I was just talking to a buddy about this today, he really is looking as good as he ever as. Really driving the ball

Heslthy span just being healthy span... That is why he is one of the most underrated leadoff men in the game

'Healthy' Span also hit .264 in 2010, it's not exactly a given that he'd hit if healthy. I'm as impressed with him as anyone else on the roster.

Plouffe and the Aussie need to hit to play. I was surprised last year by Hughes defense, I thought he would be brutal, but he turned out be unimpressively adequate. I don't think you can consider him for regular play at second, though.

Based on tonight no but it was one play.. Well two... There was a range play that Casilla may have got. The whole deal is our margin of error is pretty strict. Doesn't make sense to hope for double digit run production like yesterday.

Extra outs were given in the big inning. It's the difference.

Speaking of span... How about Carroll as well? How many times have both those guys got in base together this year already? Now if we can get the others to drive me in more often

I love span... No stride swing... Quick bat... Can make contact inside or outside.

I haven't warmed up to Carroll yet. Not his fault... It's on me. Maybe I will.

And a .331 obp which is a more important stat for a leadoff man... And 2010 was below avg

He's a career utility guy asked to be a regular shortstop at 38. My optimistic take when he was signed was that he was a placeholder and insurance policy. I can't condemn him for being what he is.

I can see that... I'm all in on him already, Ill even say im starting to like his presence more than Cabrera or hardy. Even though his stats don't show it but he has been so consistently productive considering the roll he's in. Whether its just moving a running over with a sac grounder or taking a 2 out walk he's been giving our middle lineup many opportunities to get runs... Plus he's been very good in the field

I'm totally with you that OBP is a more important stat, but .331 is league average, not exactly stellar. If he's going to be considered a great leadoff hitter he has to be at least .365.

I wonder what Mauer and Morneau's batting averages are with men on base this year, besides the homers, I feel like it's pretty bad. Especially Morneau, didn't he leave like 7 men on base last night!?

Dang it. DP. Dang it. Gonna have to come back on Nathan. If we can get a couple runners on there will be a Parmelee sighting

Nice!... That just happens to be about his career avg

Oh dang! I didn't even think if that.... Do we have the heart to beat him up?

Yes... He gets paid enough to lose and handle it. Bremer just said he isn't up throwing. Curious.

It's pretty refreshing to see a manager use somebody other than the closer in a "save situation, even though it's not that close".
