  2. Caribou Field with the Hormel Half-Time Show every game, training facilities sponsored by Medtronic, food court by SuperValu. Offensive line sponsored by 3M Post-Its. Quarterback sponsored by... Well, nobody probably wants to sponsor a Vikings QB.
  3. So you're saying I'm above average? "Ma, ma, the man on the computer says I'm ABOVE AVERAGE! I know! I couldn't believe it either!" *pats Ben on the head* You're very special.
  4. I don't get it. If they thought this was necessary, it seems like the latest the move should have been made is August 1st. Doing it now doesn't make much sense.
  5. Thanks!
  6. You have to realize that, as dedicated "everyday" Twins Daily people, you're not the average user. Most people don't check the site two or three times a day. They check it a few times a week or maybe just once a day. That slider system is there to let the more casual users see what's popular and it's not necessarily for the guy/gal who checks the site every hour or more.
  7. Jesus, my head hurts. Now I remember why I don't drink during the week.
  8. The RBI statistic is still useless, it's what leads to them that possesses meaning. That hasn't changed. Theyre both important. When they start adding up how many reached first base at the end of the game rather than how many crossed home plate, I'll change my opinion. RBIs are important. They're also a conditional stat that a player doesn't have much control over so they're also kind of meaningless. If that makes sense. It's important that a player drives in runs consistently but that stat should not be used to judge a player's effectiveness.
  9. Okay, I'm calling this. It's gone to the point of ridiculous and honestly, if you have a problem with the way any of us moderate this forum, show enough backbone to PM us about it instead of resorting to theatrics. I expect better of so many of the posters in this thread. Topic closed, now shut the hell up.
  10. You can't survive without a fastball. You just can't. And that is one of Deduno's "problem" pitches. He won't make it as a reliever. We're not talking about a guy who "walks a few too many", we're talking about a guy who walks almost 7 per 9. That type of guy can't survive in the pen.
  11. All the better for Twins Daily. This state's baseball coverage is abominable (especially when you consider how successful the team was for a decade). Part of the idea behind this site is to provide the Twins coverage that the team has been lacking all these years.
  12. The problem is that calling someone an idiot almost never quells the thread. It only encourages the "idiot" to respond and the thread slowly descends into a flame war. In a perfect world, everybody would be allowed to circle around the village idiot and shame them into submission. But this is the Internet. That is almost never the case. Provoking people with name-calling only begets more name-calling and the thread spirals into a fervor that only an eight year old could admire. I understand your point on the surface, Levi, but my practical experience with forum moderation tells a very different story. I allowed a second thread to be re-opened because at the core of Thyrlos' issue, there was a valid point: why do we think it's okay to refer to people as "property"? Why is it okay to say it for a white man but not a black man? Those are valid questions and I hoped that the thread would discuss those topics (and largely, it did).
  13. That infield makes Scott Diamond cry.
  14. Given what I read this morning, it's not terribly surprising. Why rush him back? May as well be careful with him.
  15. Sam Deduno + relief pitcher = disaster. The guy can't consistently get the ball over the plate. He is ready to blow up with the big inning at any point. That kind of thing can be tempered over 5-7 innings as a starter but entering a close game in the fifth and giving up three runs essentially ends the game for the team. This isn't a Glen Perkins situation where he could drop a pitch and ramp up his fastball to be a more effective reliever than starter. Deduno's problems are entirely control-based and you can't have that in a reliever, except maybe a mop-up guy (and even then it's a danger, the only point of a mop-up guy is to prevent the big inning, Deduno's kryptonite). Deduno will stick as a starter or not at all.
  16. I'm not sure I agree. At this point, 2012 is a lost season. I don't have problems with sitting Mauer and Doumit more regularly, as both have caught a fair number of games and are signed beyond this season. Willingham can sit a few days as well. Morneau, on the other hand, should probably play as often as possible just in case he forgets that baseball is still played through September. /snark

  18. Try hard to move Span in the offseason and slot Parmelee in right. Try to move Justin at the deadline and then slot Chris into first base. It's the only way to get everyone the ABs they need, I think.
  19. No, if only for the reason that it sounds like some bizarre sex act the kids over at 4Chan devised after fusking Photobucket for 96 straight hours.
  20. The catcher comments from Deduno are classic.
  21. Now I can't get the imagine of my landlords humping in the middle of my street out of my head. Thanks. With you being an NYC resident, I thought that might brighten up your Tuesday morning.
  22. I know he accosted a Jewish guy but I thought he yelled "****ing Jews!" at a crowd. Either way, it doesn't matter. One involved purposeful intent to hurt someone else while the other was an off-hand remark that is made about players of every nationality and color. The two aren't even remotely comparable (unless Delmon was drunk and wanted to point out that there were two Hasidic Jews humping in the middle of the street, which by all accounts, there were not).
  23. Delmon screamed "****ing Jews! ****ing Jews!" at a crowd of people. Do you really think those two things are the same?
  24. I think it was definitely too early to annoint him as our 3B savior. It certainly is too early to anoint him anything but he's earned the starting job for at least the first half of 2013.
  25. Yep. He walks too many guys to have prolonged success in the league but the raw talent is there and hopefully, he'll harness it. The biggest question I have is whether an increase in control will make his fastball more hittable. There are downsides to knowing where the ball is going to end up over the plate.
