  1. Not true. You're basing this off 63 PAs last season at MLB for a guy who had never seen AAA. .827 OPS in AAA. He also just turned 23.
  2. Celestino is an odd choice. Anyone know what his numbers vs lefties were in the minors last year? Calling him up from St Paul means they were going to give the job to Rooker. I would think Upton is a real possibility.
  3. I think a lot of people are really underselling what Rogers has been. 2.13-2.85 FIP each of the past 4 years. Only injury problem was a minor finger issue which obviously is gone based on his spring stats. Pair that with an insane 13.2 K/9 last season and Rogers is an elite bullpen arm.
  4. I don't understand how Rogers' "value" using that trade scenario is only 7.2
  5. Based on my knowledge of the this front office, Rogers for Paddock would not be a trade they make. Yes, the Twins do not give pitchers money, not even pitchers they brought up.' BUT I also know this Twins office values a good deal, and that is not one. I'm assuming many players are being talked about, so maybe the Rogers news isn't much at all. Or this is a multiple player for multiple player trade.
  6. Now what's going on? Twins have to know trading Rodgers for Paddock would be very very bad. I get the Padres want major league talent but Rogers is the glue on an otherwise sad looking bullpen
  7. I forgot about that also. Larnach was removed from the lineup today so assuming he's going. Might be other players involved on both sides though
  8. Paddack was a massive prospect with some of the best minor league numbers I've seen from a young pitcher. Padres have had how many coaching changes the last few years? Dude needs a reset. Love it, as long as the haul isn't massive. It can't be, right? Also had a 3.78 FIP last year
  9. He was in LF, where he's almost never played.
  10. Cave has already been demoted. Another lefty bat in the OF made no sense.
  11. Probably wrong time to mention this because his health is most imporant right now, but this is what happens when the Twins consistently run with IF in the OF with no experience. Kepler has played there forever now and I'm sure he called it off. Sano, Arraez, Gordon. When will they learn?
  12. Lewis Thorpe is gone for good. Finally. Only reason he lasted so long was because he's a southpaw. Would have been cut outright years ago otherwise.
  13. I do like bringing in Archer. Hit 93 last year with 87-89 slider. Slider looked just like it did 5 years ago which was nice. My issue is that Bundy and Archer are 2/5 of the rotation. What happens when something assuredly goes wrong?
  14. Well there's Archer. 1 yr 3.5 Team option 10 mil next year. It's something, but signals they're done also.
  15. I understand that trade prices seem to be insane right now, but they only did this to themselves. At this point it's a near guarantee that Correa will be shipped off at the trade deadline. So, Falvey...what's more important? Maximizing your time with Correa or saving prospects? If the Twins suck and ship Correa out at midseason Twins fans will be irate and more importantly I think free agents are going to have an even worse viewpoint on the twins front office than they already had. It's no secret that free agents have avoided MN in prior years. While a lot of that is money related I don't believe that's the entire reason. Save the prospects means having a terrible rotation. By the time the trade deadline approaches they're going to be so far out of the picture that there's no reason to even debate re-loading on pitching. This is how we baseball.
  16. Great response and great points here. One thing I want to mention is the "mlb ready guys" like Winder, Balazovic, Duran. Do you really see the Twins bringing all their minor league pitching prospects up this year? This team has always struggled to bring prospects to the majors, especially pitching prospects. I really doubt that they're all of a sudden going to bring everyone up and start their MLB clock. If they don't then they're relying like you said on Jax, Thorpe, Bundy, Alcala. I just don't see a situation where that is successful.
