Usually what I see & my gut feeling are pretty true. But 2 or 3 years down the road, When Berrios becomes a FA & Graterol have time to stretch out & develop & we`ll see where Maeda is or even after this year, we`ll see if Wes can develop Maeda into a true starter. If I`m a little wrong I`ll admit. My assumption (not based on anything just my opinion) about Donaldson signing w/ the Braves was wrong & I admitted it. I`m a passionate Twins fan, I won`t agree w/ everything that FO does, when I don`t I`ll give my side hoping that FO get a different perspective in what they are doing. By the way I`m not against the Maeda trade, I`m against trading a precious top 100 ML ready pitching prospect for him. We have abundance of positional players possibilities we need to use but didn`t. Maeda used as LA did, limiting his innings SP/RP, he`ll be a great asset

I`m sure LA & Boston is very happy, way to go FO! Boston saved $ on payrole & doesn`t have to pay luxury tax, w/ the $ they saved maybe they get Betts next year when he`s FA. LA has a chance to win maybe this year WS & they don`t have to deal w/ Maeda case. But hey we got Maeda & maybe Wes can work his magic & turn him into Johan Santana to help compensate for what we had to give up. If he can`t & Maeda remains a terrible 3x the order pitcher we can turn around & trade him for a top 100 ML ready fireballer & 2 other prospect. What are we going to w/ our logjam of OF prospects, that needed to be addressed 1st. I feel sorry how Gaterol was treated. put into BP because we couldn`t waste any of his pitching in the minors. Now put him thru hell because he didn`t fit in the plans & let him go (like Ortiz) & then put him in limbo (FO should have pulled the plug right away & stuck to their guns) Via con Dios mi amigo, sad to see you go, we`ll miss you & wish you well. The way thing are going Berrios will be right behind you Sorry to let off steam but I needed to get this off my chest. I`ll say no more. Only to say I told you so later

Minnesota Twins: Don't take the Red Sox "sucka" deal
Doctor Gast commented on billyp4444's blog entry in Ports on Sports Blog
The Twins are the good guys helping these big market big spenders out of their problems. We don`t need this trade! We can do better else where w/o wasting a high ML ready pitching prospect. We won`t regret walking away now! If we continue this limbo is not healthy for this team & we`ll regret it! Please FO do us proud! -
Dodgers didn`t give Maeda extra innings not because they wanted to save $, it`s because 3x aroung the batting order Maeda is terrible. LA figures if we are stupid enough to think Maeda is good enough for extra innings they don`t have to deal w/ his grievance. They should settle for much less so they don`t have to deal w/ that, actually I wouldn`t want the Twins to have to deal w/ that
-
Boston wants at least a top 100 starting pitcher prospect stud which Gaterol is, only he`s not ready in the beginning of the season & not good for much over 100 because MN want to use him right away as a reliever doesn`t change that. I don`t think Maeda is worth Graterol straight up much less w/ a 15-20 prospect. If people that think Maeda is the next Johan Santana they could trade w/ LA directly if they open for an OF prospect not thru Boston
-
This problem is not ours! It`s Boston`s & LA`s. We made a more than fair deal w/LA if Boston doesn`t like the deal that LA gave for Betts & Price, fine it`s not our responsiblty. FO quit wavering & put this team in limbo, complete our respect

Another Year of Intangibles
Doctor Gast replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I`m excited to see this special chemistry come to fruition. This chemistry will drive each player to improve even greater. Some say that there`ll be a big drop off in productivity but I don`t see it. Yes the ball won`t be as lively & some might have a slight pull back but overall we`ll see improvement especially defensively. Rosario is committed in this area & I imagine Arraez, Polanco & Sano are too. We have many valuable players & some impact players. Many throw out "impact" very loosely. Buxton is an impact player, when he`s on the field something happens, it`s exciting to see & he inspire others. But others are more valuable because they are more able to produce over the season. Hopefully Buxton will be healthier. I also see Graterol as an impact pitcher but because of his condition he`s not as valuable as others. When he does pitch it`ll be exciting & in the future he`ll be more valuable especially w/ Berrios mentoring (hopefully this tie will keep Berrios aTwin as Cruz was attracted to Sano. Together w/Baldelli`s coaching staff & the FO, I look for great things! GO TWINS!!!!! -
Graterol has gone thru a lot, he`s been in limbo long enough. Finalize this. I see Maeda like Perez, a pitcher who wants to be a starter but don`t have the stuff to go 7+ innings for very long. Records show that Maeda after 3x around his efficiency drops off tremendously if Perez was on limited innings his results would be better than Maeda. Don`t get me wrong, I like Perez but I don`t think anyone would trade Perez for Graterol. Also it looks like LA maybe was trying to pond off Verdugo (w/ that abusement charge)
-
I hope you`re not talking about my text. This like any other trade deal. If I sell you a car & give super sweet deal to help you out & you hold up your nose & you say no way bad deal , not good enough & I know you have the $. If I walk away I`m not stiffing you
-
They are most definitely shopping around but no one is going to give Boston a ML ready top 100 pitching prospect for Maeda they are dreaming. Actually Graterol is too good for them. Hope it turns around & bite them. I`m glad our FO isn`t listening to them (I hope that`s true). Boston`ll wake up & think this a pretty good deal but we pull the plug now & let them pay for their sins. They are big market able to throw their $ around let them have Betts 1 more year, eat Price`s salary & pay their luxury tax Bring Graterol home so he can get ready physically. mentally & emotionally for this season Baldelli put your arms around him & tell him we`re glad to have you back!!!!!
-
The longer it drags out more complicated it becomes w/ arbitration & ST. The problem still exist as from the beginning. Boston wants too much & LA doesn`t want to give it to them. W/o MN to bail them out, it`s not going anywhere. MN should`ve gotten involved w/ this mess to begin with. There`s nothing wrong w/ Graterol`s arm except it need to be stretched out w/ time. His medical statis is clean & shouldn`t be a excuse for Boston to back out on the deal. It`s a black mark on their name. In all practicality they got the best part of the deal the way it stands
-
The thing is that LA doesn`t want to give up a top 100 pitching prospect & they want to dump Maeda (smart). Boston doesn`t want Maeda (smart). Boston likes Graterol , LA could get him on the cheap to trade to Boston. Boston got the best part of the deal overall but their fans made a fuss. I know, I made a fuss when the Twins use to deal a great player for a couple prospect, I couldn`t fathom the value of prospects. But now I do, Boston got the best of the deal & now they want more, excuse me! Boston wants a top 100 pitching prospect (ridiculous) maybe LA will they`ll find someone to trade Maeda to a team for a top 100 (I doubt it) maybe they`ll compromise & send them 1 close to the top 100. If they both want it bad enough it`ll happen. Boston has the most to lose

