  1. Turns out, sometimes you can give away your money.
  2. Wow. Well done, Ryan/Antony. Looks like they're in it to win it this season. Which makes the Kevin Correia situation all the more baffling.
  3. I believe they came really close to spending to their cap. Anyone have hard numbers on this? A lot of the frustration comes from people jumping the gun on international signings and fretting that the Twins don't "blow their wad" in the first few weeks. But, to my knowledge, by the end of the signing period they've always been close to their cap, if not right at it. The international signing period is long and it takes some time for a lot of teams to reach their cap, particularly if they don't spend huge money on 1-2 guys right away, as the Twins haven't done in recent years.
  4. Wow. I didn't expect to see Rosario back in NB until closer to the end of June. I thought they'd take it easy with him after not playing for so long. Good on the Twins. Lately, they've been aggressive with prospects, maybe even to a fault (eg. Hicks, Aaron).
  5. Ahahahahahahahahah, I'm dying over here.
  6. It's inexcusable to play Kubel over Parmelee at this point.
  7. Wild pitch strikeout, Kubel injures himself running to first.
  8. Okay, let's tone it down a bit. No need to start making it personal and this thread is coming close. Keep on point. To be fair, even Joe Mauer's BB% has declined to low levels when he's really on a roll. Guys don't walk when they're seeing the ball well and boy, is Arcia really seein' that ball right now. It will be interesting to see how pitchers adjust and then how he adjusts following that adjustment, which will lead to another adjustment and probably another adjustment.
  9. I chalk this up to Gardy being Gardy, defending a struggling vet publicly. I hope no one in the front office listens.
  10. Normally I'd agree but it has been more than a month. May has now pitched well for over two months, give or take a clunker here and there. At some point, you need to cut your losses and move on. If the Twins only had May to supplant Correia, I'd be more reluctant to waive Kevin. That is simply not the case. There are four guys in Rochester flat-out dominating hitters. It's time to move on from Correia.
  11. I won't. I'll take productive aggression but there are lots of guys who are unproductively aggressive.
  12. There's no reason both can't be true. Arcia is on the far end of the aggressive scale and Hicks is on the far end of the passive scale.
  13. He could also just turn into Joel Zumaya. Lots of risk in that arm.
  14. It's time for somebody to get up here. I lean toward May but I'll take anybody at this point.
  15. This seems like such a logical thing to do that I'm continually amazed MLB hasn't done it of their own volition. This is their future product; you would think they'd have an interest in making sure that product eats well, has access to proper lodging facilities, etc.
  16. The second day of the draft starts today with the pre-draft show firing up at MLB.com at 11:30am. Rounds 3-10 will be streamed for most of the day. MLB Draft Page: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/draft/y2014/index.jsp Day 1 Draft Thread: http://twinsdaily.com/showthread.php/11813-Official-2014-Draft-Day-Thread-Day-1 Who will the Twins take in the third round?
  17. The Twins can't keep Correia in the rotation after that performance, can they? He single-handedly lost a game they were winning by four runs.
  18. Boy, I sure don't like that Correia fella.
  19. My guess is that it has something to do with the fact that Vielma can't hit or steal bases or do many things one expects out of a baseball player.
  20. No, but it's really useful in a guy's early and mid-20s. After 6-7 years of control, you let it go. Dee is a really valuable player right now. I don't know if he'll keep it up but he's on pace for 100 stolen bases. That's huge. No one has stolen 100 since Vince Coleman in 87. No one has stolen 90 since 88.
  21. Hey, I just noticed that the 2013 Ace Pitcher didn't give up any runs in the first inning. Way to go, champ!
  22. They don't even have Stewart available in the pen tonight. Pathetic.
  23. Not that long ago. 1979. edit: Aw, man. I missed the fact that Guzman was once an All-Star.
