  1. I never would have sent Berrios down in the first place, but at this point, I'd wait out the 10 more days hoping upon hope that a few teams get desperate. This is about what I would do. I'd wait 10 more days. If the Twins are of the mind to try to get value from Nolasco and Milone, would they keep Berrios down longer? I can't answer that.
  2. If Berrios isn't up yet (and as of 1:07 CDT 7/20/16, that is the case), then I leave him down there until August 1st. It's a lost season and Jose could be making major league starts. I get that, but two more starts in AAA isn't going to change anything about his future. Waiting until Aug 1 allows Nolasco and Milone to get two more starts. We all want them gone, but none of us think we can get anything for them. I mostly agree, but if they pitch decent over those couple starts (like they did the last two games), then you might get a desperate team either willing to take on salary (mostly a Nolasco issue) and/or part with a lottery ticket prospect. Benching them takes that possibility away.
  3. While I SORT OF understand giving him starts in CF if you feel like you need to give Buxton and Rosario time at AAA..... with both of them on roster, there is absolutely no reason to have him play CF.
  4. I had to google her. Also, I didn't know it was a "her" until the google.
  5. Shocker!
  6. 2008 - Jim ask Carl about replacing Terry Ryan
  7. Santana can be part of the solution. Don't trade him. Any of the other pitching FA signings can go, as far as I am concerned. I'll lump Milone in that group too. The only bullpen arm that make any sense from the Twins perspective (less than two years left of cost control) and from the perspective of a potential trade partner (they are worth a damn) is Abad. I'm fine if he gets traded, but I wouldn't have any sense of urgency about it. Plouffe. Nice enough guy, but he's just completely squeezed off of this roster. There is very little reason to keep him around. Sure, if you could trade Mauer, I could find a place for Plouffe, but I can't think there's any interest in Mauer, whereas, there might be a little interest in Plouffe. Trade him as soon as possible. Dozier. I'd listen if people are making offers, but I'd need something pretty decent. Good cost control. Good production. Plays a decent 2b. He can totally be part of the solution, but I'd have to listen because Polanco is knocking at the door, playing very good at AAA, and runs out of options this offseason. Suzuki. Sure. Why not? He's been hot enough that he actually has some value now. If we trade him and he plays well, his new team will probably activate that option year. I've heard some people say we could just get him back in the offseason. I don't buy it, and if he went back to "normal Kurt", we wouldn't want him back anyway.
  8. Happy to help
  9. And he's OPS-ing 5.000 on balls that go out of play.
  10. 0-swaldo
  11. Peak Morneau was a truly great player. It's sad to look back at 2006-2010 and think what could have been (exactly half way through 2010 he had a OPS+ of 187) I don't want to put that type of projection on a young kid, but I see no reason he can't be Morneau-lite in a couple years. 275/375/500, 25 HR With a kid that big and athletic, could he take it one step further once he gets more experience and fills out his frame.....? Yeah, maybe. Just think of all the progress he's made in the last 18 months. Do we view it as a positive or a negative that in 2014 he had an OPS of 726 in high-A? A negative Nelly would use that to project his future stats. a positive Paul would commend him for an unbelievable improvement over 1.5 seasons.
  12. .600 ball saves everyone's job .400 to .600 saves Molitor but not TR Under .400 and everyone's gone.
  13. A ball hit into Kepler's Observatory, it turns out, would be a HR in lots of ballparks.
  14. Depends on if you consider lucky to be "wow that just barely cleared the wall", or "there's only a couple ballparks that would've been a HR in."
  15. If he played in Yankee Stadium he might hit 50 homeruns (like Mauer at Fenway )
  16. According to ESPN's homerun tracker, only one of his homeruns this year could legitimately be called "cheap," and it was in Yankee Stadium http://www.hittrackeronline.com/detail.php?id=2016_3073&type=hitter
  17. We need a nickname for the overhang that Kepler hits all his homeruns into
  18. I can't wait for Berrios to burn through 30 more innings over his next 4 (AAA) starts only to have him shutdown by mid September.
  19. It's a little hard to complain about our bullpen after the last two days. Can Chargois start?
  20. He had Abad warming up when the Marlin got on in the 9th, so I'm guessing it's closer by 9-man committee at this point. Oops... 14 minutes late
  21. I'm just glad that the design team at Populous didn't have that fence back 5'
  22. Saw the replay, just what I expected. Mauer Flower Power!
