  1. A bug I need to fix. Just haven't gotten to it yet.
  2. No, not a reason to ignore it, only a reason not to care. The easiest way to shore up outfield defense is to pick up pitchers who aren't awful, something the Twins didn't seem to realize until roughly six months ago. Fix the big problem and some of the little problems are minimized/eliminated along with it.
  3. Nope, that's pretty much the way I do it. My office setup is a 27" monitor, a 22" monitor, and a 15.4" monitor. Absolutely. That will always be an option.
  4. Agreed on Arcia. I was focusing more on Hicks/Rosario and Buxton. Those guys should be defensive assets. I see Arcia manning the OF for some time. I think Vargas is going to end up at DH regularly.
  5. Notice that after I mentioned Hicks, I added (if he can hit).
  6. But in those years, worrying about outfield defense was akin to rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. It simply did not matter because the team was awful in every way.
  7. You don't think that Hicks will bring more defensively to right field than he does center, particularly when you compare it to relative performance of his peers?
  8. When the main site is redesigned, there will be a similar feature added, though the implementation will probably be drastically different than you expect. But yeah, functionality like that will be added to the desktop site.
  9. I agree that in the long-term, building a contact pitching staff with a bad outfield is a terrible idea. I think most of us saw that writing on the wall. The thing is that the Twins didn't really "build" their outfield... They patched it together in a bridge year until Buxton arrives. Swap out Hicks, Parmelee, and Arcia/Willingham/whatever for Buxton, Hicks (if he can hit), and Arcia and the outfield goes from bad to very good in a hurry.
  10. I don't care if May/Worley work out, this was a smart trade. It's unfortunate the Worley collapsed (figured he was a decent back of the rotation arm) but the writing was on the wall that Revere was, at his peak, a mediocre player. And guys with his skillset rarely stay at their peak for very long. He literally has one tool, speed. And speed is the most volatile of the tools, as it tends to disappear suddenly and without warning.
  11. That's a good idea. It will be awhile before I implement it (it will probably be 3-4 months until I get to the redesign) but that's definitely making the list.
  12. Better than keeping 13 pitchers, I suppose. It's just too bad that Willingham wasn't ready. I don't need to see Herrmann again.
  13. Many projection models simply predict regression from good players and progression from bad players. In the aggregate they have some use but I've found them mostly useless for individual performance because, as you just admitted, they cannot compensate for individual drive, changes to approach, and other assorted things that human beings do on a daily basis.
  14. I don't see a place for Colabello on this roster when Willingham returns. Parmelee can spell Mauer at first, Josh is a better right handed bat.
  15. And this is why projection models are kinda broken. They can't tell you that Dozier changed his swing and had immediate success with it. They can't tell you that he looked like a different player after that date. All models can do it look at his season, compare it to his age, cross-compare them to similar players, and then spit out a number. Except that Dozier was no longer the player his overall 2013 stats said he was, which renders the projection mostly useless.
  16. Yep. He'll get his chance to redeem himself. I'm not a fan of publicly calling out players but maybe the front office felt this was a last resort. Dunno how to feel about it, really. I guess it all boils down to results. If this turns Hicks around, it was a smart move. If he continues to flounder, it put undue stress and embarrassment on a young player. Time will tell. The statement that immediately chapped me the most was Gardy's comment about not wanting to send down Florimon. COME ON. He obviously didn't belong on the roster.
  17. Since the public scolding, Hicks is 3-8 with 1BB and 1K. It will be interesting to see how it plays out over the next few days.
  18. In the top nav, there's a What's New option. That does pretty much what you're talking about.
  19. I have a sneaking suspicion it might be Darnell. Not that I have anything against him but it's time for the Twins to start calling up some potential difference-makers to start games. May fits that bill. Darnell, not so much.
  20. Oh, I don't think the Indians are a bad team by any stretch of the imagination, I just think they're markedly worse than their 2013 record of 92-70. I don't see that happening again.
  21. Absolutely. That's my point. Same here. If the Twins think he's ready, I'll defer to their judgment. They get to see the kid pitch and talk to him every day. I simply think the likelihood of them calling him up as he's developing a new pitch is very low.
  22. Nope. It's one of the more aggravating things about the theme, IMO. Once I figure out a way to implement it fluidly into the current navigation, it will be added. Overall, the navigation is the weakest part of the theme, though I've shored that up a bit with the new top-level menu I added a few weeks ago.
  23. I agree that the Indians are almost certainly a worse team than they were in 2013. On the other hand, I don't think the Bourn signing was terrible. They got him for a reasonable per year rate and much less than the market originally suggested he would be paid. I'm one of the most vocal people on this forum about hating long-term contracts to speed guys in their late 20s but Bourn's price is reasonable. I wouldn't have signed the contract but for 4/$48m, it's not going to be a disaster. The one big problem I see with it is that it's typically back-loaded. He only made $7m last season and will make up to $14m in future seasons for production that probably won't warrant that money. Cleveland, as an organization, just doesn't have the wiggle room to swallow $14m on a speed guy with no legs in 2016. And it's very possible that ends up being the description of Bourn in just a year or two. Just not a lot of upside there and, as is typical with no discipline burners, lots and lots and lots of downside.
  24. If AAA guys are laying off the pitch, there's just about a zero chance a MLB hitter will swing at the offering unless his name is Delmon Young. And I'm not sure why you think it's unimportant to get a changeup over the plate. It's not a slider, where you trick the hitter into thinking it's a strike as it dives off the plate. I think it's a must to get a changeup over the plate in case the hitter doesn't swing (which in turn forces the hitter to swing at it if he fears it will get over the plate for a strike call).
  25. If healthy, I have more faith in Pelfrey becoming a bullpen arm than Correia. At least the guy throws hard and in the pen, it won't hurt him so badly to rely on a single pitch.
