  1. Twins should have gone to gain top-end pitching last season when there was more need. That could have been done by trading off replaceable players. This season, it doesn't make sense, especially trading off needed players, which makes us much weaker.
  2. There are a few options, I wouldn't mind any of them even Gasper.
  3. BOS fans like Casas, but IMO he's overrated & at the same time Miranda is underrated & needs time at 1B. Get someone who can support him not take over. Keep Ryan, Ober & Miranda, we'd be a better team.
  4. Not what I hoped for but it's an improvement. As long as they don't do anything stupid I'm fine.
  5. I did answer your question, but not the way you wanted. If you want to protect a player who is physically susceptible, you put him on 1B, that is common sense. Now, when Keaschal comes back from his surgery, do you think they'll put him in RF or 3B even though normally he can play there? No, they'll play him at 1B, because they want him to recover properly. That is common sense, what proof do I need? If Falvey tells you to put your hand over a burner and I tell you don't, you'll burn yourself. You say where's the proof? You put your hand over the burner & you burn yourself. I say I told you, so. You say where's your proof? You shouldn't need proof you need common sense.
  6. Cavaco is a good example, he ended up at 1B & was later released. I admit that they have started to veer away from the bat & no-glove type the last couple of years. But that's no reason to excuse them from ignoring catchers in the draft & failing to use prospects to trade for them, which is the main point of my text, even though I didn't mention catching specifically.
  7. You left out my exclusion of no-brainers: Lewis, Lee & Jenkins. Let me rephrase that to bat 1st players. That'd include Rooker, Larnach, Cavaco, Wallner & Sabato, that's not including 2nd round or foreign draft. Where they were drafted doesn't mean that's where they'll stick. Sano was drafted as a SS.
  8. When you want to protect someone's arm, what level does it matter? The only difference is that Falvey made the decision to go with Santana at 1B & yet wanted Miranda & Kiriloff's bat in the line-up, so he did what he does so often, overlook Miranda & Kiriloff susceptibility & hope nothing would happen. Why are you protecting Falvey? Everyone knew that Paddack's arm was ready fall off but Falvey traded for him. Mahle was having arm problems but he overlooked them when he signed him. He does them hoping.
  9. You have no idea what you're talking about. Where is your stupid proof, I just use common sense. When Keaschal had a poor arm did they put in RF or 3B? No they put him at 1B. I said I was concerned about Lee's back, & I didn't mean that he was on his own when I said he needed to manage his chronic back problems.
  10. Twins had a pretty good team in '23. In '24 we still have pretty much the same team, especially on paper. Last year we were projected to win the AL Central, afterward, they made some changes but still looks good on paper but the difference is in the intangible of chemistry & unity. '25 we are projected to win the AL Central, we still look good on paper, but what'll boil down to is how much chemistry, leadership & unity from the core are maintained & health.
  11. I guess we have to agree on most but disagree on the rest. Unlike you, I look at underlying conditions & how the players respond to them. Which I deem very important & that's how I formed my groupings. I hope if we increase Jeffers's playing time to 2/3 & expect him to perform the same as when he's backup. But hope doesn't cut it. Click on his name, his 5yr. career proves out that when in a supporting role '20 & '23 he performs well. When given a slight advantage in innings '21 & '24 he starts off well but flounders in the 2nd half, And when he's given primary catching duties '22, he quickly craters & lands on the IL. If you dismiss the underlying conditions you miss the boat. Stats don't tell you everything. Looking at stats only you think oh, he's in a slump. When Polanco started not to hit in '22, Miranda & Kirloff in '24, I knew they were playing hurt. I agree that Lee's problem could go beyond his back injury. That's why I suggested in a different thread that if Lee doesn't prove himself during spring training. He'd need more time in AAA. Again I deem recognizing underlying conditions & how the team & players'll deal with them the most important to gauge how players'll perform.
  12. In-house subs- Martin, Keirsey, Helman, Keaschal & Eeles, All deserve to serve as quality depth & a chance to show what have. New fringe acquirees, Gasper & Ford- They are break glass options. Cartaya's progress since upper minors has been slow, you can't just flip a switch & recapture his low minors success. His progress will remain slow going into MLB. Not a factor in '25. I'd rather Twins develop their own MLB catching but Vazquez is all we have. He'll give us the most defensive innings. After his adapting to a new team & pitching staff, his hitting is trending the right way. Hopefully '25 his hitting will resemble more like what he did in BOS.
  13. Adjusting to the league's adjustment to Twin's hitting approach. Larnach has done it, and Wallner has kind of but still needs to cut down on his SO's. It's not Julien rediscovering his edge because the league has taken away that edge. It's a matter of reinventing himself & adapting. I have my doubts that he can & if he does it'd be w/o his past edge. I put Camargo & Severino in the same boat who have had past success in AAA but now have dipped. My hope is Emma can continue to hit in the upper MiLB & make the necessary adjustments to contribute to MLB club,
  14. Speaking about 1B, Lewis could benefit from having time at 1B, where he could be still wrestling with soft-tissue issues & keep him on the field more. Lewis 2nd half "slump" was due to running out of gas. Hopefully this year he'll find more gas. I predict Castro will have a better year. Castro was depended upon too much to play CF & SS overextending him there over the entire season overspent him where his production dropped off. Having Keirsey to sub Buck in CF & hopefully Correa & Lee will play more often at SS, taking the burden off of Castro. Jeffers is a great hitter, especially for a hitter. But catching beyond weak-side tandem is too much for Jeffers where his production on both sides of the plate takes a beating. Dial Jeffers back to weak-side tandem & his #s will be better.
