  1. I wonder if the Twins would consider trading for Ichiro and cash to help pay his contract. I only say that since they were looking for a speedy OF. I'll go with that, Sign Michael Young, and sign Drew, and Reynolds after that.
  2. If we got a #1 (Stewart) and #4 (Eades) and #2/3 (Gonsalves) starting pitcher and a back up catcher (Turner) from the draft, that's a great draft. If someone else pans out even better.
  3. I am surprised there isn't any Michael Young chatter. His main goal is playing time so he wouldn't be expensive or require a long term commitment. He doesn't strike out but 15-16% of the time or half the team rate of last year. Hits for solid average good for hit and run, plays multiple positions though not a great defender.
  4. I am curious to see if we get another starter and if we make any trades. We seem to be accumulating assets so it makes sense to trade some of them. Overall though I support this signing as I believe Pelfry will have an era in the low 4.00s next year and that will work. I am more concerned about how the lineup improves next year especially since there are no more offensive type catchers available.
  5. Hopefully Doumit gets moved back to back up Catcher and gets 200-300 AB behind the plate and none as a DH unless he is hitting the snot out of the ball. That allows Either Willingham or Kubel to DH or play LF. They could rotate back and Forth and Arcia in RF with Colabello on the bench for power.
  6. I think the Matt Fox ? has to do with this
  7. I am indifferent on Pelfry resigning. I would hope that we do not sign him till after all of the better targets come off the board.
  8. If Garza wants a 4 or 5 year deal and the Twins want to go 3 then why not do a 3 year with an option year or 2 with a decent buyout fee of 3-5 million (based on a performance criteria such as 30 starts or 180-200 innings pitched) and also give Garza an opt out should he decide he wants more money (if he meets a certain performance criteria). I am sure there is a middle ground where they can make a deal if they want to.
  9. I think if we sign Pelfry we may be trading Corriea by the end of spring training if someone isn't on the DL at that time. Instead of signing Drew how about trading for one of Az's SSs. THey have 2 good young ones. I hope Garza signs soon so we know where he'll be.
  10. Seth Arizona is looking to get pitching and they have 2 SS Gregorious and Owens....so one could be available. Do you think the Twins could trade Gibson or any of the out of option pitchers and / or other minor leaguers for one of them as a result of the depth created by the signings.
  11. Seth Arizona is looking to get pitching and they have 2 SS so one could be available. Do you think the Twins could trade Gibson or any of the out of option pitchers and / or other minor leaguers for one of them.
  12. If we sign Garza or Arroyo, we could put together a nice package of prospects around Gibson for one of Az SS's Chris Owings or Didi Gregorius (not sure of spelling).
  13. If Florimon regresses a little say to a .550 OPS next year there would be a .150-.200 OPS differential between Drew and Florimon. that is possible as Florimon got worse hitting as the season went on. I do like that he is an elite defender but am concerned about the bat and the bats on the team as a whole. The big drawback for me on Drew is he doesn't help the strikeout problem we have. But I would sign him easily to a 3 year 30-36 million contract as Drew is still a plus defender and we will still have Florimon as a back up. Another option though is to trade for one of Arizona's SS who are available for pitching....Gibson for Didorious...
  14. I missed the part about 2015 but i put Willingham as i think he is the safest pick to bounce back in 2014.
  15. Seeing the 4 pitchers on the list makes signing Pelfry a disappointment as I have him ranked as the 4th best starter in the group.
  16. Deduno is slated for the 4th spot and he will probably start the season on the DL which opens a spot for Worely and Diamond to get a tryout. Yes the Twins have said Deduno will be ready to go by spring training but by the looks of things they want more insurance. Plus the signing would give the Twins the ability to trade Corriea in spring training or during the season should the opportunity arise.
  17. Both the Mets and Redsox want to only offer a 2 year per mlbtraderumors so a 3 year offer should do the trick. I bet even at a lower AAV like 11 or 12 million per season.
  18. If the Twins sign him it will be for a 3/27 with probably a million or so incentive per season for staying on the field. The only concern with Florimon is if he regresses more with the bat. He'll be fine defensively. THere is lots of pressure for the Twins to make improvements next year with the citiznes who paid for the park and because the allstar game will be here next year. You don't want to be the door mat the year the allstar game is in your neighborhood. and so far the Twins have been thwarted on the offensive side of things with their inability to get a C and then Davis signed with Detroit. Looks like they are getting closer to signing Arroyo. but back to Drew. I am not against it if the price is 3/30 or less. and I still think Young is one of the better signings we could make since it would be short term and he doesnt strike out much either.
  19. Also Raj was 1.8 WAR isn't the market value around 5million per WAR making Raj a 9 million per at WAR market evaluations?
  20. Raj was the 2nd most valuable player on the basepaths. Thats a market inefficiancy the Twins like to capitalize on. ( go back and review my posts on how the twins like to construct their rosters) I think the Tigers jumped in on this to prevent the Twins from getting him. If the Twins improve too much they could become a threat to the Tigers...ok maybe not next year but soon.
  21. I think there is a scenario where it makes sense to bring him here. He can compete with Presley for the CF job with Mastroianni. (also i think signing him says alot about how the Twins feel about Mastroianni's prospects of making the team). He can also have Presley move to LF and let Willingham DH. or Presley can move to RF if both Hicks and Arcia are not cutting it in the majors.... or ther could be another trade comming that we dont know about guarenteeing him a starting job all season. I see him as redundant however unless the trade angle or willingham to DH angle takes hold but even then Davis is just a place holder starter.
  22. this just in on MLB traderumors Twins In, Orioles Out On Rajai Davis
  23. If the Twins sign Arroyo the heat will be up for all members of the rotation to produce. if Corriea goes backwards we has his replacement ready to go. We can also trade him during the season or just flat out release him (though thats not going to happen he does have some value). Deduno will have to work harder to keep his spot as well. I think it would be great to have all that competetion for the rotation.
  24. If he just doesn't want to play the position he is signed to play then the Twins should be able to void his contract for nonperformance. or send him to AAA and play there I guess.
