  1. Apples to whatever is the most insignificant small fruit you can think of. Woodstock will evaporate from the collective consciousness as soon as the last hippy dies--which isn't too long. Hendrix will live on a bit longer, but IMHO, the Apollo landing was the most amazing event in human history.
  2. Man, it's difficult listening to Rocco speak. It's all platitudes with perfect grammar. And at the end, I'm no more informed than I was before I started listening to him. Man, I miss the straight talking old guys like Gardy and Earl and Francona. Maybe I'll become an Indians fan. The Tigers are too pathetic.
  3. I've never seen 'em play at Target Field. I left the Minneapolis in 1999.
  4. Hey Aero delideliria. I'm a Twins fan living in Japan too. I'm in the Nagoya area. Been here 20 years. How about you?
  5. I don't think Arraez is connected with the Schoop decision. I think he's directly connected to the fate of Adrianza. My guess is either Addrianza gets dfa'd when Cruz comes up, or Arraez gets more work at AAA and when Garver comes back then Arraez replaces Adrianza.
  6. Here is the headline of an article written on the mlb website: Pressly matches Kimbrel's record streak Astros reliever has made 38 straight scoreless appearances I'm trying to forget this trade and move on. But it's tough when articles like this get thrown in your face!
  7. What I would do is activate The Turtle for the 2nd game. Play him at catcher or 3rd base depending on the availability of Castro. Then designate Cave as the 26th man. Then send Cave down on Sunday.
  8. I listened to Baldelli talk about the game. And then I listened to Franconia. There's no doubt who I'd rather play for. Maybe the new guys know what they're doing, but listening to these egghead quant guys talk is downright nauseating. I miss the plain speak of guys like Gardy, and Franconia and Earl Weaver. At least they were funny. I haven't laughed since listening to Gardy talk about "Loose Canon #1 and Loose Canon #2. I guess winning is better than laughing. We'll see what the new guys can do.
  9. Saturday's weather is supposed to be colder than a witches ... in a brass .... While Friday is just regular cold but passable. Any chance of playing Saturday's game on Friday?
  10. Having lived 18 years in Minny, I gave up on my hometown Mets and became a Twins fan. Two days ago I celebrated my 20th year as an expat in Japan, am I'm still a Twins fan. The series between the A's and Mariners was a lot of fun, and it gave the Japanese the chance to say goodbye to perhaps the greatest Japanese player of all time. Most realize that Ichiro was done last year. But I think most also appreciate the Mariner's gesture of allowing him to make his swan song in Japan. Now with Ichiro retired, let the Ohtani era begin--once he gets off the DL. (Or is it IL? What's up with that anyway? Is it now politically incorrect to say DL? DL, DL, DL, DL!!!!)
  11. I remember when Molitor had two or three years of injuries and fans in Milwaukee and Minnesota were grumbling about his fragility. Well, he's in the HOF now. Sano is still young. Let's wait and see.
  12. Yeah, I'd pick Kubel or Castino. And if I can time travel into the future, I might pick Mr. Sano and his bum leg.
  13. I'd like to sit in a politically correct free section.
  14. Many complain that the front office isn't doing anything to put a winner on the field in 2019. I'm fine with it. They don't really know what they have in Buxton and Sano, so they are biding there time. And besides, don't dismiss doing nothing. Most damage in sports, in business, in life is caused by doing too much. I think doing nothing is generally underrated!
  15. No, they can't combine the pools. They used next year's pool to pay all of Severino's signing bonus.
  16. This strategy seems very familiar to me. Hmmm, where did I hear this before. Oh yeah, the government. It works great!!!
  17. You don't have to sign Darvish and burn all those millions. Just sign Ichiro as a 4th outfielder and let Ohtani pitch and DH. Tell him he's got two years to acclimate to the big leagues in friendly, low pressure Minnesota, and then he can go to Broadway and hit the big time. That's my plan. Will it work? Probably not, but it's worth a shot.
  18. I can tell you exactly what the Twins need to do to land Otani. First some background: I live in Japan. Been here 18 years and counting. I talked to one of my Japanese friends the other day. He's a ex ballplayer. He played on the same high school team as Ichiro. He is two years younger, so he they had one year together. He told me straight up with no hesitation. Otani does not want to go to a famous team like the Yankees, Dodgers, etc. The Twins can easily get him if they agree to one thing: He wants to pitch and DH. If they let him do it, he'll sign. He'll be a Twin. That's it.
