  1. Wah Wah Wah. When the Twins signed Park they were surprised. Tonkin was the 13th man on a 12 man staff. He made it to 12th man cause he is out of options. Sano should have been able to handle OF for a few years. He is in his early 20s. The re-emergence of Vargas creates a nice problem. As far as the Buxton and Barrios are concerned they are 22 years old. Let's give them 2 years to fully develop before we get so upset they weren't instant Allstars.
  2. Since we do have the starters in AA that should be ready at some point next year, i am ok with Nolasco starting the year with Twins as long as he moves aside when Gonsalves or one of tje others are ready for their chance.
  3. These type of moves werr also a Terry Ryan specialty. I want to see how he handles bigger trades. But Antony did good on this one.
  4. It would be nice if the Twins were able to give him a september call up for a few games at some point same with Beresford. Like tommy watkins a few years back

  6. Does tendering Nunez count as a parting gift? a lot of people here wanted him non-tendered.
  7. Lets just make Sano the catcher. its not like we have good options there anyway. if not him then Park or Palka...... If Sano cant play 3B then we need to either keep Plouffe or find another 3B option. and we will also have a logjam at 1B/ DH and at this point i am fine with putting Mauer on the bench part of the time to find out who the future is. We will also have additional trade capital too.
  8. I think everyone has forgotten where the team is in this rebuild we just got the first wave of prospects up and there's another wave coming. TR did make the right moves for the bullpen for example this last offseason. would you rather have Kintzler and Abad or Sipp and Bastardo and their contracts? So when we won the bidding for Park it as a surprise and we had to adjust. It caused Sano to move to the OF for a while. That was never intended to be permanent. Palka for Herman? who wouldn't make that trade again? We had a bunch of bad things happen with ineffectiveness, injuries, and rookies backtracking. The team is starting to rebound and play better and we have more prospects ready to come up. We were on the right track. I bet we end up in the mid 70s fir wins this season just like what was predicted at the beginning because we are still in the rebuild mode and will be for 2 more seasons.
  9. We could pick up Suzuki's option for next season so we can go slow with the transition of Garver to the majors. Cause with what we have now either Garver makes it or we have nothing. or we can bring in someone from the outside and at the end of the season we can decide to bring Suzuki back on a 1 year contract for 6 million by picking up his option. The option automatically vests with plate appearances but we can still decide to exercise it. If the plan is for Garver to get an opportunity then this is the most risk averse/ low cost option available for the transition next year. If we decide to sign a different Catcher to a long term contract then of course we don't exercise Suzuki's option and Garver can try to make the team as a back up. That's how I see our options playing out.
  10. I just think the Twins are still a season away. The Twins had a good year last year and have turned it around lately and we have such a deep farm system. I think we'll be a conte der soon and for a long time and Ryan played a big part of it.

  12. Anthropolis, someone from billy beane or dodgers collection of former gms
  13. Currently on mlb.com the Twins have 3 starting pitchers in the top 100 propects in all of baseball. We also have Duffy and Gibson as home grown starters plus we have other strong starting pitcher prospects so I'll wait a few years to see how these guys do to judge the Twins ability to draft and develop starting pitching
  14. We have 3 starting pitchers in mlb.coms top 100 prospects. Let that sink in for a minute. Plus Gibson and Duffy are already up. We still have Wheeler, Felix, Stewart and more on top of that
  15. I'm giving Millone a few starts t see f he can build any kind of value if not dump him Auguat 1rst and bring up Berrios or Wheeler I'm ok with keeping Santana and Nolasco till the offseason. I would trade Nolasco first fir anything to get the contract off the books. We should have plenty of starting pitcher options ready throughout next year. I would like to see May in the rotation. I'm open to trading Plouffe now as i think Sano / Kepler makes a better 3b/RF combo then Plouffe/ Sano. I'm keeping Suzuki cause i dont see better options ready to take over. I'm not sold on Murphy and would rather he earn a shot first. If Vargas keeps hitting and taking good at bats I would want to sit Mauer some so Vargas gets more opportunities. I'm open to trading Nolasco, Plouffe, and some relievers Kintler and Abad but I am open to keeping the relievers too. I want to see Polanco come up but not sure how to get him here. especially if vargas hits. Though he could rotate at 2b and 3rd and DH if he came up. and play close to half ttime.
  16. I think the Rangers need to be moved to our division
  17. I think Suzuki is a solid enough player if the Twins pick up his option at the end of the year. I dont think he should get more than 1 year in any circumstance. He also shouldnt play everyday either. 100 to 120 starts. I think the Twins will sign him if they decide to go with Murphy, Stuart, Garver long term cause they can always cut him loose next year when thet are ready and he isnt producing. But if the Twins decide to go after Weiters or LuCroy or other C then Suzuki is out the door. Suzuki seems to hit better with less playing time.
  18. It looks like more of the Twins offensive pieces are comming back around, Sano, Kepler, Dozier, it may make sense to wait till next year to trade Santana to see if we can be competitive next year. That would also allow us to trade or release Nolasco next year first when the younger guys start coming up. I wouldn't trade Santana just to free up payroll space. At the same time if we get something good in return besides salary relief. We should consider trade options.
  19. If he was njured in spring he was hitting just fine for a while so the injury was manageable. If your hitting why say anything. He goes into a slump and thinks he can break out of it but got into bad habits and then doesn't break out of the slump. at that point it makes sense to recover from the injury which looks like what is happening here. I'm sure if Park slumped from the beginning of the season and then continued to slump he would have done something about the injury earlier. I don't think he needs surgery or anything like that. Lets see what a little rest does for him.
  20. While i am far from a Nolasco fan I think the 6 innings a start he consistantly provide has value to the Twins right now. Especially with Millone not going making it through 6 in many of his starts. Gibson seems to have turned a corner and is comming around. we can only hope for Duffy. I think Berrios will be up soon enough to take the spots of either Millone or Duffy. With Nolasco, the question is can he get down to giving up 2 or 3 runs in 6 innings instead of 3 to 5.
  21. I think the tradeables would be Plouffe, Nunez, either Nolasco or Santana. you want to keep one starter who is capable of pitching 200 innings. Santana seems to have more value on the trade market and we can get rid of Nolasco at the end of next season so I would probably trade Santana over Nolasco. I would keep dozier as we do need some veterans to hang around and he seems to be one they can market around. Though I would listen for a good deal since we do have Polanco who I think is a future big leaguer.
  22. also you quote the overall record but forget how bad the resources were for Terry Ryan to work with back then. This season has been awful but we are not as far off from being competitive as you think.
