  1. Not enough to matter for website usage. PM me if you see the problem spring up again. Also, be sure to verify which version of IE you're using if the problem arises.
  2. I assume you're in DC so you're not terribly far from the server (Texas). What browser are you using? Most users are in MN - approximately the same distance from the server as you are in DC - and the site loads in less than a second for me 95%+ of the time.
  3. No, it doesn't have to be done entirely from the amateur draft and you have a valid point there... but any rebuild is going to center around the amateur draft so if you don't nail that down properly, your success is going to be limited. As for international signings (excluding Cuban signings), I have a hard time complaining about what the Twins have done there. Sure, they haven't gone out and thrown piles of money at one guy but it looks like their strategy is a good one as the Thorpes of the organization come up through the system.
  4. One small issue I have is Aaron saying that the Astros are ahead of the Twins. Well, yeah. I'd hope they were ahead of the Twins (even though it's hard to say they're far ahead of the Twins). The Astros blew up their organization a full year before the Twins started any kind of rebuild, as they entered 2011 already in full rebuild mode and the Twins entered 2011 coming off a playoff berth. They should be ahead of the Twins as prospects drafted in 2010/2011 are now in MLB. Rebuilding takes a long time. Sure, the Twins probably could have done a few things differently here and there but that would have stocked their farm system more and it's doubtful it would have had much of an impact in 2013/2014, though it may have helped them in 2015 and beyond. Did I mention that rebuilding takes a long time? It seems like everyone keeps forgetting that.
  5. Agreed. I think Ryan will bow out gracefully. I have a hard time seeing him get fired... And we all know that he's considering retirement, given that he did it once already.
  6. I'm fine with Ryan, at least for one more year to finish his rebuild. After that, I don't really care. As for coaches, I'd retain Molitor, Brunansky, and Cuellar (with Bobby potentially sliding into the pitching coach position). None of them have been around long enough to get the blame for this losing stretch and Bruno/Cuellar had success in MiLB (and I think Bruno has done fine with MLB hitters). I think Molitor is potentially the next manager so I keep him around. If the team thinks Mienkiewicz is a better fit for the younger players, then it's probably best to move on from Molly as well. Don't care about the rest.

  8. Hah. Well played.
  9. I know some people want "fresh blood" just for the sake of fresh blood but I think Molitor is the no-brainer for the next Twins manager position. "Fresh blood" shouldn't be as important as "fresh thinking" and given that Molitor is open to advanced metrics and is a student of the game, he seems like a gimme choice. Hometown guy, Hall of Fame player, has worked with the organization for years, is willing to learn 21st century baseball... What more do you want from a manager?
  10. I haven't been a huge Rick Anderson fan for quite some time (or Gardy for that matter). I'm fine with Gardy staying on board for one more season if that's what the front office wants to do... But Anderson needs to go. I've seen enough bad pitching in the past four seasons to last a lifetime.
  11. I've struggled with the NFL for years because of this. Football is overexposed. They play once a week yet if you flip on KFAN in June, they still spend half the day talking about football. It's maddening. I like the game, I'm just tired of hearing about it. Every. Single. Day.
  12. Oh boy, I disagree. I didn't buy a Twins hat for years because I so hated the M logo. When they started reintroducing the TC logo around 2001 or so, I was soooooo happy.

  14. I don't know what on earth you're talking about.

  16. He didn't say team, he said player. And wins-losses is a terrible statistic to use in player evaluation.
  17. I mostly agree, I just think the win total will be closer to .500. Probably high 70s if a couple of things break right with Buxton and Sano.
  18. That will probably abate in time. Remember that at this point last year, Gibson looked terrified on the mound. He nibbled at every batter and would visibly lose confidence after a tough at-bat. I think this is part of the learning process, nothing more.
  19. I don't think this is cherry-picking... to an extent, anyway. If a pitcher misses a lot of bats and doesn't issue free passes, he will have some level of success in MLB. Trevor May has six appearances and five starts. It's promising that roughly half of those starts have been successful, if only from a peripheral standpoint. If he keeps doing what he has been doing lately, he'll be an acceptable MLB starter at some point. BABIP will normalize sooner or later.
  20. Ah, in that case 75 wins by 9/1 would be a resounding success (and probably mean a playoff berth). I'd be satisfied with a win total in the high 60s at the end of August. That means they'd be somewhere around .500, which I think is a realistic goal for next season.
  21. I think 70-75 wins would be a failure... Well, maybe not 75 wins but given that the Twins are currently on pace to win 71 games in 2014, anything under 75 is a failure IMO.
  22. Five catchers, on the other hand...
  23. I flipped on the game and see that May hadn't self-destructed. Now that I'm paying attention, I expect that to change.
  24. Not a bad idea, particularly if the Twins don't think he can catch (and given how they've worked him, they don't seem to think he can catch). Now that I think about it more, it's not a bad idea either way. Josmil's floor is way higher than Herrmann, as is his ceiling.