Why all the questions about Twins pitching?
Doctor Gast commented on Supfin99's blog entry in Supfin99's Blog
Just to remind everyone; last year, Gibson had just gotten over e coli & battled colitis the rest of the year & Perez was not considered as a pure starter but more of a reliever who wanted to start. But yet both pitched several more innings than healthy pure starter Odorizzi. They both pitched phenomenally until they ran out of gas. If they were limited innings like Maeda, their stats would be much better than his. Records show that Maeda`s efficiency drops off drastically w/ batters 3rd time around. I`m tired of Gibson & Perez bashing. Sorry, I was more optimistic w/ last year`s non contending rotation than this year`s contending -

Twins Trade Suggests More Pieces to Move
Doctor Gast replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Yes, we`re jammed packed w/ OF & 1B prospects; yes, we still have needs in our starting rotation but where are the vacants. They are jammed w/ veteran & rookies hopefuls? Sorry, but I was more optimistic w/ last year`s non contending starting rotation than this year`s contending -
W/ Donaldson`s negotiations, I thought he`d stay in Atlanta. I don`t know how close Atlanta`s offer was but he chose MN. because they offered the closest to what he thought he was worth. My observation is repeat all-stars tend to be proud & get their self worth from how much $ they are offered. It`s not so much about the $ but the affirmation of their worth thru $. Like Berrios case it`s not about the $,I think it shows he`s not happy here, if he was he would have accepted what they offered & signed an extension
-
Berrios is a type of person who takes pride in what does & takes stock about his future. He will continually get better which makes me sad because it looks like he`s not satisfied here & he`ll go after the big bucks as soon as he can, while we watch his rise to stardom else where. I was looking forward to Berrios taking Graterol under his wing, I really believe it would`ve been a great relationship & a reason for Berrios to stick around. Now Graterol is gone, by these recent conditions it looks like Berrios will shake off the dirt from his cleats & move on. Aces don`t come along to MN very often so the FO office should taken this into consideration before trading Graterol. Berrios is a professional & will play his heart out as long he`s a Twin
-
Sorry to hear that

As much as I`d like to see this whole thing blow up, I doubt it will especially concerning our deal w/ LA. LA definitely was told about Graterol condition that`s why they got him so cheap so for LA to back out would be breach of contract because he`d pass his physical. Boston must`ve told LA that they were interested in Graterol. They`re still not saying they don`t want Graterol but saying they were deceived. Thus wanting more. Or maybe the fans want out & Boston would try cancel the deal & try to solve the problem w/o dealing Betts although it`s a great deal for them. Either way our deal w/ LA should stick

Opinion/Rant: Don't Give Another Dime for Maeda

Opinion/Rant: Don't Give Another Dime for Maeda
Doctor Gast commented on Cody Pirkl's blog entry in All Things Twins
To me MN has nothing lose either way. Hopefully if this doesn`t go thru for MN, they will approach Graterol differently selling him as a promising young ace (as he is) that they can be use as an opener & occasionally as a reliever (like Maeda) now, besides giving him opportunity to work on his secondary pitches w/o giving him too many innings in the minors. We can even find another #3 starter w/ even more upside w/o using primarily our pitching prospects Actually after all this display I hope it does go thru for everybody concerned -
Absolutely, both LA & Boston have a lot to lose. LA gets 1yr rental from Betts before he`s FA, so they can try to steal the WS away from NYY & appease their fan base & a fading ace (Price). Price`s contract liability basically cancels out Betts trading value except Boston will help pay down Price`s salary. Boston releases itself from a stiff luxury tax get 2 high prospect to boot (not bad). If this deal doesn`t go thru LA will be heart broken again this PS & Boston will have to pay the tax. MN will find another #3 starter somewhere else, maybe even more agreeable & they change their approach on Graterol & not advertise him as a reliever but a promising starter that can be used as an opener & reliever
