Ok then in your opinion, were would the Twins need to rank in the American League to draw over 2 million fans? Would they need to win 100 games like 19 when they drew 2.3? The regurgitated phrase I was referencing was the Pohlands suck and Falvey is the worst. So please don’t twist m words. And what about the not close to sell out of home playoff games? Did Falvey prevent that also? I’m not defending ownership or Falvey. There is plenty room for improvement across the board in the organization. But I will always support my team. That is our own personal decision. But if we choose not to support them how much does it help by choosing that path and expecting payroll to increase while coming on message boards and regurgitating the Pohlands are cheap and Falvey is the worst.. Also you kind of made my point that fan disinterest started prior to the 2023 offseason.

Agree 100 percent. It was definitely an incomprehensible statement to come out and say we need to “right size” our payroll.. And numerous questionable decisions for sure to say the least. And in hindsight the Correa signing did not work out for us long term. But I do appreciate the effort.

Other than the fact April record was better than August and July was similar as well .After an offseason of acquiring Pablo.. Then of course the empty seats for home playoff games. I agree winning will bring in more fans. But our payroll has always been related to the years previous attendance. But to say fans became disinterested after 2023, to me it sounds like most were disinterested before the 2023 season started going by attendance figures..

In 2023 the Blue Jays drew over 3 million fans to the ballpark. The Twins drew under 2 million. Do the math. Way too many empty seats in a season of fun baseball and playoff baseball. Are we positive this didn’t contribute to the 25 million dollar decrease in payroll. Attendance went up just over 100,000 from 2022 to 2023. The cold reality is fun winning playoff baseball didn’t put substantially more butts in the seats.. Context and facts should matter still. I get it though, it’s just easier to simply regurgitate the Poland’s are cheap and Levine is the worst.

Will really be pulling for The Surge to make the playoffs. I know it means so much to those in player development as well as the players. But n AA.

I could be wrong, but I was always under the assumption that payroll was based on the previous seasons revenue. I know it was in multiple articles here on TD a few years back. Part of revenue is based on attendance and TV/Streaming revenue. In 2023 and 2024 payrolls exceeded most of our expectations and I’m sure exceeded the designated percentage of revenue. The Streaming money went down, the viewership when down, and the attendance went down. Even in 2023 attendance was not good in my opinion considering we were a competitive and fun team and couldn’t sell out home playoff games.. Considering the Twins revenue really dropped this year, Going off history, yes I’d expect payroll to drop again for next season. I expect most organizations also follow the same structure. Yes there are outliers. As a fan I hate it, But will make the best of it I guess. Were I live out of state it’s mostly relocated Yankee fans. They all are amazed of my stubborn loyalty to the Twins, considering I wasn’t born there. I’ve been told I should seek professional help, sarcastically I think. Loyalty is one of my best qualities, but in this case it may be my worst trait.

Who is New Minnesota Twins Prospect Enrique Jiménez?
Twinsrtheworst replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
1. But Jeffers is not a weak side tandem catcher.. And I promise, there will Always be another catcher to back him up. 2. Plus Noah’s arrow is pointing up in AAA. 3. Replacing the Vasquez production will actually cost less than what we are paying Vazquez. -
Yes, I’m hoping to see Keaschell again this year. Would love to see Gonzo as well. I guess I just wish we had some exciting replacements ready now, like Emma and Jenk. For me anyways I feel like I kinda know what Martin is and don’t have a ton of hope in Sabato. II guess I’m turning from optimism to being pessimistic about things. Anyway thanks for the chat and responses.

Hey, his son is in the Red Sox org. Not a rated prospect from what I know. But maybe we steal him before he busts out. Lil payback 🙂

I see we’re your coming from. But in my opinion if you are starting Sabato, Martin, and Keaschell now…. And they show minimal, which is what should be expected, then do we run em out there again next year? If they tank which is possible, then I guess what’s that telling to any of our vets. I guess I’m just saying there are unintended consequences to everything. I’m not saying you are wrong by any means. Just that things can go from bad to unrecoverable quickly. Though I believe Keaschell is legit.

Agree with trading the rentals and see what we can get. What kids in the system do we let play? Honestly asking. As for Rooker, the only team that saw what he could become was the A’s. And they had been bad for awhile and in a position to see if he could stick. That being said yes still a loss by the Twins. I just don’t recall anybody on here claiming he was going to be a loss. It’s much easier to see this as a miss by us after the fact.

Has it occurred to you with your 20/20 hindsight vision, it’s most likely no other team was interested in Julien even when he was going good. Just because he should have been traded Does Not mean there was a team that would have given anything for him…. They saw him for who he is. Time to put those non helpful hindsight glasses away. Or I guess just keep kicking that dead horse.

Since you quoted me, where did I state I’m against adding talent? What is it that makes me a homer? I don’t even reside in Minnesota. I advocate adding talent to improve the roster. Let me ask you , what trades and suggestions do you have???

Once again you go on a tangent of quoting things I never said. I never stated everything is fine . It’s not. And you f you or I think we are going to make changes, then we are screwed, and I actually am informed more than most on the state of affairs with the organization. Knowing many of the players, I will root for them every single day and twice on Sunday. But ya go ahead and keep saying so and do is going to peter out. If they do you get to be right. If they don’t you just repeat it next year.

Well the Twins did make the past season 2 years ago and still have a chance to this year. But ya congrats on picking your favorite team to lose every year. Sounds like a fun way to be.

I say stay the course. If at the trade deadline we stay afloat AND it looks like Lopez and Mathews are recovering as expected. Then we trade prospects for a bat if there is a trade to be had. Until then we continue to develop our pitchers like Festa and SWR. If our depth can keep us in contention until the deadline and return of 2 SP we have a shot. If we are out of it or Pablo and Zebby are not recovering as anticipated, there really is no reason to believe any sensible trade could save the season at that point. Just my thoughts.

Yes, we are better off to fix the known flaw in our player or at least minimize it…in my opinion.

Out of curiosity, are there any truly successful long relievers around anymore? I honestly don’t know, I only watch the Twins and yes Sands was used as one a couple seasons back. But is it something a majority of contending teams use? I could see some of the much lesser teams possibly using them, not sure. I’m Not against it but seams like a hard position to excel at in today’s game.

Seems like whenever the Twins are rolling, we get these kind of articles and opinions of complete overreaction to something that is really nothing at all. He’s had 55 AB this season. The sky is not falling, but I get it. Twins are playing great and showing what it takes to win. But hey don’t let me spill any kind of optimism about Royce or any of the other players. Let’s just cut him I suppose and bring up say Holland. Sounds like a plan.

That same people all calling for McCusker to get some run with the big leagues team now...are the same ones saying we need to lower our K%. Do we reall6 want a 30-35% k percentage again? I'm fine with it if he's hitting bombs..but most are not and just keep screaming for the next guy to come up with no idea of who he is as a hitter and then there are roster and position considerations. But what do I know.

I'm sure it much easier to be engaged playing almost every day than from the IL. That being said I don't really recall him not being engaged even from the bench.
