1. My plan would be to sign at least 3 pitchers not named Pavano, Blackburn or Walters.
2. How is bringing Baker back at the right price not a good idea? So he's had some health issues, so have lots of guys.
3. No, I read it, if that's the best you've got, I think you need to keep looking.
4. 0.69 ERA and a 9.5 K/BB ratio in 13 innings so far, baby steps for sure but not too shabby.
5. Here's last years crop, 31 available starting pitchers average age (throwing out Wakefield) 31.87, aces? Some might debate Wilson, I won't. This year, 16 available, average age, 32.18, aces? Grienke appears debatable, he's closer than Wilson in my mind. With the greatest over-riding factor being every team needs and wants better starting pitching, this is a pretty thin list by comparison. Trades are definitely going to be the order of the day, especially considering the guy we ended up with from last year's, "deeper" list, was Jason Marquis!
Erik Bedard 32 Andrew Brackman 26 Mark Buehrle 32 Chris Capuano 33 Bruce Chen 34 Bartolo Colon 38 Aaron Cook 32 Yu Darvish 25 Jeff Francis 30 Freddy Garcia 35 Jon Garland 32 Aaron Harang 33 Rich Harden 29 Livan Hernandez 36 Hisashi Iwakuma 30 Edwin Jackson 28 Hiroki Kuroda 36 Rodrigo Lopez 35 Paul Maholm 29 Jason Marquis 33 Kevin Millwood 36 Roy Oswalt 34 Micah Owings 29 Brad Penny 33 Joel Pineiro 33 Jo-Jo Reyes 27 Joe Saunders 30 Javier Vazquez 35 Tsuyoshi Wada 30 Tim Wakefield 45 Chien-Ming Wang 31 Brandon Webb 32 Dontrelle Willis 29 C.J. Wilson 30 Chris Young
6. Hi, I'm the Internet. I'm a dick who knows everything, never makes a mistake, and remains safely anonymous so you'll never know otherwise. More commonly known as a Twins Daily member.
7. I'm sorry, but why would Twins Daily crew be researching, generating unique content, editing, and publishing a e-book...then giving it away...for free. Last time I checked, we lived in America. I don't, but we still buy and sell e-books, despite being socialists.
8. Not exactly a whole lot of 30 year old managers in baseball..... It's an interesting statement though, what do you consider "younger"? MLB has the highest average age of the "big four" leagues but currently has 9 managers under the age of 50 with 2 vacancies. The National league doubles the American by a 6-3 margin among those managers. Matheny is the youngest at 42 and despite the disaster which culminated tonight, has done pretty well. So have Davey Johnson and Jim Leyland on the other hand, the former being the leagues oldest manager and Leyland 2nd (along with Charlie Manuel). Does age really have anything to do with it?
9. People! We don't need to quote the entire thread every time you respond....Sheesh!
10. Can only hope that's the case.......next.
11. I'll take lead by example for $1000 Alex Mauer- .319/.416/.861, all just off his career average, a year after missing 80 games. Grienke- 8K/9, 3.51 K/BB ratio, career. I'll take that over some guy throwing cliches at me about how we have to "win one for the Gipper" and doing jumping jacks. Am I to infer that if Mauer were to say "We gotta win for Gardy", would not suffice to motivate all and turn things around? I much prefer Ugueth Urbina's "Win one or I'll ****ing kill you." That is a classic, you're right much better. I'm not sure it would have the same level of crazy, scary coming from Mauer.

14. Here's some irony, for all the talk of being thoughtful, considerate, insightful, articulate, etc...none of this qualifies as any of those things. Back to baseball, Game 7! Cards- Giants, man Vogelsong was lights out last night! Would dearly love to see a Twins pitcher turn in that kind of performance someday soon.
15. A 29 year old MI who isn't anywhere near a significant enough upgrade from what we already have, what is this discussion about, organizational depth? No thanks. By the way, as far as Escobar being some raving homophobe, here is an interesting article from an entirely outside of baseball perspective. It is one of very cultural relevance however. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/commentary/yunel-escobars-slur-didnt-come-from-left-field/article4582951/
16. What do you envision happening with Scott Baker? Under what circumstances do you see him staying with the Twins assuming this is something the club wants?
17. Potentially signing Liriano is now considered moving forward? What is the upside to this again? The snowball's chance in hell he even comes close to what he did in pre-injury '06?
18. The talent level on the team always has more to do with it than the managers, win or lose.
19. 8K's in 5IP vs 1W...impressive, I'll get behind that.
20. Thanks to this site and everyone on it for making even this Twins season bearable.
21. 4 things, The euphemism is "silver spoon", not "golden spoon". It's expendable, not expandable. i before e except after c. How much was that shirt?
22. 365 days? Some of these guys were talking about it after 6 months....or less, very reasonable.
23. Half full, as long as the pitching is there and the middle infield isn't a train wreck, is it any more complicated than that?
