  1. I'd have to agree, the Gophers didn't just beat Iowa last year, the beat the mother loving hell out of them, then walked away with Floyd and their girlfriends.
  2. I'd love to stay out of the Hicks thread, but it's a minefield so I can't. I like pickles, what's a hot dog without pickles? I think I could eat spicy guacamole almost as much as pizza. Beer and spicy guacamole are the food marriage made in heaven.
  3. I like Indian pudding, it's usually the final touch on having to loosen my belt a notch or two after the Indian buffet.
  4. Well,in that case......
  5. Claeys provides continuity for the current athletes plus the recruits for the highly regarded 2016 class. He's also a safe choice for a school lacking an AD at the moment, which is why the 3 year deal makes sense. I like Claeys, I think he's done a fine job and deserves a shot. As fantastic as he is with the D, I like how he handles the offense, even more than Kill. I think they'll beat Iowa, that will get him knighted, beat Bucky and he gains Sainthood........and an extension.
  6. You're kidding right? How about higher each year he's been here. It's Minnesota, he's not a miracle worker, sorry but it's going to take longer than 5 years to compete with the likes of OSU, Michigan, Bucky etc. Kill's biggest achievement has been doing a much better job at attracting and keeping in State talent, something other regimes mistakenly overlooked. It's made them better. Btw, the 2016 class is currently ranked in the top 25 by Rivals and 247.
  7. He didn't say you did. I think it might help if you were less defensive, I really do. If you feel there is bias, that's your prerogative, I honestly don't think it's our job to convince you otherwise but I find your opinion unfortunate. I honestly don't care if people take shots at Ryan as long as it remains respectful, I'm completely indifferent towards the man, he's not as bad as some people portray and he's not as good as others portray, I have no stake in the matter. What I do care about is when members here are personally attacked for their views or trolled for something they may have posted. I do think some people have a higher sensitivity towards that type of thing though, whether they be supporters or detractors. There is certainly an element of " can dish it out but refuse to take it" that occurs. We try our best, I think we have a good idea of the line and there is enough of us to come to a fair decision on things, although not everybody will always agree with it, that's just the way it goes. I hear what you're saying, I just can't apply it to how I think or what I know of my fellow moderators. Thanks
  8. I didn't say he lacked trade value, I said his value was as high as I felt it could potentially get and that moving an eventual 4th OF for young catching help now is not such a bad move. I think you overestimate Hicks, it's as simple as that. And you edited that post? Whew!
  9. You're dead to me.....
  10. Your wife calls you Vanimal? That's...uh....interesting. Anyhoo, reason for my call, Terry Ryan threads, when are we going to get enough of them Van? As a guy who is constantly working on keeping the material for his show fresh and relevant, maybe you have some suggestions for the keep repeating myself until someone listens crowd. Also, what are your thoughts on circular logic?
  11. No buts but you started this sentence with a but............disqualified. I'm not saying Murphy is the man, in fact all I've said about him is he's a catcher and he's 24, but I don't think Hicks is the man either. All I'm really hearing is if, if, if.......ya ya, if he ever becomes a legitimate full time CF or if he ever becomes a useful platoon corner OF, or if he ever becomes a 3 time all star, the Twins will have lost the trade badly...............colour me skeptical, that's all. All I really see is the Twins traded a guy from a position they think they can improve upon for help at a position that is more difficult to do that with.
  12. This looks delicious in it's own right, but I'm not sure it would hit the pizza spot in me.
  13. Bacon, shrimp, anchovy and olive pizza.........................served with a keg of beer to clear out the salt!
  14. Mid-20's......................cry me a river. If I was in my mid-20's again, I'd be eating pizza everyday.
  15. Meh, that doesn't mean much to me actually. He's not going to win them all.
  16. That's probably one of the higher bar vesting options out there next season. With so few actually vesting across the leafue in recent years, I'd be pretty surprised if this one did
  17. You expected him to say something different? I'd expect him to say exactly that after just acquiring him.
  18. We have evidence Suzuki will play 130 games? I think the Twins genuinely want to reduce that number, or this wouldn't have happened.
  19. Big "if" Dave, that's all.
  20. I think the most relevant word in this post is "assumes", because it assumes a lot, especially about Hicks
  21. They needed a catcher, Hicks's value was as high as it's been and odds are as high as its going to get. So they traded a future 4th OF for something they think can help them more now. Feel free to believe Hicks was worth more of a ransom and possibly more down the road, but don't be shocked that others don't.
  22. I'm not even sure what this thread is about, trading one mediocre player for another mediocre player and therefore reinforcing their mediocrity? Or not trading a mediocre player for a star player and therefore turning water into wine? Why do I care if Hicks ends up posting a higher WAR than Murphy if he provides decent play at catcher and whoever replaces Hicks in the outfield ends up with a higher WAR than Hicks?
  23. Tomorrow is actually specific Pizza Day? It's not just Pizza Day? That would be my favourite day, I love pizza more than any other single food, I could eat pizza everyday, but just like beer, it needs to be good pizza. Fortunately that's not hard to find, usually. Don't go messing with PB&J.....k?