  17. There's still time, I get it, but I can't help but continue to wonder the direction with pitching still awful. Am I wrong to say that they are currently one of the 5 worst staffs in baseball (starters and relievers)? At any moment Montas and Manaea could be traded to one of the many other teams looking for pitching. Also, waiting until the final pitchers possible is not the smartest move for value (and we know Falvey is obsessed with a good deal). They have a legit chance to be really good this year, but don't seem willing to part with the prospects and they weren't willing again to sign free agent pitching. My thoughts are that the Correa signing and in smaller part the Gray trade are the twins effort to be "competitive" and when the deadline arrives and they're not good enough, these are easy trades to boost the farm system once more. I worry that Correa signed because he knew this was the guaranteed way to be on a playoff team this year. If the Twins are that, great. If not then he gets traded to one at the deadline. Correa was a huge move, there's no doubt about that. The most exciting free agent acquisition in history. BUT if he is on this team for only 80 games then it was simply a fancy way to not only build the farm, but keep Twins fans happy and not revolting against Owners and front office for one more year. I hope that as I hit send a move comes in and that I am proven wrong, but I just don't have any confidence in this owner and front office. The main goal should be ending this historic 18 game losing streak and I just don't see with this current roster. Feel free to call me crazy in your responses lol.
  18. I shouldn't be worried, because last time I was they signed Correa, but I worry there won't be more impact pitching, I like Cueto as a 5, but They still need a number 1 or 2 starter. They have the minor and major league talent to get this deal done and the Twins need to have a good season for Correa to consider returning for year 2.
  19. For anyone who has the athletic, Gleeman posted an article about Story’s splits 30 minutes ago that actually makes sense.
  20. OPS+ shows the exact same thing. He's trying to compare stats from the player in his mid 20s to stats in their mid 30s after years of injuries. Also he furthers his ridiculous argument by showing OPS of Arenado and Lemahieu at the bottom, but somehow me mentioning OPS is wrong? This guy is legitimately comparing Giambi's roided up days with the A's and Yankees to his 40 year old seasons with the Rockies. Insane is what it is.
  21. Also, this list is mostly made up of players in the dying days of their careers. "Now here's where it gets fun: This a table of Free Agents that the Rockies signed after these players had lengthy careers with other teams. Playing at Coors should improve their wRC+ cuz Coors, right? Well, take a look:" Morneau, Giambi, Reynolds, Cuddy all entered Colorado in the dying days of their careers and each saw immediate resurgences OPS below of each player the year before joining Colorado and the first yr in Colorado Morneau- .741 and .681 in prior years. .860 first year OPS with Colorado Giambi- .697 OPS prior year. .776 and ,958 next two short seasons ( he was only averaging 180 PAs at this point in his career cause he was near his 40s) Reynolds- .681 and .731 before. .806 and ,839 with Colorado. Cuddyer- .753 and ,805 before. .806 and .919 with Colorado. Some of these are not huge changes, but all of these occur at later points in players careers when their numbers should be getting worse. Showing the stats of a player in their prime and then saying their numbers got worse in their mid to late 30s with Colorado is ridiculous.
  22. "also the contrary, players whose offensive productivity decreased after they joined the Rockies from other teams. Can you guess a former Twin, winner of an MVP in Minnesota, who falls in that last category?" What on earth are you talking about? Morneau's career was over. 3 brutal seasons in a row 2011-2013 and then a career resurgence in Colorado. .860 OPS and .821 OPS in consecutive seasons with MVP votes. Did you do your homework at all? You cannot compare his Colorado numbers to his pre-concussion numbers.
  23. Love it. Wonder if the Twins could take on Story and some of Andrus' salary to lighten the prospect load for Montas? Would love Trivino as well. I suspect this would put the Twins over the budget by a bit too much. Not really any use for Andrus' but Oakland would definitley appreciate it and might save Twins a better prospect.
  24. The fact that this trade was done without a deal on the side already completed shows that the twins are fine not competing this year if they don’t get their guy, which at this point is very clearly Trevor Story. I don’t think Story makes this team much better but that’s a story for another time.
  25. I’m so done. the defense which was bad a week ago somehow got worse. Garver to Sanchez and Donaldon to Ursela is a clear downgrade. There are no pitchers left to spend money on and Story, the only guy that makes sense is a Rockies player who rakes at home and is beyond average on the road. Great. Falvine has completely lost it.
