  1. ++1........deciding not to watch your team means your a non-fan.
  2. Your best post ever.
  3. You guys ever heard the phrase "Beating a dead horse"?.........you're doing it. On another note Gray was A O.K,......................looking for that silver lining.
  4. When you reach the bottom there is nowhere to go but up............this appears to be the bottom.
  5. Let's get some hits!!!
  6. Tonight in the peanut gallery...... Statler and Waldorf!
  7. No I get the point, hit/sacfrifice, whatever, let's just say, put the ball somewhere that allows the runner to score, you miss mine, no matter how much any of us wish it's going to happen every time, it's not, which you now seem to begrudgingly accept, although with a hint of petulance. Mauer has a proven track record of being a clutch hitter and I for one don't go for the Chicken Little "the sky is falling" reaction and suggest he's a major problem for the team because of a few bad outs at the wrong time, (I'm not even sure that was a bad out as much as a well pitched at bat......which also happens), that's just impulsive. I'm not attacking you, I respect your right to your opinion, I just don't agree with it, but that doesn't suggest I'm right.
  8. There have been exactly 4 left handed throwing 3rd basemen in MLB history including 1 game by Terry Francona for the Expos back in 1985. Don Mattingly was another for a couple of games. Here's the article, I don't think Parms will become the 5th anytime soon. http://www.immaculateinning.com/2008/07/left-handed-third-basemen.html Also one on the rarity of left handed catchers. http://bb_catchers.tripod.com/catchers/catchleft.htm
  9. Slightly inaccurate, people don't watch the Twins for entertainment value. A number of fans in other cities do watch baseball for that very reason.
  10. Yep Valentine pushed all the right buttons, you nailed it. [h=1]Definition of armchair quarterback[/h] [h=2]armchair quarterback[/h] a person who watches sports and believes one could do a better job than the players or coaches. You're taking this to new levels dude.
  11. I think you're taking this a bit personally. Nobody is questioning the type of fan you want to be, you're entitled to say what you think and this forum provides you with that outlet. The points are being discussed, which one's aren't? It would appear you just have an issue with some of us not agreeing with the points you're making.
  12. In an effort to keep it clean s**t happens, deal with it, I'm sure Mauer will.
  13. But he didn't, it isn't the first time and it won't be the last, like every other good hitter ever to play baseball. What, is Mauer supposed to bat 1000. with men on 3rd base? There can never be a time he doesn't get it done? I get it, you're frustrated with Mauer but get a little perspective.
  14. If there is a runner on third and Joe gets on base, would the runner not score? Does that count as an RBI or does it just inflate his OBP? I'm not going to call you names like some other posters have sunk to but I do think your argument is a little weak, not to mention mildly confident in that you question the hitting approach of one of the best hitters in baseball over the last 5 or 6 years. Mauer is a leader on this team, I don't know for sure but I get the impression his teammates feel pretty good about having Joe hit 3rd. He's as mentally strong as any player on that team, as evidenced by his consistent excellence. I'm not sure anyone on the Twins performs as well in that situation as Mauer. It's pretty presumptuous to think so, he's hit well from that spot before. The season is still so young, it's not even May for crying out loud!! I say right here it gets considerably better in the coming weeks.
  15. You say Potato I say Potato...................semantics, we're a mid-market team.
  16. Liam Hendriks RHP, No.20, Minnesota Twins Born- February 10, 1989 (age 23), Perth Australia Signed as an Amateur Free Agent by Minnesota in 2007 Twins 2011 Minor League Pitcher of the Year 2011 Minors- 12-6 in 25 starts, 3.36 ERA, 1.134 WHIP, 111 K's, 21 BB's, 5.28:1 K/BB. 2011 MLB Stats- 0-2 in 4 starts, 6.17 ERA, 1.500 WHIP, 16K's, 6 BB's, 2.66:1 K/BB. Started with the big club after Jason Marquis was unable to start the season, likely headed to Rochester but now looks to stay with the Twins after the surgery to Scott Baker. Had a strong Spring Training and was going to be the first available call-up had he started in Rochester. A four pitch guy with good control, not a lot of heat on the fastball but has an excellent change-up and throws 2 good breaking balls with his slider and curveball. Shown the ability to strike guys out with a good mix of pitches, good location and change of speeds. So far this year, was very unlucky to miss 1st start with a bout of food poisoning. Went 6 strong against the Rangers, leaving with 1 run on 7 hits and 4 K's to 0 BB's. Was in line for his 1st win until bullpen coughed up 3-1 lead.. Had a decent outing against the Rays going 5.2 innings, giving up 4 runs on 5 hits with 1 K and 2 BB. Hendriks looks to be sticking with the Twins for now and could be key to providing some much needed depth. If he can continue to keep command of his pitches and stay ahead of batters he could have a solid year and be in line for his 1st win soon. Next start is this Wednesday, April, 25 vs Boston, matching up against Clay Buchholz. Good luck Liam!
  17. I second the motion, all in favour say "I".
  18. Thrylos is still trying to figure out the answer to his own question.
  19. No, they just weren't as good as the team who beat them. A team that wins 94 games doesn't all of a sudden get complacent, they just got beat. You overestimate the influence the manager has on the game in the playoffs, Gardy was a good enough manager to win 94 games that year, tell me what changed come playoff time? What did he do wrong? Nothing in my mind, the players just didn't get it done, it happens.
  20. That's for sure, it can't get any worse, however I will agree that Liriano gets 1 more start.
  21. +1...........Jack, the Yankees were just better. Joe Torre did not win the games, his players did, all he needed to do was put the right ones out there and get out of their way. Gardy did exactly the same thing, they just didn't win. The problem is the cupboards have been getting bare for the last few years and getting nothing for guys like Santana and Garza didn't help, that lies with Bill Smith. For all the fire Gardy crew out there, what specifically should he have done last year and for the start of this year that would have resulted in more wins?
  22. It's called the bandwagon Cdog and right now it's jump off time for the minions who need someone to blame.
  23. 10 hits and 3 runs in the last 18 innings....which team are seeing compete right now.
