  1. One of the great thinkers of our time… Eddie Vedder once said: “The best revenge is to live on and prove yourself”. Take that Cleveland! Jeremy spoke in class this weekend and he said “We’re Still Alive”. I wish we had someone on the team named Jeremy because this section would have tied together better that way. Now it’s four games in Boston at Fenway Park. The Twins are Smokin’ and Feelin’ Satisfied. It’s More Than a Feeling to have this kind of Peace of Mind… So… Don’t Look Back. Here are some things to think about: 1. Boston – I’ve been to Boston once in my life and it was a nice visit but once was enough. I remember losing my pants in the hotel room. I swore I brought some Khakis but I couldn’t find them in my luggage and I was looking around the hotel room when the maid came in and asked what I was looking for. I told her that I couldn’t find my Khakis and she held up my car keys and said “they are right here”. I said “Thanks” and went for a drive around Boston without pants. 2. Our Twins – Just like that… we are back in first place. The experts don’t know what to say. They keep saying the same thing over and over. They still expect the Indians to eventually run away with the Central and they still don’t believe in the Twins. The Twins obviously can’t read. 3. The Red Sox – Things have been below average for the Red Sox this past week. They lost 2 out of 3 to the Angels over the weekend and they lost 2 out of 3 to the Royals before that. Expectations were high for the Red Sox and they are sitting tied for 1st place but it’s not like the starting pitching has held up. Chris Sale is the only starter that is punching teams out on a regular basis and that’s who we get to face tonight. 4. Today’s Joe M Conversation: Mauer: Hey, Joe… can you look this over and see if it looks alright. McCarthy: What is it? Mauer: It’s a letter to Twins payroll department. I’m asking for all 23 million in one big check. Maddon: Why? Mauer: I’m tired of running to the bank every time I get a smaller check like this one. Montana: Smaller check? That check is 1.6 million. Mauer: I’d rather do it all in one trip. McCarthy: You spelled receive wrong. Mauer: I can never spell that word right. I’m bad at spelling. Maddon: Use mnemonic devices… they help with spelling. Montana: I before E except after C… that's a mnemonic device. Mauer: Receive… I before E except after C… hey, that works… is it always like that? Maddon: Yep Mauer: That’s weird. McCarthy: With mnemonics I can spell any word. Mauer: How do you spell mnemonic? McCarthy: I don’t know. 5. Invisible Ink – I bought an invisible ink pen about 20 years ago. I think it’s still working but I can’t be sure. _____________________ Lineups: TWINS Brian Dozier 2B Eduardo Escobar DH Miguel Sano 3B Robbie Grossman RF Kennys Vargas 1B Jorge Polanco SS Chris Gimenez C Eddie Rosario LF Byron Buxton CF Jose Berrios P RED SOX Mookie Betts RF Dustin Pedroia 2B Xander Bogaerts SS Mitch Moreland 1B Andrew Benintendi LF Chris Young DH Jackie Bradley CF Sandy Leon C Tzu-Wei Lin 3B Chris Sale P Weather: sunny to partly cloudy, 76 deg F, no rain, winds up to 14mph from the WSW Play ball! 3. Cross away... As long as I don't end up crossing my arms in disgust after.
  4. Wonderful. I was going to use that. Now I gotta come up with a new Joe M Conversation for Monday.
  5. His fastball has some nice back up to it. Hopefully he can backdoor some right handed hitters with it. He's got another version of the fastball that doesn't for a little trickery. He's gotta get it down tho. I vote we keep him for awhile and see how he does.
  6. Welcome to the big leagues Trever Hildenberger. Go give your Mom a hug
  7. He's got to bring the fastball down but that change is good.
  8. It's ok... I have a plan. I'm going to eat this stuff real quick so I can say that we are out of ice cream and buy some real stuff.
  9. LOL No... She tried... It's a Caramel Crunch type thing but it the Target Market Pantry variety and I don't think those guys try very hard based on the end result.
  10. I've stated this before... I really have no problem with any of the Twins announcers... Regular or Occasional fill in. However... I do believe that the time has come for the next generation of baseball announcers and the new guys are going to have to be able to work with increased graphics and statistical breakdowns. In the future... players will be wearing Fit Bit type devices and the announcer is going to have to talk about how the pitchers heart rate is racing with the bases loaded, 1 out and 1 run lead in game 7 of the world series.
  11. Got myself a bowl of ice cream as a reward for a hard week at work. Bad Ice Cream is still pretty dang good but... Why did my wife have to buy bad ice cream?
  12. I would Players are like a razor... You should use them when they are sharp.
  13. Average bunt... His speed made it work. Bauer could have had him but he threw it inside the bag and Santana couldn't reach across Buxton to catch it.
  14. That's good news. All the West Virginia locals will finally get a chance to take a shower and clean up a little.
  15. From your fingers to the baseball god's eyes.
  16. Molitor: Hey Turley... If it wasn't for the 2 home runs 6 hits and the additional 8.3 innings needed. You would have had a perfect game.
  17. The bullpen will be necessary tonight. Good News though,,, Sano isn't in the ineup and the last time Sano wasn't in the lineup... we scored 20 runs.
  18. This is how I do it Dear Mejia, Please don't walk guys hitting .174 Sincerely, Riverbrian
  19. I love it up there. The Islands are beautiful. One of the great Minnesota Spots... Right after Target Field.
  20. It does but your hand will get wet when you grab it.
  21. Wisconsin Dells is trying to pull the Minnesotans in. Explore Minnesota is trying to pull Iowans in.
