  1. The only other season, IMO, that felt like this was 2006 - where the Twins have a legit chance to make a run at a World Series. That team and front office did very little to improve themselves and make that "put them over the top" move, and it obviously failed them. Swept by the Oakland A's in the ALDS. You cannot assume these things are going to be long term - when you have an opportunity like this, you need to make a move(s). Go for it. I am not saying you need to mortgage the future, or sell all assets for a chance at one run, but there are ways to do it. I am sick of reading articles about how the Yankees and Astros and Dodgers are interested in certain guys - and the Twins are always middling, standing in the back, picking up Matt Capps or Jon Rauch. If the Twins have as deep and good of farm system as people claim, there are ways to get deals done...for now, and the future.
  2. Biggest game of the season. The. Biggest.
  3. The Twins should actively be looking to improve both - for both the short term (this season) and beyond.
  4. Dude also plays the deepest left field in the history of baseball. Probably has to do with the comfort level he has out there, and not being the most skilled at going back on balls.
  5. Right - on the television, it did look like Odorizzi told them "I am good" and that is when they decided to leave him in there. Obviously what followed makes the decision look even worse. Look at how the 4th inning unfolded though leading up to that grand slam - Sano error (dude is atrocious defensively, let's be honest), a walk, a bloop single by Grossman that I am still surprised Buxton didn't catch (took a bad initial route on it)...and then bam, the grand slam to Herrmann. Baseball is a cruel animal sometimes.
  6. My man should be looking for a new rental property...like, immediately.
  7. This Detwiler kid, not very good. Has made 1 ML appearance since 2016 and owns a 5.5 career K/9 rate.
  8. That was a few days ago - we haven't heard anything since on Buxton's progress and how the days of hitting went. Definitely worrisome, tbh. Have to imagine that Rosario is out until the AS break. What about Marwin? Haven't heard a word on him either.
  9. Yeah, probably Littell. Which is a bummer, as I have high hopes for him.
  10. That isn't what you said - you said the strikeout is the worst out possible with bases loaded and 1 out. Which, you know, isn't accurate. At all.
  11. At least, from the quotes above, that Sano is open to working on and correcting the issues. It is comforting to know he isn't just sticking to his guns, and telling the coaching staff and others to take a hike.
  12. Anyone else think Baldelli sort of mishandled the pen yesterday as far as usage? Why only have Littell go 1 inning? I know he hadn't thrown in awhile, and threw 20 pitches, so maybe they are now fully committed to him being a short relief guy... Thought maybe Gibson would go a second inning as well after he threw just 11 pitches.
  13. Sano has zero ability to hit balls thrown right down the middle. Incredible.
  14. 14 strikeouts. This Rays staff is good, but man...
  15. Wants to fit in with the rest of the bullpen arms, sans Rogers.
  16. Jorge batting .286/.311/.408 in June.
  17. We are all due for a Sano bomb, yes?
