Didn't bother reading through this thread and becoming depressed, but it was quite obvious what the game plan for both teams was... Twins were looking to get the Yankees to chase pitches outside the strike zone, and the Yankees weren't going to take the bait. The Twins pitchers were constantly behind in counts, and had to throw pitches in the zone, and the Yankee hitters knew. Really, it was quite obvious the Twins were so concerned with the Yankee hitters, and they have pitched scared. This entire series. Rather than attacking these guys in the zone, in their weak/cool spots, they opted to throw pitches out of the zone and try to get them to chase. No luck, and it has turned out terribly for the Twins.

Everyone wants to blame the roster, the players, the manager, coaching staff, etc...but this series/end result of this season, where everything was supposed to be different and the Twins were going to exercise all these demons...is 100% ON THE FRONT OFFICE. You can put together another 5-10 page thread on this and on that, but the number one reason why this team is headed towards another disappointing postseason is on the Pohlads, Lavine, and Falvey for not going out and getting a legit starting pitcher(s) to help this team. Instead, they didn't want to mortgage the future (again). What future? What has the FUTURE gotten the Twins over the last 20 years? 15 straight postseason losses, and an embarrassing stretch of games. Non competitive games, games where you never feel that the Twins have a chance. It is ridiculous, it is unacceptable, and it is downright negligent that this front office continues to have the mindset of "we cannot mortgage the future to help our team in the short term." Seriously, even Mark freaking Rosen was on the radio yesterday stating this...and how he 100% understands now and will agree with fans when/if they opt to not show up to Target Field in 2020, continue to rip the FO for their lack of moves, etc. Shame on this organization. Shame. On. Them.

Front Page: Twins ALDS Roster Announced
SpicyGarvSauce replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Yeah, was definitely a bit of a surprise when the lineup was posted. Figured with Arraez's ankle and Schoop being strong against LHP, he was an automatic start at 2nd. Hard to ignore a guy with an OPS north of .900 versus LHP when the opponent is starting a LHP. -
Come on man, it is a bit...I think negatively, with the hope of something positive happening. Like, when I said the Twins wouldn't beat Clevinger in the DH'er a few weeks back.

Front Page: Twins ALDS Roster Announced
SpicyGarvSauce replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The personnel is spot on, I think...but I think Garver leads off. -
Good, informative article...but I am skeptic to get too excited about Minnesota having any advantage over the Yankees. Berrios's numbers are a bit skewed too, and Paxton has been damn good in September. SSS, but still. Maybe it is the previous heartbreak that I have endured when watching the Twins play the Yankees, but I am just not too confident at this point.

IMO, a pretty important start for Berrios...if for anything, his own self confidence. And any update or word on Odorizzi? -
Front Page: Week in Review: Closing In
SpicyGarvSauce replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I love your responses - you take them so personal. Gibson isn't being put on the roster over Stashak, and Perez & Thorpe aren't sure things either. In fact, Thorpe over Stashak would be a total mistake. Thorpe has only pitched 4 or more innings once over the last few months, so it isn't like he is able to give you a ton of innings either. Plus, he has been pretty bad in September. Oh, and he isn't good against LHH either, which is where you could theoretically find a role for him. Stashak isn't being left off the playoff roster. If you want to place a wager on this, send me a message.- 38 replies

At this point, there is no way the Twins can leave Stashak off the postseason roster. Omitting him from that was either an oversight, or something else. One of, if not both, Gibson and Perez will be left off. I am thinking Perez makes it, just as a 2nd lefty option in the pen.- 38 replies

Gibson and Perez should be nowhere near the playoff roster. Their most recent starts were absolute disasters, against terrible teams.- 38 replies

No chance, considering Arraez has rarely played third and the Twins have been more likely to play Astudillo and Marwin at first instead of Sano.- 24 replies

Front Page: Twins May Pick a Postseason Specialty

The Twins don't steal bases, so that takes a bit of the lust away from Miller. Wade has at least shown the capability of having quality ABs, albeit SSS.- 24 replies

As a human being, Gibson is awesome. Really, a terrific guy. In the current state of his pitching/baseball career, he is bad. Watching him struggle against one of THE worst teams in baseball, just inexcusable at this point. However, I blame some of this on Baldelli and the management for allowing Gibson to pitch in a meaningful game, given what he has/is dealing with physically. All things considered, Gibson pitching last night was pure negligence by Baldelli and his staff. I am a fan, for the most part, of Baldelli and what he has shown as a manager, but it is decisions like these that make me shake my head. Slide Smeltzer or Thorpe into Gibson's spot in the rotation, and go from there. Gibson shouldn't be on the playoff roster either at this point.
