  1. Clearly someone not a fan of the Turtle. You diminish his ability far too much. Don't know what else to say.
  2. Twins pen fails, so they end up one win shy of tying the alltime record. Oh well. KC did earn it...they hit some rockets and a well placed bloop against Thorpe and Graterol. Now its down to business for real.
  3. no one wants extra innings. KC to get it done quicky. Twins do win HR crown. Graterol with a terrible 9th.
  4. I'm not totally buying what mlb says. I rather agree with what Kaat used to do...the pitcher is the QB on these plays. He calls who takes it and in Kaat's case he used to push anyone else out of the way. Doesn't look like Duffey did that so instincts took over. Its easy to sit an watch a monitor and a replay over an over and say...this is how it should have been done. It was an unfortunate accident and I'm sure everyone is very bummed about it.
  5. Looking at the records there isn't much difference between Houston, NY, and the Twins. All 3 are over 100 wins. But realistically, there are lots of differences that the raw numbers don;t tell us. The 3 top pitchers on the Astros could be the toughest trio of starters any team has had going into the post season. Doesn't guarantee success of course, but who wouldn't want these guys? Twins and Yanks have over 300 HR's. Both teams have issues with their rotation. Both teams have had lots of key injuries. Both teams have decent bullpens. The problem is that 'factor' thats hard to explain. For some reason Twins can't beat the Yanks in post season. Even with different players...its almost a mental thing now. Whatever the Twins can do, Yanks do better...when its all on the line. I can hardly bear to watch the Yankees hit against us. One of these days, this has to stop...like the Cubs and Red Sox droughts. Like the Bruins vs the Canadiens for so many years. Twins open on the road...and we all know that will be a HUGE advantage. So maybe thats an omen of sorts. Hope so!
  6. I agree about Astudillo, And I also hope that Adrianza can go. If he's healthy enough, he will contribute. Another reason why the W-L 'stat' is kinda useless. Twins used 8 pitchers today. The least effective was Duffey. He blew the save...gave up a two run HR to tie the game....but he got the 'W' because Cruz homered immediately after Duffey's inning was over. Crazy huh! However those runs were the first he gave up in many many weeks...so its OK.
  7. I didn't see Arraez walk off with help. I saw him put on a cart and wheeled off. Isn't that what happened?
  8. Rogers closes it out for win 101. But it is a costly win. The Turtle is taking this real hard.
  9. rhetorical...why doesn't this game feel good?
  10. Best not to blame anyone. They all play hard...its hard-wired into all of them. Just a very unfortunate injury...the kind that you just pray doesn't happen just before a huge series against a team I just can't stand.
  11. I had a hunch Cruz would help things out. but could we not play tomorrow??? Maybe the injury won't be as bad as it looked..... very wishful thinking I know.
  12. In a nothing game....a devastating injury which sure looks like the end of the line for Arraez this season. What a horrible break.
  13. I hate it when I am right about bad things. I said in the game thread that the Yanks would probably hit 6 and darn it all, they did. Its obscene . Of course the way we were hitting them when everyone was healthy probably was too. What concerns me though is their lineup. We saw it all season...we couldn't stop them. I wouldn't be surprised to see double digit scores each game...unless miraculously our pitching was able to stop them. Our guys say, bring them on...which is what they are supposed to say. But to not be afraid of that hitting machine would be unwise. But would I rather face the pitching machine known as Houston? Geez....what choices! Well, thats why they play the games.
  14. Once you get past the 5th inning....its an official game.
  15. They should wait just the minimum required to call this one.
  16. Reason #1,999 why I despise the Yankees. 5 HR's so far. (I said they'd get 6) And they lead us by 1. Yankees always find ways to hurt us. I'd so love to stick it to them in the playoffs.
  17. Nice! Rocco let him go out out there to get his 200 IP and Berrios finishes the 6th with a flourish. A little ragged to start but ended up being a very strong outing. Now the pen needs to shut them down for just 3 innings and we can look forward to 100 wiins.
  18. Are they going to let Berrios get the 2 more outs he needs for 200 IP? I hope so.
  19. LaMarre puts us 2 up on the Yankees. Keep 'em coming boys! (but make sure the rain doesn;t arrive too soon) Bah--Gardner, the pest, homers for NY. I said they'd get 6 tonite in that launching pad....and they just may do it.
  20. 2 weak AB's so far by the Turtle. But there....a solid single for Cron!
  21. This has been kinda sloppy tonite. But more important, they need to get 5 innings in. Berrios is sort of 'off' tonite. Not horrible, but also not sharp. Nice recovery though to get out of the inning.
  22. The guys in the booth are blaming Rosario for the misplay. What I saw was him chasing the ball, then pulling up, and then it dropped. Didn't see where LaMarre was in the play. Was it his ball?
  23. Sano puts us 1 HR up on the Yanks again.
  24. Rosario misplays a routine fly ball and KC has a cheap run so far. Anyone surprised that NY already has 2 HR's? They may get 6 before the night is over. This inning should have been over...one hit allowed and no runs. Tough break for Berrios. Rosario owes him one.
  25. He's pitching...and KC hits the first pitch for a single. While its good to see Cron playing, he basically is only hitting ground balls now. And not to be too critical, but he was just jogging to first...and that has nothing to do with his thumb.
