Cory Provus Questions

As some of you may not know I am the Events Chair for the Halsey hall SABR (Society for American Baseball Research) Chapter. Basically my job is to set up and run the spring and chapter meetings each each year. They are usually located in a church basement with serious baseball fans and most of the people are men in their 50's adn 60's . SABR, as well as a baseball, has serious age problem. Which is a whole another blog post in its own because attendance has never been higher. One of the reasons I read twins daily is because the crowd suits my age of 23 just fine. Even though I haven't really attended any social events. This year..

 

This year SABR was lucky enough to book Cory Provus the guest speaker for Fall Chapter Meeting November 2nd at Faith Mennonite Church in South Minneapolis. He will speak at 1pm.

 

One question that I will ask him how in the heck they decide on the order for play by play with Dan Gladden. It makes no sense to me. In fact I once tweeted Dave St. Peter and they retweeted me " to keep it fresh" Are they trying to save his voice? does any one else have an idea?

 

Or does anyone have a question that they would like to me to ask him?

Not a question, but please pass on from an old guy, who goes back to the Halsey Hall days and before, that Mr Provus is so good I've almost stopped missing Herb.

Perhaps I am in the minority but I prefer Chris Attebury when he subs for Dan, as smooth as Cory but not so much verbiage which tends to wear on me.

I really enjoy the Attebury/Provus combination as well... It's a great mix. I really enjoy listening to Provus. I don't get why Gladden does play-by-play period, much less as often as he does.

I was hoping that Chris got the job a couple years ago. Cory is good but I still like Chris better.

Dan is irritating at times and shouldn't do play by play.

Ok I will make sure that I will pass along the compliment about Atteberry and Provus Combination. Also about enjoying Provus more than Herb. Maybe Chris will get a chance to stay with another team or stay within the group. Who knows?

Looking forward to hearing from Cory Provus, nice job Scott! I am also a member of our local chapter and agree that we are a couple of the younger ones. :-) I have enjoyed listening to Provus, his descriptions are in-depth and help paint the picture. Nice to have an announcer that remembers we're listening on the radio...
