  1. Last thought before his arrest, "Yeah. This is a good idea."
  2. At least Marwin apologized. More than you can say for Altuve and Bregman
  3. The Players' Union would probably agree to the spending floor, but there isn't a snowball's chance in Tijuana that you'd get them to agree to non-guaranteed contracts.
  4. As much as I like Keoni, I don’t think a comparison between him and a guy who in my opinion is probably the next unanimous first ballot HOFer is an accurate one
  5. He did get a ring
  6. You owe me for the beer that just shot out my nose. Also if you weren’t aware, that actually kinda hurts
  7. I agree. And why would he not want to at least dip his toes in? After however many years of having really no control over what you get paid, finally having the opportunity to get as much as the market thinks you're worth is exactly what every player who makes it to The Show strives for. If he hits free agency and is one of the most sought after guys then that means he must've been pitching pretty damn well for us. In that case, more power to him.
  8. I say screw it, we know Betts and Price are getting moved to the Dodgers. That means LA still needs to free up cap and roster space. I say we do a separate deal with them for Maeda. Hell, tell them we'll take stripling too. And then we can give Boston the old New Jersey "You're number one" finger as we walk away into the sunset
  9. This deal is going to get done. The best part is that the Twins have all the leverage here. Boston WANTS to shed salary. Dodgers WANT Betts. Twins like Maeda but you know we could always make a deal somewhere else. Eventually boston will bow to the inevitable and sign on the dotted line
  10. The following paragraph is from Passan's article on ESPN talking about the hold up. I think the part I've bolded is really what this is about. Alternative options to complete a deal exist, according to sources. The players involved could be amended, as could the amount of money Boston is sending to Los Angeles to cover a portion of the $96 million still owed Price. The Dodgers and Red Sox could theoretically opt for a two-team deal or involve a different third team; Graterol is currently with the Twins. I think Boston is trying to save themselves some money.
  11. So does this also put the Betts and Price to the Dodgers part of the deal on hold?
  12. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't we technically trade Graterol to the Dodgers for Maeda and the Dodgers then flipped Graterol to the BoSox as part of the Betts deal? If that's so, seems to me that the onus falls on the Dodgers to make the deal good.
  13. If you actually believe this, I've got an ocean-front timeshare in Vegas that we need to talk about
  14. As much as I loved Bartolo I don’t think he was breaking the century mark. However I also agree that with pitchers I don’t put much stock in “body type”
  15. I think this says that the FO believes we have better *starter* prospects. I think Duran and Balazovic made them comfortable with moving Brusdar. Honestly I’m not surprised he was moved after they said they were moving him to the bullpen
  16. This is what my initial reaction was. They just don’t believe he’ll ever be a great starter
  17. You think Tim Anderson had a lot of errors last year? Wait until they're trotting Dallas Keuchel out there every 5 days. It'll be a massacre of grounders up the middle
  18. "And on the 7th day God said, 'Let there be rest...Except for those who play 18 innings.' And it was good."
  19. Hyperbole maybe. He's also not wrong
  20. I'm sure they're trying to move on from Bregman too. And Verlander. After all, even though he doesn't hit, he knew what they were doing. The little scamp.
  21. If the biggest issue we have is that our batters are worse against righties than lefties, and that the "worse" is still coming in at a 800+ ops I'll take it everyday of the week and twice on Sunday
