This is a Groundhog Day of a season - every game seems to play out the same in a loss. What is the positive lesson in removing a young pitcher 1 out away from a 5 inning start and a possible win - how does that build his confidence? Playing and batting Logan Shafer 5th - How can the new regime look at this manager and possibly keep him?
I like the hire - hope he does get named this week so we can start on the reconstruction as soon as possible. I love baseball but I have never been so ready for a season to be over.
Trying to make up my mind if I want Grossman on the team next year. Pretty good OBP - horrible defense. Would make a good part-time DH and PH but we seem to have plenty of those.
Agree! My low point may be a tie between the 13 game losing streak and this series with Detroit at home. The 13 game streak because before that we had moved the young guys in and we were playing respectable maybe on pace to hit 70 wins and then the bottom fell out with that losing streak removing any optimism for the future. This Detroit series was just embarrassing from their effort or lack thereof - not being competitive. Certain players have quit on the season and I get it they were eliminated in April but it is still a matter of pride in your performance. This would not happen if there was strong leadership either from a veteran player or stronger manager. If this does not change I don't expect any different results next year.
OK, it was 3-2 going to the top of the 9th and I had to get on a conference call for work - I come back and it is 9-2 ballgame. This team is unbelievably horrid and unwatchable. Can't execute basic plays - don't they have some pride?
