  1. That happened!! Our Twins get to spend at least one morning all alone at the top of MLB!
  2. That's a pretty looking bullpen chart heading into the Bronx. Everyone should be available to get outs when needed.
  3. Guess who else just plain stinks: The Angels sans Trout. We get them six times in May. I expect the offensive fireworks to continue.
  4. This is really disheartening news. Ober seems like a real talent, but he just doesn't seem to have the body to withstand the stress of pitching.
  5. Yes, the rotation has been a nice surprise so far. Gibson needs to be given some rope coming off that infection, but it looks like he's getting back to 2018 Gibby. I'm looking forward to his start in New York. He pitched really well there last year and didn't seem starstruck by the whole Yankee atmosphere. It all got lost when Rodney got Sanchez'd. Odorizzi has been putting his money where his mouth is stating that he felt the stuff has been there (except for that Philly game that was probably played in a storm that has a name these days). Now the results are there as well. I hope he keeps it going and pitches at a pace like he did against Houston. It's easier to appreciate some of his slower moments on the mound when you can tell he's calculating and in the zone vs. questioning and trying to figure out why stuff isn't working. The FO may have unearthed something in Perez. I really hope so. It was a meh depth signing for me at the time. I didn't have a problem with the signing, but at the price I just felt like he was a dart to be thrown along with Mejia and Stewart for that 5th spot. Now the negative, Pineda ..... He look good early in the season, but now he really seems to be struggling .... It doesn't seem like he's going to last the whole season .... Almost painful to watch at times, like he needs a chiropractic mound visit or something .... I don't know, maybe give him an opener for a few starts. I hope he can turn it around, but he definitely seem like SP5 in this rotation ATM. Glad the Twins have that option on Perez .... Not sure if Gibson or Odorizzi will be worth QOs, but in today's FA world I would guess they would both sign them ... Otherwise, maybe the Twins pick up a competitive balance pick.
  6. Cleveland getting backed into a corner .... Time to pounce .... Run up a double-digit lead before Kluber and Clevenger even resume baseball activities .... Maybe they'll sell us Bauer (unlikely)
  7. That's probably the best plan. Otherwise, the Twins are going to have to promote aggressively and see if something works out (Jovani Moran) or acquire a Will Smith/Jake Diekman type to fix this.
  8. Late last season he had a no-hitter through 7 against the Yankees and ended up being pulled in the 8th after losing the no-hitter ... Twins still won, but the game was late enough in the season, that it didn't matter. I think last night was a bigger deal ... "To be the best, you gotta beat the best" and all that good stuff
  9. Wander Franco will be giving Lewis a run for his money. I hope they both realize their full potential.
  10. Baldelli threw the Verlander game in Houston, so Hinch simply returned the favor last night
  11. Looking at the pitcher above ... Arraez is about as adorable as Astudillo ... He's on the 40, so let's call him up to fill in for La Tortuga!
  12. He fouled a ball off his leg between the shinguard and knee yesterday... It looked like it hurt like a MF They sat him today to try to keep him off his feet but said he was available.
  13. 2019 xFIPs Enlow - 3.75 Moya - 2.84 (3.2 innings) Littell - 5.41 Watson - 3.15 Duran - 4.77 Alcala - 2.64 De Jong - 11.17/25.11 (6.2 innings, but Wow) Rijo - 5.01 Smeltzer - 1.30 Chalmers - (Injured) Yeah, it's a mixed bag.
  14. I thought about this, but with Kepler and Parker both being sick, I wonder if options were limited.
  15. "Lost in all this offensive narrative is that Rosario has regained a focus in the outfield that rounds himself into something special. Putting up six defensive runs saved through his first 165 innings, and notching four outfield assists in the early going, he’s again a guy you don’t want to test in the grass either." Love this part He almost got the 5th assist last night ... That non-out on Correa when he initially mishandled the ball on the track may have been his most impressive throw of the season.
  16. Good to see these prospects like Graterol, Thorpe and Smeltzer dominating in their respective leagues. I don't know what the weather was like for Thorpe's first two starts, but hopefully, those are outliers. I've seen Graterol live, and he seemed to work relatively quickly. Does anyone have any input on how Thorpe and Smeltzer are in this area? It's at the top of my mind after watching Odorizzi and Pineda that last couple days.
  17. We're talkin' baseball Berrios and Polanco Talkin' baseball Eddie, Buck and Garver Hildy, May and Rogers comin' through They knew 'em all from 'kato to Duluth La Tortuga, Kepler, Cron and Cruz
  18. I'm not in a rush either. Having a 9th place hitter with his skillset does cause some disruption. He must certainly benefit from getting to see 25-30 or so pitches before he steps into the box as well.
  19. A sweep is good medicine for the foul feeling you get after losing a series that you think you should have won. Toronto is hot, and like the old saying goes - "It isn't always who you play, but when you play them." (Can we switch our schedule and go to the Bronx this week?) The Twins bullpen is lacking in depth, but they are still currently tied for the third best record in MLB. Knock on wood, the team is staying healthy since the regular season started. Every team has their issues - some more than others. I'm certainly happy that the Twins don't have the Yankees' IL that's looking to compete with the weight of Johnny Cash's Cadillac title, and it's also nice that they don't have to call career 582 OPS Pedro Severino to pinch hit for career 579 OPS Cedric Mullins when the game is on the line.
  20. “You should not have to spend $6 on a hot dog. To me, that’s crazy.” Wait a minute .... Then don't sell them for that much - anywhere in the ballpark.