  15. Large subject matter so I'll break it up in sections. 1st injury-plagued players. IMO Buxton & Correa are getting over the hump. Miranda's problem isn't mechanical, he can really hit. The problem was how they managed his health. Instead of keeping him at 1B/ DH where he could recover 100% from his shoulder injury & stay on the field & mash. They put him at 3B where he really had to work his shoulder, overcompensating he hurt his back thus the decline in production. Hopefully, the Twins wake up & avoid this unnecessary mishap by keeping him at 1B/ DH. Lee's interview mentioned that his back problem is chronic & that he'll have to live with the pain. This concerns me. My hope is that he can manage it because we really depend on him.
  16. Gasper was not projected to have any playing time for catching hungry BOS. At this time he's a AAAA player & break glass option at 1B. But leave it up to Falvey to try to qualify this transaction by giving Gasper every opportunity to prove himself on the MLB level while short-changing our more qualified inhouse players. Much what happened with Margot.
  17. Payton Eeles, has good character & I'm following & cheering for him to have a chance to contribute to the Twins on the MLB level.
  18. Bill Amick probably won't stick at 3B, but they'll stay with him there for as long as they can. He should make MLB as a 1Bman.
  19. I was surprised to see Salas in AAA. Salas hasn't worked out SS. Sala has been moved all around the field. IMO Salas has catching in his DNA & is heavily influenced there. We are deep at 2B but have a need at catching & I have mentioned this before, Salas is worth a shot there.
  20. That has been their slogan. But unless their 1st round picks have been no-brainers like Lewis, Lee & Jenkins, their best player evaluations have been unathletic big college bats. Thus plugging the system with 1B/ DH types. Twins tend not to trade their prospects which does not fill the holes to qualify this statement. Many of these draft selections have not worked out so instead of having a high surplus at 1B/DH to trade from we now have a hole.
  21. Twins had for a long time steered far away from drafting high on pitchers, especially HS. Let others develop pitchers & we'd trade bats for pitchers. But now MN seems confident in their development of their young pitchers. Wisely focus on taking them slowly, keeping them healthy & on the field so they maintain their development. Now drafting higher will revolutionize their pitching & off the old unathletic, big bat focus. Now they need to focus on drafting college catchers higher.
  22. I don't think trading trading Santana was prudent. If they couldn't extend him (which was a shame), IMO it'd have been better to keep Santana for that extra year. Then offer him a QO, and if he accepts great if not we get an extra nice draft selection.
  23. I'm also a staunch believer in long relief. Too many times as far as I can remember, one of the biggest if not the biggest problem is the BP burning out which in turn burns out the rotation going into the home stretch & into the postseason. Last season Baldelli said he wanted to implement long relief. But his idea of long relief is extending RPs like Alcala from 1 to 2 innings. That's not my idea of long relief. My idea is going 3-4 innings to really help the pen. IMO Castellano will fit into this category as a mop-up guy. I'm not sure if Castellano would develop into anything more than that (I don't want to put that kind of pressure on him, which hasn't worked out in the past), so I'd like a bonafide long RP that can go in with games on the line to save the BP.
  24. Julien gave Santana plenty of opportunities to make plays covering for him, yet it made me sick to see too many GBs getting by Santana on the 1B side because he was playing out of place. Keep Julien off of 2B, actually trade him while his value is up because I have doubts about him adjusting & if he does I doubt he'd profile at 1B. Put Lewis at 1B. People told me at TD that 2B is hard on your knees, I didn't believe it. Polanco turned down an offer from HOU because they wanted him to play 2B. He wants to get off 2B. So IMO 1B is a better option for Lewis, at least for the time being. 1B- Miranda, Lewis 2B- Lee, Martin, Castro 3B- Lewis, Lee, Castro SS- Correa, Lee, Castro DH- Larnach, Miranda LF- Castro, Keirsey, Martin CF- Buxton, Keirsey, Castro, RF- Wallner, Larnach, Castro C- Vazquez, Jeffers, ? If we still have Julien he's down in AAA, If Lee's bat doesn't look good in spring training he starts at AAA. Miranda kept at 1B/ DH will keep him healthy & productive.
  25. I agree with Julien & Gasper, They'll end up playing far too much. but not the rest. Gasper was projected 0 zero playing time w/ BOS this season. But because he's Falvey's new acquisition, he's on Nick's active roster. It doesn't matter if they're good or not they'll get every opportunity to play. That's what I'm talking about. & that's what I like to avoid.
