  1. Not only good for the Twins, but shows a lot of character in Buxton. I'm sure he could have gotten more on the market, but although I'm a Vikings fan, I always respected that Tom Brady took lower contracts to ensure there was money left for the Patriots to sign players around him, Yes, baseball doesn't have a salary cap, but we all know there are realistic limits that each team will spend. Buxton left space for the team to build a winner. And if Buxton gets the serious payday from the bonuses, it means that not only was he healthy, but likely that we're winning, too.
  2. Personally, I really like the shirts. I wonder if they would look better with grey road pants or maybe even the white home pants?
  3. Personally, I don't like the idea of using Garver as a DH unless Astudillo is also on the roster. Instead, on those days you may want to play both Garver and Jeffers or Sano as DH, I would put one at first base and let Sano hit. If the catcher goes down, we have a lot more options to sub at first (Kirillof, Rooker, Kepler, Arraez; assuming Kirilllof and Rooker both make the roster).
  4. I remember how harsh they were on Buxton, including suspending him for celebrating a home run once. I thought at the time that they were going to drive him to resent the team. Sometimes, they almost seemed to penalize good hitters. I also remember one of the pitchers talking about how he was fined for having his glove on the wrong side of the locker while he was in Rochester. Having said that, I really appreciated what TR did for us in his first run. He is a personable guy with a real eye for potential. It became very clear, unfortunately, that he was unable to adapt to the Twins becoming a mid-market team once Target Field opened and that we simply weren't going to get there with him. I hope things are well with him in his current job.
