    Yep. Even as a fan, I’m not interested in management “proving” anything to me. I’m interested in them making smart moves that build a championship-caliber team, even if those moves are ‘controversial’, and especially if they take some intestinal fortitude and long-sight vision to make. This deadline had none of that. Not that I was expecting it.

    The offers were probably very good for a rental. Numerous big spenders wanted a catcher. The returns were very good in the deals that were made.

    Next year.? The deadline gave them one reliever for next year. Period. Unless you think Kremer is the answer to anything. Oh, and a compensatory draft pick for not trading Jeffers, who would have returned at least one good major League ready guy.

    I’m mean, he’s likely to help this year and next. Has struggled as a closer, but very good otherwise. Was the price too high? Who knows. Disappointed on not capitalizing on Jeffers, though.

    Meanwhile, I can almost hear the TC PR machine (which includes 100% of mainstream media) scrambling to produce their post 5 PM pieces to rationalize neither buying nor selling. (Not withstanding the attempt on Larnach and the 25-30 innings we’ll get from Minter.)

    Twins had an 85% lose probability before the hit. You pull the rabbit out of the hat and you’re tied, playing Manfred ball on the road. The choices were pitch to the guy or walk him and (very likely) BEST case, you’re facing Young with the bases juiced. Our guy threw three straight fastballs in the same exact (pretty hittable) location…and their guy beat him.

    Jax has a 3.16 ERA this season across 18 STARTS. Yes, he’s a starting pitcher now, and apparently a good one.

    Not really worth picking apart, IMO. He should never have had any thought to go to second after tagging first. Still, if he makes the play, the game’s only tied. You didn’t win. It’s tied. Play better overall and you can afford a mistake or two. It’s a game, and the Twins, not just Martin, seldom play well enough in all three phases to have much margin for error. This isn’t new and it’s unlikely to suddenly change. The baseball gods just gave you a series, when you were within a couple of outs from being swept by Kansas City at home. By Kansas City. At home. Moral: we generally have more margin for error than KC, but probably not much more (if any) than a team like Seattle. But we all already know this.

    I like it with a much lower-level prospect swapped for Culpepper….and only if the half season that Greene will miss is the same half of the season that Buxton plays.

    Just guessing based on trying to identify a pattern… Minter 0.5 bWAR; Kremer -0.5 bWAR; …my guess is someone with -1.5 bWAR.

    Score more than 3 runs. It’s not going to happen every game, but you can’t really expect a win when you don’t.

    Hilarious. This is your favorite organization “buying”. Everyone knows that when you’re trying to bolster your starting pitching, you look to the very bottom of the Orioles rotation. Even at two years…and even assuming there is a 2027, this is just throwing darts. And Reyes ain’t nothing.

    And that’s the frustration with him. Has a massive flaw in his game, and an equally massive talent, that being the power. And by the time he’s making progress on the flaw, he’s out for months. And so, he starts over. Over and over again. It’s two steps forward and two steps back with him. Groundhogs Day. He’s 24 next year.

    For those that believe this…and I’m not trying to argue one way or the other…but if this were a truth, the Twins have already lost the trade. By a mile.

    In short, don't be surprised if Buxton's IL stay extends beyond the minimum 10 days—perhaps significantly so. Surprised if he’s out longer? I’m thinking most of us would be shocked if he’s not.

    A Rental. Exactly what they shouldn’t be doing, IMO. Cheap? It would appear so. So, there’s that.
