  1. And.......we're done with Doumit in LF, yes?....Good Lord!
  2. Maybe they just aren't all that fundamentally sound, the manager is only as good as his players, at the Major League level if your fundamentals are not already sound then I don't care who your manager is. This club needs more depth, there is nobody pushing the players in front of them at a number of positions and it shows. Nothing like a trip back down to AAA to remember to focus on your fundamentals, Brian Dozier anyone? And he got pushed by Pedro Florimon, sheesh, now what?
  3. I prefer Florimon defensively, I think over a larger sample his stats would be superior in the field, he certainly looks more comfortable than Dozier. I can see Dozier playing 2B but it's going to on the strength of his bat, his defense will likely end up being adequate but he'll never be able to stay up with the team as a + defender.
  4. Are those rhetorical questions? If not, then I think the Twins have done the little things right during many years of Gardy's tenure, a number of players have got consistently better and his strategy was fine when they were winning. The big difference in all these instances is the players, you come up with a strategy with Nick f***ing Blackburn on the mound.
  5. And bad teams get better by sheding expensive players when they have a MLB ready kid in the farm system who makes nothing ready to roll. None of us know what JR's strategy is, but it doesn't matter what he wants...the Twins won't compete for atleast a few years. The bottom line is the Twins are one of the worst teams in the league and JR ain't going out to sign Greinke &Jackson to get this team right. Sit back and actually look at this team, cause it's a very very bad baseball team. As for injuries, I know you're not trying to compare Parm's injury history to Morneau. The Twins are one of the worst teams in baseball but Greinke and Jackson are going to make it right? It's laughable that you contend the team is so very, very bad yet suggest this is what it takes to set it right.
  6. That's incorrect. ESPN published the results, but the information was gathered and interpreted by two independent firms and a university. Well I stand corrected, except the who gives a crap part.
  7. What he said. I can't quite believe this but I'm in with Chief on this one as well.Check out? No, can't.
  8. The inherent flaw in this is ESPN did it, who gives a crap.
  9. I have my doubts that he can count very high, sorry.
  10. Satisfied? Was there some point to this post? Are you satisfied that the Twins are truly worried about Diamonds innings after they followed your wisdom? Just curious.
  11. Satisfied? More importantly, are you? Well if it's important to you, sure.
  12. Nothing like cleaning your filthy Sox!!!! Looks like the White Sox pitching staff worked wonders with Humber, damn Rick Anderson!!
  13. Feast or famine with this team.
  14. This is just the kind of slap hitting we've been looking for lately.
  15. Nice hit by Slappy Escobar
  16. Again, I do not care what policies Europe, Canada, or anyone else has regarding identification. They're not a standard I wish to hold my country to in the "freedom" department in most cases. Perhaps you should raise your standards.
  17. Nobody has any comments? Dead horse
  18. Try hitting it anywhere but dead away center. Worked for Plouffe.
  19. That would have just put a bullseye on our next batter, the nonsense has to end sometime. Diamond made his point, crock of s**t he was ejected!
  20. Birdman - I agree with you that it would make sense to bring in a couple Free Agent guys to hold down two spots. Your guess is as good as mine, but I think they'll go for one higher quality guy vs. two Marquis types. Certainly a trade for a SP is a possibility and a great idea if we get equal or better value. I think they'll try a Rule V guy next year as well. Had Terry Doyle not had a terrible spring for us, he might be our #2 guy right now - lol. He's having a great year in AAA. I'm predicting moves like that vs. trades for big names. But it's just my opinion/guess. None of us knows what will actuall happen. Baker/Pavano/Blackburn might be in the picture too - but I personally don't think so. Baker, sure, but the other two?.......................FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, NOOOOOO!!!!!!
  21. I'm probably bullish on Diamond and Gibson going forward, but of the list you provided we have two of the four coming off of major surgery, another pitching way beyond career norms and probably due for regression next year, and a guy we're hoping becomes a quality back-end guy. Nick has been one of the vocal optimists about 2013, I just don't understand how anyone can look at this list - even if we add two starters in the offseason. I don't think it's insane to believe that adding 2 proven starters and relying on Diamond, Gibson, Hendriks and maybe Baker could get this team a lot of quality starts and chances to win games. As long as the Twins medical staff aren't the ones performing the surgery on Gibson and Baker, it's reasonable to expect recovery, Brett Anderson sure seemed fine the other night.
  22. Nice article Seth, guys like this are the epitome of the term "chasing the dream". Playing for peanuts and bouncing from small town to small town, living out of a gym bag, just in the hopes someone notices and gives them a shot. One of my favorite independent success stories in recent memory was Jeff Zimmerman of the Texas Rangers. He played for the Goldeyes in 1997 and dominated the league, enough for the Rangers to sign him as a free agent in 1998. Over the next three years he became one if their best arms, culminating in an All Star game appearance in 1999. Unfortunately injuries derailed his career but his story is still one that gives all of these types of players the hope to keep playing.
  23. You're right but I don't think most people here do. At best it's sane to believe Diamond can continue to be consistent , Hendriks should be able to get his s**t together enough to be reliable and Gibson has the tools to be a regular contributor, maybe not until June. I say we still have a shot at Baker on a short term deal after we turn down his option and acquire a couple of experienced starters through free agency and/or trade.
