  1. Ick. Ick. With that said, I guess it makes sense in a "I now want to shotgun a bottle of scotch" sort of way.
  2. Opening Day starter simply does not matter. At all. With that said, I find Worley's comments a humorous aside.
  3. I think you're overlooking the fact that Stewart is a pitching novice who has said that coaches have him working on very specific things over stats-based results. If he's still struggling to miss bats next year, then it's time to raise red flags.
  4. During that time, Anderson coached Santana, Liriano, Baker, Nathan, Rincon, etc. To my knowledge, he never told any of them to stop missing bats, though in the case of Liriano he certainly encouraged him to get the damned ball over the plate. The problem is talent, not pitch to contact. And I say that as a person who's not particularly fond of Rick Anderson as a pitching coach.
  5. Welcome aboard! Great to see new posters jump in and contribute. That's what makes this forum so great.
  6. With so many good options available in Rochester, I don't understand the rush to get Burdi up here immediately. He should be promoted quickly but first promote the guys who have been toiling in the organization for years and have shown success.
  7. I'm no Anderson fan but this is a great post.
  8. On BYTO we used to call Nathan "Tweak". Most appropriate nickname ever.
  9. Me. I'm just getting going for the weekend. #TheJoysOfWebsiteOwnership
  10. And Eduardo double play tandem. I hope no one dies today.
  11. If my math is right, the Twins have two remaining options on Hicks. Is that right?
  12. I'd agree if any of those pitchers left the Twins and found success. While Anderson may petition for these types of pitchers and deserves blame for that (just speculating here), it's not his fault that the GM provides him with little-to-no-talent stiffs who never succeed in MLB.
  13. I'm cautious with prospects - probably to a fault - and even I think Meyer should get a taste of the bigs this season. He's not the type of prospect who needs an entire season in AAA.
  14. It's starting to look like Berrios is one of those rare character guys who won't be deterred by obstacles such as the fact that 6'0" pitchers aren't supposed to be that bloody good. Everything about that kid just screams "professional" and I'm saying that as one of the bigger Berrios skeptics around. I haven't read a single bad thing about the kid, his attitude, or his work ethic.
  15. My dream has come true. Eric Fryer is back on the roster. Now let's get Herrmann back up here so the Twins can match each starter with his own preferred catcher.
  16. The phrase "pitch to contact" needs to go away forever. Nobody wants the opposition to put wood on the ball every time. That's preposterous. Limiting walks and keeping pitch counts low has its merits. I don't like most of the Twins' pitching acquisitions over the past decade but when they've had talent, they haven't told anyone to stop striking out hitters. The problem is that they kept acquiring people who weren't very good at throwing baseballs.
  17. The Twins are starting to accumulate quite a bit of leftover slot money.
  18. Oddly enough, Hughes has been much better on the road.
  19. Absolutely. That's my point, really.
  20. Then I get credit as well. I wanted to see the Twins acquire Hughes more than any other pitcher in baseball. We'll share credit, Dave. I get 51%, you get 49%.
