After Kurt hurt his back they had a shot of the dugout and Mauer was strapping on some gear. I was like "no fu@&ing way!!!" But it turned out it was his foul ball gear for his foot
I'd be for the coaches getting MORE replay challenges (3 maybe), but needing to use them within 10 seconds of the call. It's the top-step stalling that drives me bonkers.
We wouldn't have won the Escobar challenge. He MIGHT have been safe, but I didn't think it was very clear. His right hand was already past the bag by the time his left hand touched the bag. Bad slide by him.
Says who? There wasn't testing back then. It was the wild west of performance enhancing drugs/supplements. I enjoyed the time Jim Thome spent here, but to just assume he wasn't taking anything is, in my opinion, naive.
That almost makes it worse if they end up going with Milone. I was hopeful that the reason Meyer didn't pitch the last couple days was because they knew Gibson and Santana might go on the DL and with Milone pitching bad, they wanted to leave their options open. Not pitching him either of the last two days doesn't make sense any other way.
For a handful of years, I've been pretty good at checking box scores of the minor league affiliates every day to track the position players worth following. Often times it ended up being "oh... Kohl Stewart was pitching.... I wonder how he did" This year is different. Not that there aren't ANY position players worth tracking, but most of them are on the major league club at this point and now it's all about the pitchers Berrios Meyer Gonsalves Stewart Jorge Jay Thorpe (eventually) ...and a handful of relief guys I'm finding it harder to track them since they don't pitch every day. It's almost like I need a weekly "here's when our top pitching prospects are scheduled to start this week" post.
Someone needs to tell Paul Molitor that any of our AAA relievers would be better against major league pitching than most of our starting rotation the third time through the order. THIS IS A REAL THING, PAUL!!!!
What should be done: Park to AAA, Sano to DH, Kepler to RF, Arcia to Waivers, Polanco to the Big League club What will be done: nothing until at least Sunday.
