  1. Obviously... every team needs a superstar big bat but some more than others. The Twins are trying to add some power and protection for Sano with the addition of Park. If Park fails or gets hurt we have Arcia and Vargas to try and become that guy. The Indians don't have that kind of power potential. I'd be taking a long look at Pedro Alverez right now if I were them Because they need some insurance. Santana and Napoli and after that... ? With that pitching staff... They need to go for it.
  2. The Indians pitching... Starting and pen is fantastic and it should keep them contending. They really need a superstar big bat to aid the offense. If I was GM and the owner let me do what I want. I would have been after Chris Davis. And I would have picked up Napoli as well. The Indians have depth issues in the power department. They are a key injury away (Santana or Napoli) from needing to become a speed team and they don't have enough speed to do that.
  3. I think our Twins will be a better team in 2016 and nobody will notice. The American League is loaded. The A's are the only potential cupcake. I think it's quite possible that the best record in the AL is under 90 wins because running away with it and hiding will be near impossible because of the competition. Meanwhile the National League has all the cupcakes. Braves, Phillies, Marlins(Maybe) Brewers, Reds, Rockies and Padres. It's gonna be intense in the A.L. This year. I don't know if the Twins have done enough to keep up. I can't wait to find out... Go Twins!!!
  4. I'm a Brian Dozier Fan but I'd rather have the Frazier/Lawrie combo over Plouffe/Dozier. The Twins top the White Sox in youth, depth and SS. Everything else is a push or a clear (on paper) White Sox advantage. I've often thought... If the White Sox fix their defense... look out. Frazier and Lawrie and Saldano firms up the infield nicely. If they get Fowler for the OF. Bullpen become their only weakness. I refuse to look past them
  5. Strong starting pitching and improved defense. I refuse to look past them.
  6. While I'm disappointed to hear he was battling blurriness at the plate and feel it was incredibly dangerous. The way we fans reacted to his bi-lateral leg weakness... I wouldn't blame him for staying quiet. Nobody willingly walks towards a gang with pitchforks.
  7. Concussion discussion... Early retirement is going to be the norm going forward in my opinion. Should Joe Hang it up? Not my call... I don't have enough info. I've seen players have better years after lesser years and players have lesser years after better years and lesser years after lesser years. I'm reluctant to predict anyone's 2016 based on 2015.
  8. I'm sympathetic to concussion issues however I'm not comfortable with a player playing compromised. If Joe wasn't forthcoming... I'm not cool with that and if Joe was forthcoming and Molly said get in there anyway... I'm not cool with that either. It ain't good if Joe is playing baseball like me trying to read my cellphone.
  9. We could absorb it at 1B if our catcher hit .850 plus. Go get em Murph!!!
  10. My Guess: I think the Twins are really hoping that Park becomes the perfect guy to hit behind Sano and I think they like Plouffe Defensively at 3B. Probably like him a lot more over Sano. In that context... It kinda makes sense. Of course I don't know what they think... This is what I think they think.
  11. A couple of thoughts 1. Santana doesn't have a starting job. SS/CF utility makes perfect sense and I've thought this all along. None of this surprises me at all... I assumed most of us assumed this. 2. If "what position you play" matters at the plate. Send those players to a psychologist.
  12. It's the same for all teams... MLB doesn't allow it. They'd like you to purchase the internet audio from them. If you do happen across it somewhere it's because the radio station made a mistake.
  13. Seattle gets Portland Cincinnati gets Columbus and Kentucky St. Louis gets Memphis Detroit gets Michigan Atlanta gets South Carolina, Alabama and Mississippi The Twins get Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota and there isn't a lot of population outside of the Twin Cities in those states. If you are just looking at metro populations to make the small market case... you are starting from a bad spot.
  14. A month in AAA may or may not help him improve. But it may help us identify if he has.
  15. Yeah I'm still not understanding the Hicks deal. This would have been the first year that I would be OK with Hicks breaking camp with the club. Now we (at least I do cuz the Twins may not) need to entertain the idea of renting a CF.
  16. I keep forgetting about Sweeney. I'm not sure why I keep looking past him. Probably because he was out of baseball last year but that isn't totally fair to him.
  17. My concern is the overall OF Defense in that scenario. Having Rosario man a corner spot with a CF who can play... Will help the OF go get a few extra baseballs. If you move Rosario to CF... Now you got Sano and Arcia? and those two playing the corners with Rosario in CF and you are probably sub par at each OF position. All you gotta do is put a CF who can play out there and the OF becomes pretty good... In my opinion of course. Buxton is the type of potential superstar that you don't want struggling at the plate just to keep his defense at the MLB Level. He's too good to rush... too good to let get frustrated... too good to let him doubt himself and too good to burn service time while he tries to figure it out. Buxton might be a superstar out of the 2016 gate but I'd feel better with some insurance.
  18. One Year Deal I'd do it Two year deal And I wouldn't
  19. If Rosario struggles... I won't care as much as I did when Hicks was struggline because I like the way he plays the game. He's the type of player who can find a way to help you win even if he struggles at the plate. You can give him some extended rope to sort through things.
  20. I believe in Buxton and also believe that it would be very risky to give Buxton the job on opening day. Just like it was risky to give Hicks the job on opening day before that. I'd like some Buxton insurance. If not Lagares... someone like him.
  21. The Criminal Justice System probably has untold stories like this all over the place. Shadowed doubts everywhere and they don't get this level of exposure. I've watched all 10 on Netflix and I found it intriguing. However... I thought it had the potential to make a nice Zoolander script.
  22. I can get in line with this statement. I can't get in line with any statement that Nunez has no value. I saw Nunez contribute. Big Hits... Base Running and Defense. He's an alright player. Yet possibly superfluous at this point.
  23. This is not the Nunez I've been watching. He has not been the defensive liability that you describe. In the OF... Maybe. In the infield... He's been decent enough.
  24. In my opinion. The Twins have two things to do and they haven't done them yet. CF -- I love Buxton and I hope that Buxton will be great someday. Based on last year... he has some things to learn first. If Buxton is starting in CF on opening day. It might work but even if it works. It'll show me that they haven't learned a valuable lesson that should have been learned after multiple years of giving Hicks the starting job with no safety net. A decent place holding CF should have been acquired. Bullpen -- We have enough starting pitching options but all of our starting pitching options are not decent enough to believe that the bullpen isn't going to be leaned on hard. The Twins needed a LH Pen piece and signing Abad isn't going to cut it. I understand that we have hard throwing farm hands and I understand the price for pen has gone up. It doesn't matter right now... The Twins need to pay the price. 2 Needs unmet thus far. Doesn't mean we can't win it but it does mean that the needs have been unmet thus far.
  25. I will ask for Patience and try to keep myself composed. However, I have asked for Patience before and usually by the time I ask it... It's just too late and won't do me good any more.
