  1. I can also see him being a coach on the Cubs. Theo did like dealing with the Twins and he did respect them so I can see where he could be a coach on the Cubs.
  2. I think the Rangers are a good fit as well as Milwaukee. what about the Reds? that seems like a good spot with a few more blow ups from price...
  3. I advocate putting Santana back in the OF and putting Escobar at SS.
  4. I'm fine with our current place holders for now. Robinson is out producing expectations at this point Schaeffer is horrible but the season is early. see if Brunanski can help him fix the problem. Santana is turning it around the last few days. Besides we're looking at Schaeffer as a future 4th/ 5th OF for this team so he does have future value just not as a starter. unless he gets on base at.340 OBP and steals bases. I am more shocked that Pelfry and Millone are our 2 best starting pitcher right now. Let that sink in for a minute...
  5. I expect the pitchers will get the call up sooner rather than later. I am disappointed that May is not in the rotation right now. But If Pelfry is healthy and does well in 5 starts then fine he can stay but I was looking forward to seeing him from the pen.
  6. He had shoulder trouble last year after 90 innings is why I am suggesting they monitor his innings or I would be like yeah push him a little.
  7. I don't think keeping him in Fort Myers is about ability but letting him mature as an adult physically. He pitched less then 90 innings last year and has diabetes he has to manage. You don't want t increase his workload too much the innings I posted earlier is what I keep reading you want to increase on a yearly basis. He is not going to be ready to throw 180 innings next year so why push him to the majors then.
  8. because of his age I am ok with him spending the whole year at Fort Myers. He should throw about 110-130 innings this year and next year should be able to go up to 150-160 range at AA and maybe AAA. and then be ready for the majors in 2017 after the free agency or arbitration cut off for service time/ after the coldest month of the season with less pressure from the get go (cough cough) .....
  9. with 550 plate appearances I project .275/ .315/.440 with 25 - 30 2Bs and 20HRs 80 - 90 RBI 7 stolen bases
  10. .270/.330/.370 27 2bs and 5 HR I think he has fundamentally changed his approach and is more of a line drive and less about trying to hit for power. if he doesn't wear out he could hit for a higher average.
  11. I'm fine with the bullpen we had lots of options and no one stepped up but these guys and Hamburger and Achter. I think our pitching will do the same rollover that the offense did last year. Kubel, Willingham, and Collabello for Santana, Escobar, Vargas..... We have 3 or 4 starting pitching prospects on the cusp of being ready and several strong relief prospects as well.
  12. My 2 cents I didn't read into Plouffe going to first other than positional flexibility. The rotation is between May and Millone at this point. I think Pelfry is in the pen. In the pen I see Perkins, Fien, Deunsing, Pelfry, Stauffer, with Thielbar likely and Graham, Boyer, Pressley fighting for the 7th spot In CF if it isn't Hicks or Rosario starting Escobar has shown he can handle short and should get more time to start and let Santana go back and forth between CF and SS again getting more time a SS this year then last though. This way were not sacrificing on offense so much. and Buxton is likely to be up later this year anyway so its not like this is a permanent thing for Santana and it gives more playing time to Escobar who has shown he deserves it.
  13. Most of the turnover on offense occurred during the season last year and really this year is more about finding a good #4 and 5 starter to replace the crap we had most of last season ad for Nolasco to rebound. There wasn't much to replace this offseason. Santana was the best we could have hoped for and we got him. Hunter was one of the better OF too and we got him as well.
  14. I think the Twins have a solid mixture of solid arms for the pen. Thy should be around league average. Throughout the year the Twins will start to bring up and install ore power arms. I am more concerned how the bullpen looks at the end of the season then at the beginning. kind of like how the offense changed over last season. Fien is a solid 7th inning pitcher, Perkins is fine, Burdi is on the way, Pelfry could be a darkhorse pitcher who exceeds expectation here. Deunsing, Thielbar, and Stauffer/Pressley? are likely place holders and gone next offseason I am not as worried about the pen ...outside of the OF defense, CF, 5thstarter, and maybe the 7th bullpen guy, I am pretty confident in this team winning 85 games this season.
  15. If Hunter can get to 1500 career RBIs (need at least this season and next one to get there) He will have a solid case for the Hall of Fame. Whether he gets voted in is a different story. But he'll have over 2500-2600 Hits, 550 2bs, 350 HRs, 200 SBs and 9 OF Gold Gloves, plus several All star appearances. He would be a borderline candidate. I can see his number getting retired.
