his next trick Doumit is going to take 1st base on 3 balls.
  15. Looked like the ball bounced completely the other way,
  16. Konerko's SO should be credited to the ump, not Blackie.
  17. Absolutely agree, it was poorly handled.
  18. Christ lately if he's not hitting it out he's hitting into double plays. Way to make him work Hammer.
  19. Nah, you think TR called Baker a pussy, Cdog thinks TR was just getting fed up with Baker playing softball when he kept saying he was fine and intimated if he was fine he should show it. I remember reading Tr's comments back in the spring and pretty much thinking the same thing as you. What is for certain is that it's a lot of presumptuous nonsense for anyone to think they know how Baker feels about Minnesota because of it.
