    Rortvedt has an OPS of .824, Jeffers has an OPS of .668. Rortvedt is about 100 days younger.

    I'm all for raising the minimum and moving up arbitration/free agent timeline. Paying minor leaguers more would also help the players in getting the portion of profits that they have earned. Putting in a payroll floor would help raise overall salaries, although I'm not sure if it would help the baseball middle class, or just the upper class. I do like South Dakota Tom's idea of a lottery for draft picks to stop teams from tanking.

    I do think that for the top players, if they wanted to sign lower years, with higher AAV, teams would be willing to do this.

    I was able to watch the game on TV, his control was horrendous. Gordon looked good, his last single should have been a double off the left field wall except he slipped rounding 1st.

    I think that everyone can agree on moving the roster from 25 to 26. If MLB is proposing it I don't see how the MLBPA would oppose more players making major league money. Moving the September roster from 40 to 28, no thank you, I love September call-ups. Universal DH, although I am against the DH in a purist sort of way, its gonna happen at some point, so why not sooner than later, just rip the band-aid off. But 2019 can not happen as NL teams will need to be able to plan for it, so 2020 would work. Three batter minimum, while great in theory, I would worry about it in actual practice. 20 second pitch clock to me is a no brainer, as others have stated, just do it. Mound visits, going less than 5 to me isn't good, lets not get too into making changes. Again, although in theory, anti-tanking rules would be a good thing, in actual practice I'm not sure how it would actually work out, so I'd stay away from this one, but you could set a minimum amount that each club would need to spend on player payroll, this could help out and the MLBPA should be on board for that.

    If the Twins were close to contending, make the trade. The Twins are not close right now, save the assets for use later when they are close and need one piece to push the team over the top. If they go and sign Machado and Keuchel (not happening), then make the trade for Realmuto.

    I think Reed will be gone, Jay is possible to be drafted. I don't think the rest are that high risk, but it only takes one team to believe in someone.

    Nick Anderson traded to the Marlins for infielder Brian Schales.

    All were signed/drafted prior to Dombrowski arriving there. Three of above mentioned had made there MLB debuts prior to his arrival.

    Among starters only Yusei Kikuchi intrigues me. I just don't see the rest having the upside that the Twins should be looking for. I'd take any of the relievers listed.

    I am not against trading for Grienke. I just don't think that if the Twins take on his whole salary that it should cost us both Gordon and Gonsalves.

    Its a pipe dream, but Machado and Corbin would be on my wish list. I know it won't happen, but a guy can dream!

    I just looked at Max Scherzer's age 24 season, 4.12 ERA (Berrios - 3.84), 3.87 FIP (3.90), 9.2 K/9 (9.5) 2.76 SO/W (3.31) 174 SO (202), 170 IP (192.1). Similar, if not slightly better numbers, he could, and with his work ethic, should improve throughout his career. As long as he stays healthy I think he will be good for an extended period of time.