  16. I have the Sox as an 80-85win team with the potential to win if Rodon succeeds this year. Rodon is the wild card to their season. That lot of pressure. I have LaRoche replacing Dunn's production. Smardijizia is a good player for next year a huge upgrade who will make the rotation a winner especially if Rodon starts out strong. Robertson is a huge bullpen upgrade and so is Duke but they could use another reliever or two for the middle innings as their pen was really bad last year. Beckham replaces himself as he was traded last year and is ok defensively but a terrible hitter, and Cabrera is an upgrade with average, on base, and defense over Viciedo but not with power. Cabrera really helps with high on base percentage as the team does not have a lot of guys who get on base real well. overall there were huge strides made but there is 0 depth on this team and they really need Rodon to have a good year to really have a chance to make this year count. overall their offense is likely to be average as LaRoche replaces Dunn offensively and that was needed as Dunn was done after last year regardless so LaRoche keeps the team from a huge hole but I don't necessarily see a winner here. again they need depth in all area except starting pitching in case of injuries.
  17. But the Tigers are going to have to replace Insler, Miggy, Martinez, as they are aging and a huge part of the team. On Pitching there is Price as a FA and Verlander and Sanchez aging. Maybe not this year as I think they will still be good this year but next year will start the slide and really kick into full swing from there IMO. Unless they have other moves that work out but I think they will be too saddled by bad contracts for a few years.
  18. I agree with this assessment. The Tigers have the deepest rotation in the division. the question is how will their pen hold up. I am surprised they are not making any moves with whats still available this offseason. Their offense is good too. Next year they could be competitive too but after that I am going to start doubting it. Next year they'll need Price to resign or a good replacement. But after next season when their offensive pieces are all 2 years older I can see several of them breaking down and slowing down as well.
  19. Personally I think Escobar > Hicks so Escobar should remain at SS and Santana in CF. But what do I know. so if Hicks can hit .250 / .340./ .350 then I can live with that till Buxton comes up. Also I expect Hicks to run more than he did last year.
  20. The only part of Hunters defense is going to be range. He can run routes and has a strong arm so that is why his defense will be adequate its not like he's patrolling a much larger RF like in Detroit which would have a bigger negative impact. He is not the best defensive RF either but with the offense and our lack of better options as he was one of the best options out there. So comparatively speaking we did real good to get Hunter. As far as SS goes. I am not going to complain one way or the other who starts as both Santana and Escobar deserve starting jobs and I think it will come down to whether or not Hicks can show enough in spring to handle CF. The good news here is we have the depth to handle either an injury or a player who is not yet ready to come up. I wouldn't be opposed to getting Burgoise or whatever the correct spelling is from St Louis to compete for the 4th OF spot.
  21. I feel Escobar did enough last year to justify a starting job. If he can continue to hit like last season then his stock goes up and we have the option of keeping him or trading him for something of value....keeping the Liriano trade chain going and paying more and more dividends. I also believe Santana will still be a solid offensive player. Even if he regresses I doubt he drops below .280 Average with 30 2bs and 25-30 SBs too. Escobar should only be on the bench only if Hicks shows enough and are convinced enough that he can out produce Escobar in Spring and then continue to do so in the majors on a fairly short leash.
  22. I think a 3 year 22 to 24 million extension would make sense through his prime years for Plouffe. Plouffe would have lifelong security and we should get a discount for that contract. I am not saying they should do that but if they do extend him that should be the range. I do not think they should extend him beyond 3 years though unless its with an option the Twins can easily decline.
  23. KC is at 112 million? I suspect we should be able to top them. Maybe because we're at a different spot in the team cycle I guess.
  24. I am happy with what he has done as he was almost a failed prospect altogether a few years back and he kept grinding it out. Now he has trade value and value to this team. If he is playing above average defense and hits .260 with 30 2Bs and 20 HRs I can live with that.
  25. I see the Twins as a playoff contender this next season. Or more of an 85 win team. With a top 5 offense that should continue to produce and now we have an abundance of starting options. We have so many that no one even talks about Rogers or Duffy as potential starting pitcher candidates at some point next season. Both put up good numbers in AA last year so why are they not in the discussion for roles in our rotation. Anyway with a top 5 offense a league average bullpen and a league average rotation is a winning team. We have 4 starters capable of winning 12-15 games and a collection of pitchers capable of handling the 5th starter role if not for the season then for part of it. There were no extreme performances last season on offense that would regress so much to hurt the offense next season...maybe Santana maybe our CF situation doesn't get fixed and we have to go with our back up plan. Putting Escobar at SS is still not going to hurt the offense. While last season we noticed how bad the OF defense was our 4th and 5th starters were terrible and Nolasco was injured. I think those 3 spots will see some of the best improvement next year with Nolasco healthy, Santana in the fold, and May and Meyer 1 year more experienced. We have more team depth then we know what to do with. We will be an 85 or better win team next season.
